Good points, though i cant help but feel that if he stayed ruthless and killed Yhwach in the first war, there wouldnt be an invasion in the first place. Though it would lead to a whole heap of unknowable troubles possibly worse than a quincy invasion (ie hell overflow, world imbalances, no heir to SK.)

Well, he can learn kidos for healing. But it's very likely that he's already mastered his bankai in the hell arc, since it's been 12 years after the Quincy war arc. And as stated by Yoruichi, the minimum time to master a bankai is 10 years.​@@MrRevolation

One thing I will say about Unohana, she quite literally only revealed her strength to Kempachi and only very few knew who she was, before that she was purely a healer. So Isane is actually a decent replacement because Unohana never used her strength in combat. Plus who in the entirety of the Gotei has anywhere near the healing capabilities of her. She is quite literally the best suited captain for squad 4 outside of Unohana. They are a healing division, nobody is asking them to fight wars

True, but we don't even know how good of a healer Isane is. We don't know what her zanpakuto does at all either, not even her Shikai. The thing with Unohana is even though we didn't see her strength before, we knew she was insanely strong due to the data books (out of the captains, her stats are second only to Yamamoto's), and the other captains showed fear of her, even if it was done comedically. Then she proved it in the fight with Kenpachi, where we see not only how good of a fighter she is, but we also see exactly how good at healing she is, as she literally brings him to the brink of death, instantly heals him before he even has time to hit the floor, and then believes he's passing out for a moment. And she does that hundreds of times, over and over.

Name one thing she has done combat wise for the current Gotei. Nothing, so we know she is strong but she might as well not have that power at all if she was never going to help the soul society when it came to combat. Also we know she is good enough of a healer to keep Kensei and Rose alive after what happened against mask, should be more than enough. But moral of the story, if Isane can’t fight that’s not much different than Unohana who refused to fight

I imagine that there is a legitimate reason none of the vizard captains use their masks in combat anymore. If it was an individual choice based on overestimating their abilities or underestimating their opponents, then we could only expect one or two of them to make that mistake; but, for all of them to follow the same pattern seems like too much of a coincidence. It's likely some kind of restriction was placed on them upon returning to the gotei 13, or there was some foreseen issue that came from using their hollow powers further.

The only reason I could think of for them not using their Hollow Masks it maybe cause it burns rapidly through their Spiritual Pressure so combing it with their Bankai likely causes them to burn through their Spiritual Pressure twice as fast.

Sounds like a good try, but when the Vizards were introduced, we were told that the masks have time limits (which seems to vary between them), but that is all. They never indicate that masks consume spirit or anything else--this, and the lack of a reason given for the Vizards no longer using their masks seems to just be some oversight by the author.

I would imagine it being forbidden by the new Central 46. That makes the most sense. Although Mashiro is seen using it in Hisagi’s training, but she isn’t a captain. There have been some Bankai’s that were forbidden as well.

Even if the Hell arc gotei are weak, they still have a lot of strong allies from outside, Urahara squad, the other Vizards, Isshin and if the situation gets really catastrophic then maybe even the Arrancars, Fullbringers and surviving Quincies could join them. And besides all that there are multiple lieutenants that have achieved Bankai as well. We don't know if any of the previous iterations of gotei had such vast assets available in the past

I don't get this notion people always seem to have with Bleach characters specifically, they had their moments in their arc and that is enough, truly. You have to consider the fact that these are beings that live thousands of years, you will never see them at their best because they will keep growing, we only get to see them the way we do because a human boy got intangled in their schemes. And not every character needs to win or shine, that's realistic in a war. We've already seen what they can do with hollowfication for the most part, we've seen their individual shikai and most of their bankai, we've gotten to know their characters, flaws and all... What else do we need? Honestly. It's the same with people wanting the Fullbringers to do something when it's not even their war to begin with, and again we've seen pretty much everything they can do and who they are. I don't come across this in other anime communities as much as bleach. Let's be reasonable. Not even Ichigo, the main character, understand much about his own allies which makes sense because they are ancient, and we're following his story. It's why things like Aizen's backstory don't matter and it still works. Yes it would be cool if Yumichika pulled up on Yhwach with some broken Bankai and managed to permanently scar him or something, but it isn't necessarily. The things people want almost feels like fanfiction.

