Moving to L.A. is always an adventure! I went to college in Boston after high school, then studied acting in New York City, then moved out here to L.A. Things don't always work out the way you expect them to ... sometimes they work out better! Glad you stayed and found your special niche!!!

Your story reminds me of my daughter, who moved to Los Angeles 5 years ago. She worked and saved for several years before moving there. It has not been an easy journey but she is finally starting to see the fruits of her labor. She now has auditions for commercials on a regular basis and has done 4 so far this year. Hard work and determination does pay off. Continued success to you. Thanks for sharing your story.

Completely understand where your coming from. As another small town Ohioan just north of Troy, I to went through those same feelings when I was younger. What a dull place I lived in, nothing to do and the feeling of not fitting in overwhelmed me so I moved South, close to Myrtle Beach SC. Made a life there, made lifelong friendships and loved the weather. I would come back to Ohio to visit family but was always ready to leave boring, grey Ohio. As I was nearing my late 40s a few years ago I started to miss my roots, crazy because I swore I would never live in Ohio again, so at 49 I moved back to the family homestead. My ancestors cleared this land in the 1830's and the house I live in was built by them in 1855. I guess as the last male in our family line, I felt a "need" to come back, to carry on where my family began. I have always had an interest in vintage Hollywood, classic movies and even silent movies. I've always dreamed of going to Hollywood, visiting landmarks and retracing some of the footsteps of the Hollywood greats but it has never seemed to work out, but thanks to you I have been able to see so many of the places I have dreamed about. Thank you Jordan for taking me and many others on your journey! Keep up the great work, be happy and I'm glad to see another small town fella living his dream. All the best to you and the next time your in Ohio give me a shout and I'll treat you to lunch at The Spot. Testing your Ohio memory here LOL

Your Grandpa is a great man.. Respect 👍 Every place I've ever checked on to rent said you have to be 25 .. but I rented a place when I was 17 .. I paid my rent on time and everything went well until my dog ate the door off the place ..Haha True story .

I enjoy your travel videos but I am especially interested in your story and how all of this came about. I have recommended your videos to my Navy son when he was stationed at Pt Mugu and we both thought you do a great job in researching your subjects. Live the dream. I always wanted to study art and now at 63 I’m getting ready to graduate with an Bachelor’s and emphasis on Studio Art. You are never to old and in your case never to young to know what you want from life. Keep up the stories you are very good at it.

I moved to Los Angeles in 1976. I was 13. I ended up in private school eventually. I liked it because of KROQ KCRW & KXLU. I liked all the alternative clubs. I liked all the underground record stores. I liked the diversity of people. I saw many great bands. For me LA was not a teenage wasteland , it was an oasis.

You have done so well for yourself Jordan. You seem to have made an exciting & adventurous life happen inspite of setbacks. Sometimes we have to make the leap . I did something very similar at age 18 & have had a very blessed life . Choices I made at a young age on my own turned out to be great, had I listened to my parents ....maybe a bit easier but not half the fun as doing it all on my own.

Fascinating story Jordan. I first visited the LA area with a friend just after turning 18. June of 1975... CA was way different then! Fun trip though. Favorite part was the nice weather, the weird (coming from MN) but cool vegetation. Least favorite was the smog. You were brave to move out there at such an early age Jordan. I'm glad it worked out well for you!

Excellent! Very inspiring story, and excellent advice for a young person as to the unexpected twists and turns that life throws at you. I admire that you are so level-headed, and 'rolled' with all the unexpected obstacles, and that you managed to keep yourself unpolluted from the bad lifestyles of many others that are so prevalent in Hollywood, because you kept focused on your dream! I lived on Carlton Way in Hollywood for 8 years, from Jan. 1980-Jan 1988. Thank you for your candor! The actor Tom Lester who played "Eb", the hired hand guy on "Green Acres", moved out there when he was a very young man, as well, after being inspired to be an actor. He with no experience was cast for the "Green Acres" part, even though over 400 other people, with experience, tried out for that part. he moved out from Mississippi. You can look him up on Utube. He is the last surviving cast member of that TV series.

LOL, our daughter moved to Burbank after college. She got an intern position at Nickelodeon and she had a similar problem with the landlord. She drove out from Illinois to southern California at the end of January. She drove thru plowed snowdrifts taller than her car in Colorado. Stayed at hotels until she found an apartment. So she chased her dream of being an animator, worked at Disneyland (like Breck) for a while doing drawings for the tourists, and now does writing for Puppy Dog Pals. Though life is hard, she is living her dreams! We plan on moving out there next summer. I'm retired so I'm not worried about finding a job.

Good story. I stayed in Hostels all over the world when I was younger and traveling. Met a lot of people and had good experiences. Planing life out has been instilled in us from a young age, but just ask an older person how many things in their life went remotely as planned. Opportunities come out of nowhere, and are seldom ever what you expected or planned on.

Just reviewed this again today. Sounds like you had quite a kindred spirit in a father. I’m sure he would have been quite proud of you for having the courage to make the move. You see Jordan - it really was courageous - why - because most of us don’t make that move - we actually end up leading lives of “quiet desperation”! Obviously I don’t really know you - but - what I do I must admit that I admire your courage, character, and integrity. I tried to follow the dream to NYC. Long story short - I lasted a year - it ate me up - so I returned home - got married - bought a house and car - gained a mortgage and a son - and the rest is history. Love my son - lost the marriage - and now California is a business and pleasure trip three times a year (pre covid).

Story time is cool. Nice to know what prompts people to take the path they took. The story about Jäh is probably my favorite. It's early yet but one day having a story time about how u met Amy would be awesome. She is sweet funny and seems to really care about u.

Interesting vlog, brave thing to do move so far away so young, continue to do what makes you happy and feels right, I will miss the daily vlogs, however as I've said before you need a little me time, wishing you happy adventures as always

Thank you Jordan for this video. My granddaughter is at that point in her life where she wants to move to her own apartment and start her life but is a little scared too. She isn’t as gregarious as you, she’s a bit shy and I think has been too used to her parents protecting her and paying for everything. I will ask her to watch your video in hopes it will give her hope and a little push toward independence! Thank you

I didn't belong where I was raised either. Best decision I made was to leave.

I enjoyed hearing your story! My adult children went through similar events when they moved out of state but they persevered as well.
