From what I heard, it sounded like the drum volume was lowered and snap from the snare disappeared when you had the compressor on.

Is it just me, or does it sound good on the vocal and awful on the kick/snare? I don't get it. (I'm not listening on computer speakers, either).

He's using WAY too much gain reduction on the drums to even be useful.

How do they compare to the Lindell compressors sitting next to them?

That is a great question. They are very different compressors. The DBX get far more use on vocals, and close drum mics. The lindells Get way more use on room mics and things like parallel guitars. They are finicky but when they work they are great! These two compressors compliment each other nicely.

That kick sounds like hitting a milk box with a toilet pump.

:) This is only one part of the total kick sound you are listening to. This is not meant to be a "one mic" kick sound. Kick total kick sound is usually 2 or 3 channels.

I am brand new and have a noob question. Is the compressor in mono...so I would need two for stereo?

It’s an awesome compressor…. Should be 5 times the price, I’m glad it’s not…. I’ve got several “expensive classic” compressors and this is my goto, just don’t tell the clients lol…

I very much like using the over easy button when compressing vocals. This particular song was recorded quite a while ago so I am not sure what my hardware setting were.