Preety solid rankings. I will personally place Toushiro at 3, Byakuya at 4 and Mayuri at 5. My reasoning behind that is Mayuri's true power lies in his prep time much like Batman, but if a battle starts and he has no time to prepare he will not perform nearly as well as if he has time to prepare beforehand, unlike the other 2. As for the reasoning behind Toushiro being 3 is for the the points you have already said and the fact (more like a hint) from the current Captain Commander is that not now but in around 100 years Toushiro will probably surpass him. i doubt the manga will go that further in, but Hitsugaya is like the opposite of Yamamoto, strongest fire zanpakuto> strongest Ice Zanpakuto. Not to mention Toushiro has said multiple times that he can't control his power very good and is always holding back because it may harm everyone around him, simillar to how Yamamoto was harming everthing when he released his bankai.

7:00 I'm not 100% on this bit for Iba's characterization here. Yes, Iba was initially a part of squad 11 and steeped in their traditions and school of thought, but unlike Ikkaku, Iba recognized that staying in squad 11 had no advancement potential, so he left for squad 7, where he presumably would have rounded out his talents in kido and other abilities in order to earn his position as lieutenant. What little we know of Iba's character is that he is ambitious, he takes his job seriously, and he puts in a lot of hard work to reach his goals. The only thing with Iba is that all we get is the implication that he has put in the hours, as everything about him is shown offscreen.

I remember seeing a video done by Mr. Tomo a while back and I think he made a great point about the end of series Gotei 13 being a very top heavy organization compared to other iterations. Looking at them I am inclined to agree as in terms of raw stats (i.e. strength, speed, reiatsu, etc.), this iteration is dominated by four captains namely Byakuya, Toshiro, Kenpachi, and Shunsui. If you expand the analysis to all round abilities you would have to add Mayuri because even though he is probably one of the least impressive captains in terms of stats, he more than makes up for it with his genius intellect, his ability to adapt and counter his opponents, and tactical brilliance. Outside of that top 1/3 and some change we have three captains who it is fair to wonder if they are even powerful enough to be captains in Isane, Iba, and Lisa. And then you have another 5 who while clearly powerful and capable enough to be captains, at this point I feel we can safely say they would not have a prayer of taking on one of the top five in a one on one fight. The loss of Yamamoto was ultimately a blessing in disguise. Because on the one hand it deprived the Gotei 13 of their strongest Captain by far, keep in mind this is the guy who was so insanely powerful that even Aizen and Ywach did not want to take him head on without having a counter-measure in place. But on the other hand, it cleared the way for Shunsui who was objectively a far superior leader and as TYBW demonstrated quite well that is far more important than individual power and prowess. If we get a Hell arc and assuming everyone lives among the current captains, I think the two with the most potential to shake up any rankings are Toshiro and Kenpachi. Toshiro because it has been hinted he has the potential to one day match or possibly even surpass Yamamoto and Aizen given his youth, his already ridiculous power, and his parallels with Yamamoto and his very likely parallels with Aizen. As for Kenpachi, it was made clear in the battle against Gerard that he was not able to fully access his Bankai's power because his body could not handle the strain.

