I'm 57 years old, go to the movies since I was 5, but never in my life have I experienced anything like we did with Endgame. We Germans are not known for emotional outbursts, but Endgame was the exception. There was loud cheering, clapping and so many tears. It was epic and I doubt that there will ever be another movie that takes its audience with it, like Endgame did. For these 3+ hours we were with our heroes.

58 Year old German here ;) Growing up with the Comics and finally being able to see these Heroes came to life on the Big Screen was an amazing experience. Yes, Endgame is one of the best, if not the best Movie ever made in a Franchise. It all started way back with Iron Man - Toni Stark - and it endet with him dying. One of the saddest moments in Cinema I ever experienced, we all seen him grew with his Arc in all the Movies. Marvel really did a masterful Job with all these Movies that came before Endgame... and Endgame topped it all again.

Food for thought: He already knew Clint's name before Clint introduced himself. Clint was an Avenger, world-wide fame, no mask. T'Challa was king of Wakanda with huge surveillance and tech at his disposal. So, he used his name. Sometimes people hunt so hard for Easter Eggs, this is the kind of thing that's just overblown. Yeah, I joked about it.

The ending credits were audio only. We heard the sound from the first Iron Man movie of Tony banging a hammer to shape his first suit when he was captive in the cave. Then we got a tribute goodbye of all the actors signatures next to pictures of the heroes they played. I hope you go back to watch it as it is well worth seeing. Damn don’t roast the shit out of me but I guess the spider man movies are worth watching. I skipped all the spider man movies except the one with the other actor who played him first (saw that as a kid) & the hulk movie as it’s always roasted in the comments. Just never been a big spider man fan but that’s prob just bc I haven’t watched the movies. Watched the Thor movies, iron man movies, avengers movies, capt America movies & agents of shield just recently (now have watched AOS like 3 times & watched reactions to the whole show) it’s def in my fav top 5 shows ever, loved it, adds so much depth to the MCU. This is why Cap is such a hero. Even though the odds against him looked insurmountable, even though Cap thought he was on his own against Thanos and his whole army, he still picked himself up with is broken shield and his tired body and was willing to fight until the end. Captain America was not the strongest or most powerful Avenger but he had the true heart of a hero. It makes me emotional to think of him and what he stands for.

One of the biggest rushes in recent years was sitting in a theatre watching this, and the moment when Mjolnir flew into Cap's had, then the lines "on your left" and finally " Avengers...Assemble", the whole auditorium erupted. And just when we were recovering from Tony's death, we get that sweet end scene between Steve and Peggy dancing. One of the most surreal moments inside the cinema, Martin Scorsese can criticize Marvel as much as he wants, everyone in that room turned into a 9 year old, cheering, going wild when Cap picked up the hammer I wish I could relive that moment forever the atmosphere was amazing, just cheering like it was the world cup final idc how lame it sounds it was unforgettable

My favorite scene (that I often go back and watch for) happens right after "On your left", and it's because of the music. There's A LOT to miss in this movie.... these are just a few Early in the movie Pepper asks Tony if he would be able to rest, later she tells him "We are going to be ok, you can rest now" "All right Thor, hit me" goes all the way back to The Avengers 2012 where Thor hits Tony with a lightning bolt and Jarvis says "systems at 400% capacity" Same scene, "put the hammer down", Steve throws the hammer at his shield and it blasts Thanos from behind. Steve faces the army alone, Sam contacts him and says "On your left", referencing the first time they met. "Avengers Assemble" in the comics that's the line Steve would use all the time. Right before Steve goes to return the stones, Bucky tells him "I'm going to miss you buddy" indicating that Bucky and Steve had a conversation about him staying with Peggy and giving the shield to Sam.

@@mechanomics2649 it’s more like a fan theory or something like the case of Iron Man 2. With the little kid in the Iron Man mask when people said it was a young Peter Parker. But seriously in the clips of Peggy’s interview about her life she never mentioned a name and she never officially changed her name to the husbands name this is because Steve Rodgers reversed the order of his name to Rodger Stevens to create an ails if it was mentioned then we would have known. Even if this wasn’t the intent it’s a strong possibility because in the comics Rodger Stevens was an actual ails of Captain America it may not be officially true it’s a strong possibility at some point for retconing.

