Sir I just want to say thank you very very much because of you I managed to clear my TOC subject in engineering.. without you I would have failed badly in that subject and wouldn't have got any campus placement..you are the reason why I am placed in campus interview.....thank you from bottom of my heart..Bhagwan apko sada khush rakhe

I think the Deegre is 1 Because only one is participating that is "employee"
@chrischauhan16494 жыл бұрын
As a single entity type is participating in the recursive relationship, the degree of recursive relationship will be 1 and it will be a unary relationship.

Degree is 2 , right?
@kawyachandrasekara39594 жыл бұрын
When it is Mapped in to tables empliyee is one column and supervisee another.And the columns are called degree in tables.It can be 2 tables as well.Since we draw er before creating relevant tables I think the degree is certainly 2.Like we take simple valued attributes of a composite attribute into a table instead of the composite value...

I think cardinality of employee(as supervisor) should be N-1 ???? isn't it so?
@arahflorgallardo8718 жыл бұрын
why is the participation of of Employee(as supervisor ) zero? I assumed that the entity type on the left side would supervise the Employee(as supervisee). Why is the 'bottom level employee' considered at the entity type Employee(as supervisor)? I'm confused btw, Thank you very much Sir

Aren't recursive relationships unary?

sir u said there is only entity then i am confused why is the degree is 2 then ......

2 entities from the same entity type thats y

since e1 does not have realtionship with e1itself as mention in the lecture, that's why its a binary relationship and therefore degree going to be 2.

I think RBR uploads his videos slightly slowed down, or he is just a really slow talker. At 1.5x speed he speaks clearly.

Why the degree is 2 even it has only one entity and why the cardinality of supervisor is N,why cant be N-1

Explained well...Is there any video related for mapping recursive relationships in to relational schema model from ER diagram?

Isn't the cardinality ratio for employee (as supervisor) is N-1? As he can't supervise himself.

Sir, I have confusion. How it could be binary relationship because there are only one entity employee , I am your big fan , Thanks for the great videos!
@dhivyakamalakannan9 жыл бұрын
The degree is two because in every relationship, there are two entities that are interacting. I think you are getting confused between the concepts of entity type and entity. Employee is the entity type.. and e1, e2, e3, etc.. are the entities.. Hope this clears your doubt.

hey there ..But there is still confusion ..bcz every book/website every possible stuff is considering recursive relationship to be unary! Totally confused.

sir, told that degree is no.of entities participating in that bt here the entities are same na then how can we said that it is two
