This theme feels and hits even more tragically with the announcement of Akira Toriyama’s passing. I honestly bursted into tears after hearing that he passed away. I can’t believe he left us! He had so much more to give! I can’t recall the amount of times I fell into dark moments in my school years only to turn to Dragon Ball Z for motivation. Even now, it still has a major influence in my life. I honestly feel like a part of me died with him. Honestly it doesn't even feel real to me. I had to sit and think about it for awhile. Dragon Ball Z is what made anime cool in the west! Had it not been for it, many of the anime that currently exist would have never happened. A lot of them took inspiration from it and created their own fictional worlds to tell their own stories. I'm sure there are so many forms of music, anime, and just entertainment in general around the world that probably wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for his work to inspire and influence so many people. So many Athletes, creators, and many more that were moved in some way, shape, or form by his works. It hurts to type all of this, real heavy knot in my stomach right now. The gravity of this is slowly setting in. I never really stopped to consider that Akira Toriyama was behind all of those moments and many more. There was so much emotional weight in that anime, and ultimately in that man. RIP to the Godfather of all manga writers and drawers. He was the goat manga creator of them all!!

Damn, when the electric guitar comes in at 0:24 it always sends a shiver down my spine. The scene itself is so heartbreaking, very rarely have I been that moved to tears by an anime and it's probably the only time I literally cried my eyes out the first time I saw it years ago. And I still cry everytime I see it even if I'm 32 :D It is so tragic, I'm sad for Gohan but I'm even sadder for poor little Trunks who must have felt like his whole heart and soul were torn to pieces forever in that moment.

As a kid I cried when Gohan died. My mom felt HORRIBLE. Cause she rented the movie for me and I was so excited to watch it. I didn’t know anything really about it because I think the show was either just now explaining that or something. It’s been years. Watching everyone die and then Gohan’s death at the end got me lol. That kid was bawling his eyes out. That’s probably why one of my favorite episodes is when he goes back and just absolutely dominates the androids.

I cried seeing this. They took the most badass form of Gohan. The non nerdy, kickass, fight to the death, yet gentle and calm like his father Gohan and killed him. Made me sad

This theme still haunts me.. there is so much about this music that stirs my feelings. I know there is no sound of rain in the theme.. but i can still hear it. This had no reason to be this good. I miss the animation from the 80's and 90's, damnit.
