Dangerous work, for sure. Im sure there have been some crushed hands, fingers yanked out of socket s....and other various injuries/ deaths. But God bless these guys. Hard workers 💪

From another video in this series, "Star of India sailed with a crew of two dozen or less." This video: "Eight capstan bars, two to a bar. It takes 16 crew to weigh the anchor." So in service, most if not all the crew would be required for this one operation?

No need with chain that large, couldn’t do it anyhow. Modern merchant ships chain lockers rarely are opened for personnel.
