DAZED AND CONFUSED / 1973 - TSRTS MOVIE VERSION / DRUM COVER / REPOST

This is a remix of my Dazed and Confused - The Song Remains The Same version which was originally posted in spring of 2018. I had originally posted it in two parts, but I decided to combine them into one video and remix the audio. It's a slight improvement, but a bit limited, because this was recorded when I only used two mics.
Here is the original description :
Next in the ongoing series of 1973 style drum covers....the big one!!! I was going to just play along with a boot version from 1973 but there are so many little moments where the tempos change, the fills are always slightly different etc that I decided to do TSRTS version, because I know it pretty well by memory. I used the actual film soundtrack version, not the old LP version , because it has some very nice bits that I wanted to cover, especially the moment before 'San Francisco'.
A few things that were tricky...I had to let Bonzo do the hihat count in, after the bow solo because it's almost impossible to know when to start it. Also... the ah, ah, ah breaks are close but a little flammy. There are some parts that are the epitome of tight but loose too, where there was clearly some in the moment , head nod kind of interaction, especially going out of the guitar solo back to the triplets and break before the out head. Very elastic playing going on there!
Lastly, I tried to approximate the unbelievably ferocious ending Bonzo played ...I brought the volume of the audio track down so there wouldn't be too many clashing notes. It's very close to what he played, but not note for note. Of course, he played it differently every night but that solo ranks as one of the greatest he ever played to close the song....IMO.

OMFG YOU DID IT!! I've watched that performance at least 1,000 times and as a drummer I was always frustrated at not seeing what he was precisely playing during most of this song. I always wanted to watch the show “The song remains the same” without the cuts to the fantasy sequences. I wish there was a version filmed in the same way as the “Celebration Day” show. By watching this surrender of Dazed and Confused I can already say that I realized a good part of that desire to see what it really was like. Even the part where Bonzo nods to Jonesy something I saw here - and I had a good laugh! it was a sensational touch. Congratulations George, this is a unique video.

Wow George!! I never heard anyone even attempt to do a cover of Dazed from TSRTS and you fucking nailed it! Definitely shows why Bonham was irreplaceable and why Zeppelin couldn’t and shouldn’t continue without him. Somehow you managed to get the elasticity of his and their playing together and always being in the right place at the right time. Plus you got his sound and stamina too!! Awesome job man! Every time I watch this I'm just totally impressed!!! As a fellow drummer and loving Bonham and The Song Remains The Same movie and soundtrack, I know every part by ear. Every Oooh and Aaah from Plant, and all the different parts to their songs and you nail this Bro!!! When I talk about Bonham to fellow drummers and or just music lovers, I always tell them to watch that ending clip at the end of the song and say,"That's Pure Bonham brilliance!" You know what I mean, all the different drum parts I'm air drumming to and know ehen they are coming, etc. Fantastic drum work! So many twists and turns, changes in tempo, tension and pressure that it really seems that we are offered here a glimpse into the "holy of holies" of the Universal Rock Workshop. I think, every self-respecting drummer should at least once in his career try to play a live version of this song properly. But you did an outstanding job, George: you nailed it perfectly! Really stunning George! My biggest complaint about TSRTS was the stupid fantasy sequences and not a solid camera on Bonham the whole show. Now I understand where he got a lot of those complex combos out of a fairly sparse kit. I think the section after the long ride cymbal (post bow) where Plant says, "do it!" is really funky on the high hat, probably my favorite bit of that song though there are a lot of great sections. You really have it nailed. Not bad for a jazz drummer...: - )

Bonham is my favorite of all time and I used to play the stuff very accurately also but it has been a long time and dude this is the most accurate thing I have seen on line to Bonham!