Kenpachi with a mastered bankai might end up genuinely unbeatable in a straight up fight, like straight up impossible to clash blades with him and not be cut to ribbons no matter how strong you are. He’s already like that for a huge amount of the verse, mastering the power his bankai provides(likely much much more than he was able to access his first use) and being able to think critically would mean the only real shot anyone has against him would be through hella prep time, a direct counter and an ambush. He’d be like Gojo in the sense that certain hax can beat him(All mighty, Ichibe name powers) but unless you’re one of the few with them you’d need to prep out a way to seal him without him being able to go all out. I pray for whoever has to box that mf idc if they from hell or Cthulhu’s bathtub

@@ianharrison5758 Unless you have some hax abilities like Shunsui or most of the Sternritter. Your best bet might be to simply drag out the fight once he unleashes his Bankai. My thought is that Kenpachi likely will always have a limit on how long he can keep his Bankai active due to the sheer strain it puts on his body with the more he taps into it, the shorter that time will be. Of course there is a big question of "if" a given character could survive that long. In terms of raw stats, I am inclined to say Kenpachi is probably the strongest Captain by the end of the series and it is why he is one of the two that I feel have the most potential to shake up anyone's rankings if we get a Hell Arc.

Given the parallels he has to Yamamoto and the likely parallels to Aizen, there is no question in my view that he has the most potential of the 13 captains. The real questions in my view are (1) will Kubo allow him to achieve this potential and (2) will it actually mean anything? Kubo was very bipolar in his writing for a lot of the characters and Toshiro was definitely one of them in my opinion. It often reminded me of how Kishimoto wrote Sakura in Naruto though it never got quite that bad hence why I call it "the Sakura effect" and not "the Hitsugaya effect", "the Komomura effect", or "the Shinji effect".

I'd probably put Byakuya over Toshiro tbh since he's an all rounder and Toshiro for the most part uses his zanpaktou, while Byakuya has efficiency in kido and a master in shunpo. Toshiro might be efficient in kido as well but we never really see him use any kido spells iirc.

I kinda lowkey hope Isane gets an animated fight in the hell arc where she basically like shifts her normal attitude and just like blows everyone away with a decisive win and saying something like "You didn't think the former LT. of Retsu Unohana would be weak did you?" like I would shit a brick if shes had some insane sword skills. I have trouble putting Hitsugaya and his unmastered Adult form over Byakuya's power boost from the Royal Guard. Add to that, Byakuya was far more experienced and a balanced fighter overall. Theoretically, Adult Toshiro is broken, but Byakuya post Royal Guard True Bankai wouldn't be? I'd have to slide Toshiro below Byakuya right now. Mayuri being 3...I mean, I get it because of his scientific strategies. But we all know by the standards of raw power, he's not even top 7? But I'm fine with him being 3. Many people will disagree with Kyoraku being number 1...But I slide him into the Mayuri category. We know Kenpachi is the strongest BY FAR. But Kyoraku still has the combat experience, the ruthlessness, and a potential bankai that can enact more than one play. When people talk about Act 3 and how many people will defeat him, Kyoraku entered Act 3 while already quite exhausted, which decreases his reiatsu. Think of how True Shikai Ichigo was seemingly caught off guard by the release of Kyoraku's bankai and again, this is after Shunsui has taken significant damage from Lille. I don't think wound sharing in Act 1 acts as an instant heal. AND HE SURVIVED Lille after HOW MANY BOOSTS LILLE GOT? Shunsui should at least be named "most durable" or something because boy can he take some damage and STILL survive. Shunsui takes hits as good as your favorite joke character. That being said, he was robbed by Kubo in Theater Suicide and here's hoping that is cleaned up in Cour 3.

Shunsui is definitely a perfect choice to lead Gotei 13 both in the aftermath of the war and essentially a new era due to the sheer amount of changes he has initiated with reformers in Central 46. He's a pragmatist who knows what needs to be done in battle to save his faction and it's members. Meanwhile out of battle he has realized that the old Gotei 13 is no longer viable and thus he has changed Soul Society's social political state for the first time with his sweeping agenda and cooperative efforts have helped many.

Byakuya's heavily underrated. I wouldn't say he is strong as bankai kenpachi but stopping Gerard's attack is pretty impressive. Considering Gerard in a weaker form overpowered shikai Zaraki.

