I remember Mount Vernon years ago as a twelve year old and I was in awe that I was standing in the same place that he had stood. George Washington has always been my favorite American. There would be no America if there had been no George Washington. His courage and determination throughout the revolutionary war kept his army and the morale of his soldiers moving forward. His guidance in later years at the constitutional convention are still being felt today. Thanks for this vlog. God blessed America by sending such men as Washington and Jefferson

Went to Mount Vernon many years ago during my growing up years. George Washington had an amazing home and property. He was the father of our very young nation as our first president. I was there back in 1972…the visitor area was not there. It was open…you just walked up a pebble roadway to the house. The third floor was closed off. They told us that the wood flooring was not strong enough to allow people up there. His dentures were on top of a wooden dresser….just sitting out there for anyone to see. The stable area still had some old saddles displayed on racks. I also went into a meat drying room inside the house. There were hooks of some sort coming out of the ceiling that they said the meat was hung. You could walk out back and see the Potomac River as well. They didn’t have any of the fancy displays I am seeing in this video. I recall that there were water fountains along the roadway near the house that you could get a drink from. It’s hot in Virginia in the Summer….I recall that the humidity was awful. Dentures haven’t evolved much since Washington’s time. They are still very painful to look at and wear.

I think the quick engagement and marriage of George and Martha was a win/win situation for them both. He was a recluse who needed someone with social skills which is what she apparently had plenty of. And she being a widow with children needed the stability of a man to run the farm, since many widows fell into poverty back in that era. He did save the farm which may never have happened if it weren’t for him. One day I will visit both Mt. Vernon and Monticello. Great vlog!

Imagine the pressures of being George Washington . My god . Strange, those church seats look like a cubicle in the pictures ! Exactly ... did he have backups? And how did those chompers stick to his gums ? Sorry, I didn’t know George Washington owned slaves , but how “wonderful 🙄” AFTER his death he freed them 🙄🙄🙄🙄 I roll my eyes a million times , and how offensive that this place sugar coats it like it was so awesome. He should of done it before his death .
