I'm moving my studio from Belmar NJ back to where I started in NYC. I'm Dusting off some old gear that I had stored and this was one!!! I Loved it and used it every day on bass and more.. I will put it back on the rack!! Belmar Underground is moving back where it started at Engine Room.

Nice! I have a pair of these I recapped, definitely helped with the noise of the unbalanced I/O

Oh nice! Great tip. It can be a bit noisy

I have 4 that are off to be modded and 4 more in the studio, love this gear 😊

Nice! What mods are you getting done?

Yo fam I kinda wish that you demod some more extreme settings like DBX absolutely squashing the heck out of a drum mix but honestly your presentation and explainations with logic were so good I had to subscribe 👌

Thanks! And thanks for the feedback. I typically just use the extreme setting on bass like I showed in the final example. I need to get a second unit so I can squash my drum bus too!

Thanks! Is there any significant difference between 163X and 163A? Have pair of 163A and wondering are they as good as 163X..
@sangstersounds3 ай бұрын
I’ve never used the 163a so I can’t say for sure but I imagine they offer a similar value proposition but perhaps with a slightly different flavor to the tone. DBX generally makes solid gear so I’d give them a go for sure

Keep it up! Would like to hear your thoughts on budget EQs, Pres or even tape/reel to reel scenarios.

also good/affordable mics other than SM57s and 58s!

Why do you want to know about budget crap? Better use plugins than these peices of sjit

Thanks so much! Great ideas, I definitely plan on doing more of these videos

I used a 163x on my snare input chanel but i think i should test it on the bass input after the DI out of my bassamp. Today a dbx 262 Project 1 arrived, for 150,-€. This could be nice on stereo signals.

Definitely try it on bass, it sounds epic! Ive never used the 262 but I bet its another Budget Gem!

dbx 166 xl ... The Limiter in them is actually a soft clip circuit .. Very goo alternative for plugin clippers .

Thanks for making this video. But too much talk man. Audio samples, hearing is believing. Just my $0.02. Thx.