At least Isané released "Itégumo", and we got to see the shikai shape AND the name/release. Conversely, despite there being SEVERAL points throughout the anime and 4 movies where Iba's shikai/bankai could meaningfully be released. He either doesn't, or it's released offscreen. Kubo HAS to be keeping it a secret, for whatever reason. His initial attack on Ayon could've been his moment, not killing the beast, but maybe distracting it, while Yamamoto practices his "Kirioroshi" (pear-splitter) cut.

Byakuya's Bankai was able to block the strongest version of Gerard while talking to Renji and Rukia. BASE Byakuya was blocking attacks from volstandig Robert and volstandig Candice. Gerard cannot be stopped by Ice. Byakuya didn't use Senkei earlier because he knew that injuring Gerard would only make him bigger so he and Toshiro came up with a plan. Both Byakuya and Toshiro assisted each other. Toshiro's Bankai lacks killing power that's why he needed Byakuya's attack to finish him off and Byakuya needed someone to distract Gerard to use Senkei. To be fair, they both needed each other to fight Gerard, it's a fact.

Byakuya blocking the final form of geratd is inconsistent and comes from a time where kubo clearly wanted to get rid of gerard. When byakuya tried the 2 way move with kid hitsugaya, base gerard easily swatted away senbonbonzakura kageyoshi, showing the inconsistency. Them needing each other doenst mean they're equal. Zaraki needed them too doesn't mean all 3 r equal. Byakuya attacked a weakened, immobile, abd an off guard gerard in a 3v1. It's not comparable to toshiro holding gerard back on his own foe a bit of time. Adult toshiro would o e shot Candace and robert at the same time.

And in 672, we see gerards top being covered in ice connecting to the head that was just taken off.

To be fair Unohana didn’t really have an amazing battle feat until it was revealed that she was the first Kenpachi only for her to die so zaraki can get a power up. The only time we saw Unohana is strong was during the regai arc which is sadly a filler where she was always catching Yamamoto off guard with bakudou and that no incantation hadou#88 which to be fair is one of my most favorite fights 😂

