​@@govnorelven4036 Canonically, no. We never got any explanation as to why he even became a swordsman to begin with, or who trained him (although, my guess is Future Yajirobe). His original sword being Tapion's sword had been a popular fan theory since the movie's released because of the ending, but the only reason Tapion even ended up on Earth in that movie was because of the Dragon Ball were used to free him from his music box, and they no longer exist in Trunk's timeline. Ironically, Tapion's debut movie itself debunks that theory by directly tying his freedom to Shenron's survival, which mean it also debunks the only potential origin story we got for Trunks even using a sword. Which is sad, since I always liked Tapion as a character and liked the connection between him and Trunks as a kid.
