Is this the 2.0 or the original dbxl-e? Does the original hold up well?

Upgraded original dbxle. Has metal diff cases and FLM axles. They hold up pretty good main thing is good bearings and the metal diff cases.

This is running 12s but could you just swap some 8s set of batteries in there without issue? What would be the result, failures? I currently have the 8s setup and cost is keeping me from going 12s right now. What is your gearing? Can this MGM EsC run with the stock Spektrum DBXLe 2.0 motor without issue? Thanx

You can run this setup on 8s, it will just be slower. I use an mgm on 8s mostly in my FG car because its fast enough on just 8s for general driving. The gearing on this was 16/48 if I remember right. Motor is 875kv. MGM esc can run your stock motor yes but it is overkill. You could upgrade the esc to a max5 and gear up the stock motor and see some improvement there.

Question for you sir... will a setup like this fit the K8S and do you think the chassis handle the power and torque?

I totally missed this comment.. this setup would not fit. Motor is too long for the stock location. Mgm has a combo specifically made for the kraton 8s now which should be pretty good. There are other 12s options though like flier esc and a castle motor or similar.