I cannot agree with this and i usually love your vids. But, Soifon is stronger than Rose and Kensei, Fully master Shunko is just to strong for them just like Mask was. Shinji is over Rukia. Even after 10 years skip, i do not see Rukia mastering her bankai enough to make up for the experience advantage Shinji has. Maybe after 50 years. Mayuri 5 and byakuya 3 .Bykuya has speed, power, and cunning i cannot see him bested by Mayuri or Toshiro at least for now. As for number 1 i am sorry but Kenpachi is just stronger. He survived the void of space, he can survive Shunsui bankai as well. Remember, Kid Kenpachi! You made good arguments for toshiro and scaling to bankai kenpachi damaged gerard + volstandig so you could scale true bankai to or above kenpachi but his useability of it requires time and maturity which i understand why you placed him there. Toshiro would be 1 or 2 if he masters it, not quite sure how you scaled shunsui above bankai kenpachi or even shikai kenpachi.... when it's directly stated shunsui is equivocal to byakuya in CFYOW. It's even stated only ichigo, kenpachi and aizen can beat hikone/ikomikidomoe, not shunsui. So it's clear as day whos the strongest. So quite a huge error on your part there. And if you placed shunsui above byakuya then by that statement toshiro is above shunsui because he's relative to byakuya. I don't think bankai toshiro can beat bankai shunsui, i absolutely know true bankai would slap bankai shunsui though but getting there is the problem. Base yhwach gets destroyed by shikai ichibei. Shikai Ichibei > bankai Yama ≈ base yhwach (cour 1) Shikai Ichigo + hollow horn damaged SK and mimihagi amped yhwach (no almighty) which gave yhwach universal amps in power putting him far above Ichibei. Bankai Ginjo in CFYOW was stated to fire a getsuga that rivalled ichigos one he used on yhwach in bankai in TYBW. Which means ginjo can reach that level once atleast. Ginjo was stated to only put up a good fight against hikone at almost max power. So just true shikai ichigo scales above bankai yama with ease. And thus so does aizen, kenpachi and therefore Toshiro due to gerard scaling. I know it’s hard to say anyone is above Yama but let’s phrase it this way because people think Yama is automatically the strongest, Do you think bankai Yama could touch SK + mimihagi amped yhwach? After not even one shotting a 70% power yhwach. Yhwach went from scaling to Yama being planetary to being Universal, Yamamoto isn’t even touching him and yhwach said ichigos energy was exceptional and he had no room for error. While true, that didn’t apply to true bankai Toshiro since it’s a last ditch effort and CFYOW is only 6 months after so I don’t think Toshiro can use it easily. Also it was stated that kenpachi, ichigo and aizen could beat hikone max power and kenpachi only used his shikai after hikone transformed so it’s implied that his shikai is enough and shunsui wasn’t even comparable so we know shunsui is below shikai kenpachi in CFYOW!. Toshiro true bankai scales above shikai kenpachi easily due to gerard feats such as, shikai kenpachi getting fodderised by gerard such that only bankai kenpachi could do anything. He destroyed gerard, which kept amping gerard to bankai kenpachi and then kenpachi was put down by his own power and gerard further amped w volstandig, Toshiro then negs gerard by cutting hoffnung in half and negating its abilities which shikai kenpachi could only chip. So we know true bankai Toshiro > Shikai Kenpachi and we can say, True bankai Toshiro ≈ bankai Kenpachi (TYBW) Mayuri isn’t really a “fighter”. He had to use sensors against Toshiro in close combat. We also saw zombie bankai Toshiro one shot him in shikai many times, ofcourse mayuri outsmarted Toshiro but zombies are weaker and slower and giselle is controlling him. So I would argue Bankai Toshiro > bankai mayuri TYBW if he kept his distance and played it tactically. Like spamming attacks from range. Mayuri doesn’t really have any defence either and his bankai isn’t really anything to talk about because Toshiro can just neg it using ice.

Meaning Shunsui, who was there, does not have higher spiritual pressure than Byakuya. He didn’t beat volstandig Lille. Byakuya is stronger than more than half of the former gotei.

I started watching Bleach last year and finished reading it yesterday. I would say its a fair ranking. Also it feels like the dynamic of the captains switched. You start with this group of Gotei 13 and you think like they are kinda untouchable till Aizen starts his own plan. They got all presented as very strong and we didnt seen too much from the captains at the beginning but that changed with the time, so the captains did. In my opinion its only the top 6 or 7 on the videos ranking who matchint this power feeling from the start of the series. I guess a big part of my impression is, that at least the top 6 characters we know since the beginning and we seen their growth in power and abilities over the arcs. I like the Visored as a group but I dont really like that 4 of them becoming captains, even if some of them were already captains in the past. I only really like Shinji there but I guess he is the one with the most screentime from them. Maybe they could have had made a special Visored Shinigami unit like the Kidoshu. They had a strong impression as the Visoreds got introduced but afters this arc and especially after the TYBW they mostly dont differ much from the stronger lieutenant ranks in my opinion. Soi-Fon is like always around but never really getting anything done and her last power-up with revealing her Bankau in the fight with the Espadas feels kinda ancient. And yeah, Iba and Isana also dont feels like they are fitting that good in this captain level. It feels a bit random but at least Isane is fitting into the healer position, company 4 is specialized in, like Soi-Fon fitting into that covered/special-action/assassin company 2 but they dont feel like that their feats in this ability categories is as extraordinary as a "captain level". But yeah, what would we have gotten if nit the 4 Visoreds and Iba + Isana? I dont know if I forgot somebody but I dont know anybody fitting more into that division 4 healing theme than Isana. So one big thing could be Renji into captain rank after the training in the royal palace, also the anime original fight showed that he has the strength to become a captain, a lower ranked one but Iam sure he will win against the bottom 6 captains in this list. Besides that there arent many Shinigami left to realy fit into that captain position. We seen more from Kira, Ikkaku, Hisagi maybe Ayasagawa or Rangiku but they also dont fit my powerlevel imagination of a captain but I think they can rival the bottom 6 from this tier list. People like Urahara, Yoruichi or Isshin would fit here but its unlikely they are interested in becoming captains again. Btw. the former royal guard also looks kinda empty. So I guess there is a lack od worthy shinigamis. Bleach forgot to give many lower ranked shinigamis some power-ups but its understandable when you have so many characters and you also need some of your shinigami guys to get defeated to give the antagonists a real threatening appear. But after these defeats, some mentions like they are training insane hard now to overcome their lose would be great, so you could at least pull like 1 new ability per arc or an evolved one for many side characters.

