Hi Toni -- I have a K&K pickup in my guitar at present, and when my palm comes down on the strings, keeping the rhythm, I'm getting a distorted thump/click sound which I can't get rid of. Just wondering if you could comment on whether or not the Dazzo is prone to this kind of percussive overload?
@andy166665 жыл бұрын
I've actually been looking for options for my archtops. This might do the trick. I've been running the K&K pure mini transducers on the floating bridge plate, out into a custom designed preamp I built, which mixes them with the floating magnetic pickup.
@snapfinger13 жыл бұрын
Totally transparent. A worthy competitor to the K & K. The mic still rules. Reference CSNY 4 Way Street.

Thanks for spreading the word about decent acoustic pickups - the Dazzo does sound very natural. With a lot of them, particularly under saddle piezo's, the sound is so artificial and naff I find them hard to listen to no matter who is playing. UK Cheers.

Hi Toni! Are you still happy with the dazzo and the Grace design Alix live on stage? I'm thinking of dazzo 70 in an very acoustic archtop additonal to the magnetic pickups. (I already have an AER dual mix Preamp - which could be similiar to an Grace Design, with less knobs)

I'm listening on headphones and I'm not hearing much high end with the pickup only. It either needs a mic with it for just that range or some type of exciter/EQ to create those highs. The low stuff can be hard to deal with in a mix and can sound boomy so the high end is very important in a live setting were the guitar is not the only instrument in the mix. However, the range it covers is more true to life than any pickup of it's kind I've heard. If some highs could be blended in somehow, it would be amazing. Maybe a preamp with a little mic in it? The trick would be to make sure the mic doesn't add more lows, so it needs to be high passed to just pick up the highs and let the pickup do the rest.

Sounds awesome! I just bought the Grace Design ALiX preamp and am using with Taylor and the ES-1 expression system. It's still pretty new and am working on trying to dial in the sound. I would love to know how you're setting up your ALiX. Do you have a EQ baseline you recommend as a good starting point? Thanks!

Lol, I might have to! Sadly the Popcorn Lady no longer has a stand in the Tuckers parking lot in Fond du Lac, but I like to think she's still out there somewhere, serving up Wisconsin's finest popcorn, and wondering if you truly want your popcorn box open or closed. She definitely deserves another tribute, regardless.

The microphone sound is much better! Both of them into an amp or mixing console, the pickup and microphone sound will be very fine! So I installed both in my Martin D28, can mixed it with the preamp, it works and sound phantastic! Can even play stereo way! 🤠😎 Please try a Taylor guitar and you'll be much more satisfied in sound!

STEPHEN SELDEN , I have an HD28E Retro and the Aura2 is built in, which is also very nice sounding. The E model has the electronics. Toni is playing a standard HD28 that came without a pickup, it appears.

I prefer the sound of the Dazzo only vs the condenser.
@pbasswil5 жыл бұрын
Sounds good (and it's a good guitar in the first place). But I would definitely (carefully) EQ the Dazzo: Take away low boom from the bass strings; and bump up the mids & high mids. Funny: anybody else notice that the E string's g# (root of the 2nd chord) _disappears_ on the Dazzo? While other low notes boom a bit?

Everyone prefers a mic over any pickup system. . . if you're at a recording studio. On stage mics are normally useless, unless you want some "air."

Sounds absolutely nothing like the mic'd guitar- not a natural, airy acoustic sound at all. Reminds me of a Fishman Rare Earth magnetic.
@scottmoreau34786 жыл бұрын
Listening to a direct recording of a pickup will always make it have a bit of a piezo quality. The Dazzo is definitely far more natural than the Rare Earth. You should hear one in person.

What ever happened to "acoustic guitars"? It seems every thing has to be amplified or mic"d or run through some kind of interface. A 3000$ Martin should stand on its own.

Tbh not much different from a 10 dollar transducer off eBay. Not sure how anyone can compare the mic tone and say 'yeah that's similar'...

Dazzo sounds awful. High frequencies cut off, and loss of dynamic.