@@raijinsociety Are you serious? Zaraki is light years stronger than Shunsui. Central 46 feared him learning a simple sword style more than they feared Yama's power(ch.520 pg.17). Even Unohana is stronger than Shunsui and she admitted that Zaraki was far stronger than her in his base form(ch.525 pg.14).

I mean, if we are comparing it to the soul society arc, then yeah. Aizen and Gin were both captains along with Unohana and Yammamoto. But I think the current batch is on Par with the Fake Karakura Town arc captains. These are battle hardened survivors. Even the joke ex lieutenants have all probably had good reason to step up and grow stronger. My biggest grip with bleach is that the captains dont feel like captains i.e. leaders of men. They feel like the Avengers who happen to let their underlings be cannon fodder. Isane as a captain makes sense to me, because she doesnt need to be a fighter, she needs to heal. And i’ll bet the new squad 4 kicks even more ass in that department after she got to revamp it seeing any inadequacies during the war. I also think it’s important to factor in allies. They are leant far more additional power nowadays.

To me, Isane being the captain of 4th squad makes sense since the squad is mostly dedicated for medical rescue. Iba (if i remember correctly) achieved bankai before Renji, and I think it was him who taught Renji how to achieve bankai.

Byakuya is stronger than Mayrui and Toshiro tho, he didn't use his strongest attack in this arc which is shukei hakuteiken. And Byakuya still ran a 1v3 with the sternritters in their vollstandig while he himself was in base for a while easily. So it doesn't really matter if they where nerfed in some way becuz Byakuya is still on a different level

And Candice had been fighting for a while and went through multiple injuries long before entering a fight with him. And he was easily pierced once Pepe managed to get a hit on him. @Prinxce3_ byakuya 1v3 regular sternritters is the irrelevant feat because all of the base elite sternritters can pretty much solo at least 10 of the on their own due to aushwhalen. Byakuya did his final move on a weakened and immobile gerard with a sneak attack. In addition he had his senbonzakura kageyoshi swatted away by base gerard earlier on. Toshiro could easily stop attacks from vollstanding gerard whereas a miracle amped base gerard defeated shikai zaraki. Toshiro then held gerard back on his own for a bit.

Ichigo is the only one who can use bankai and mask for a long duration due to his incredibly high reiatsu. Ontop of that it was hinted at in the manga that using mask with bankai makes them lose control faster, so it would be too risky to use in a fight considering they may get a minute at most before the mask cracks.

Bottom 2 could've been replaced by Ikkaku and Renji. Ikkaku would suit the 4th division because it's mentioned that his healing ointment is not a tool but rather an included feature of his Shikai. 10 years should be enough time for him to unlock the real form of his bankai, which might be more about heals and support rather than physical power. Adding to this, it would be fun to add Yumichika to transfer for 3rd seat and thus can give him the freedom to unleash his true Shikai the Ruri Iro Kujaku. Naturally, Renji would be the 7th division captain. I believe he will vibe well with Iba.

Zaraki has a faster growth rate than toshiro and hes currently stronger than toshiro. Evennif toshiro gets killed off in the future, it wont be because hes too strong.