But I do have something to add: I saw the movie a second time, just because I wanted to bring my dad. He wasn't into superhero movies, but he was invested in the MCU, and I wanted to relive the experience along side him, in theater. Fun fact: In the comic books, Cap's appearance in the 1960's, thawed by the already-existing Avengers, it was a retcon from the get-go. In the Avengers comic book Cap was theoretically on ice since WW2, but Cap's title had gone into reprint stories through the 1950s, with some new tales with Cap occurring inexplicably.... if he was on ice. After the Avengers brought Cap back to life in the 60s, old fans of Cap were like --- "Wha..? He survived WW2 and fought beside Bucky in post-war adventures!" To over-correct, in Cap's own comic 5 years or so after his thawing retcon (sharing the title with the Falcon), they rectified the retcon, explaining Cap's existence WITH BUCKY in the 1950s was because the USA, after Cap/Bucky' went missing in WW2, decided to replicate the duo, imperfectly, with men selected for their near-perfect resemblance to their namesakes, with imperfect super-soldier serums that eventually drove them insane. Story was nuts, but it did fuel a small clamor for Bucky, answered with his later incarnation as The Winter Soldier. There was an evil Cap (who really truly believed through brainwashing by the government that he was the REAL Steve Rogers, the same as evil Bucky did), but they weren't evil in the '50s. I guess us old fans were hero-worshipping a future racist psychopath duo as an evil plot by their government without knowing it. Ah, well. We meant well. Some of the presentism of the '70s race-consciousness had to explain some of the ethnic slurs used by Captain America, historically, so the '50s Cap suddenly became a phony, evil Cap w/Bucky, who was an overt racist duo when they emerged from Cryo to fight the Real Cap and Falcon decades later. Did I say it was nuts? Cap and Falcon and Sharon Carter (Peggy's niece) fought the wicked mock-ups and imprisoned them. Only Cap had the genuine shield, and shattered the phony's. Endgame allows why there might very well have been a Captain America, alive and active, while his younger self was frozen in the ice. IF Cap did all his drop-offs, the stones, Mjolnir, etc, and appeared to Peggy the same day as he hit the ice in his 'past' they COULD be together, and it explains WHO Peggy married, and how Steve is the man she's talking about. Later, when she's old and dying, and Steve comes to her YOUNG, she asks "Has it been so long?" --- now interpretable as "Is this the day your old self (my husband) had to leave and your young self returns to public life?:" Before we see that glorious EndKiss, and possibly just after that honeymoon dance in their own home, he and Peggy went on quietly as Captain America and Captain Carter during the interim after Cap hit the water, and then was later discovered. Yes, they lived 'quietly' together, but imagine that pair settled down through all the stuff that happened in the interim. Those 'quiet adventures' would make a great movie. Endgame covered a LOT of bases. I know you're DC fans, so you might rightly mock some Stan Lee's silver age Marvel stories, but --- how did DC handle their multi-decade successful Heroes of a bygone era again...?

You can not imagine the absolute insanity in the theater when everyone started coming back to join Cap. And then to lose Tony. Highest high to lowest low. At the end of the credits there is a very brief few seconds of hearing Tony hammering on Iron from the first film. An homage to his character being the start and end. And so many call backs that felt so earned and not just fan service. Truly one of the most well written films. Emotional wrecking ball with griwth for everyone.

If it would be considered a little bit of foreshadowing, there was a dialogue in the previous movies between Cap and Tony where Cap describes Tony's personality which "wouldn't take one for the team", so for this outcome be the result was the cherry on top for this film.

What's crazy is that in an earlier Marvel movie, the older Peggy, in the present, was talking to a young Steve about how she lived her life and she was married to "a good man". She was actually already married to post-Endgame Steve Rogers , and she was pretending to be have dementia in order to keep the younger Steve out of the loop and on the correct path to save everyone.

That's a somewhat popular theory, but the directors confirmed that Steve's life with Peggy was in an alternate timeline and he stayed with her for 60+ years until her death, before returning to his original timeline to pass on the shield to Sam.

I understand your reaction to Tony's sacrifice but I also think it was a really good cap on his story arc. In all the films, there was a thread of people getting on him for being self-obsessed and kinda selfish. In the end he did the thing that Steve would, he jumped on that grenade, even though he knew it would be the end for him. He secured a future his loved ones and the universe as a whole. That is an absolutely valid end to the character. It was a bit weird at points but overall this movies was damned fun to watch and in the theater it was also magic. Again, just a room of like 300 strangers weeping about comic characters dying. It may not be 'high art' but there is something redeeming about a well made epic. There is no end credits but I really dug the signature cards they did for each main character with just epic outro music.

What a cinema experience this was, so glad you guys enjoyed it… imagine DC taking the time to weave a 10 year story across 24 movies and making you feel those emotions! I think many will agree the ending credits are absolutely worth watching and reacting to while you were still in that emotional post movie state, you would have found them as touching as the rest of the film. Even all the way to the end of the credits we get an auditory Easter egg of Tony back in the cave where it all began. As for why Sam was given the shield- Bucky is too troubled to be able to be the upstanding figure Captain America needs to be. If you go back to the beginning of the movie, Steve is leading a support group… taking up the same helpful mantle that Sam used to do when they met in Winter Soldier ( ‘on your left’ were Caps first words to him several times too… which Sam reiterated during the big portals scene), recognizing that Sam’s servant leadership was what the world needed. And at the end Sam takes Steve’s mantle in return. Thanks for taking us with you on this journey, can’t wait to see you learn the aftermath of this one in Spider-Man Far From Home!

This is an Epic film experience that will be lucky if its ever repeated. SO many pay-offs. May have been mentioned below, and I love that you pick up so many of them. The *BIGGEST* thing that kills me on a re-watch is when they're about to start the "Time Heist" and Nat is the one that says "See you in a minute" when she's the one that doesn't return. Its heartbreaking. Other Things like: - Tony hugging Peter Parker, after in Homecoming, Pete thinks Tony's hugging him and he sayd he's just getting the car door. - Cap calling out and calling Spidey "Queens" after the exchange where they're from in Civil War - Spidey's "Instant Kill" paying off, and - Black Panther saying "Clint, give it to me", when in Civil War, Clint says "we haven't met, I'm Clint" and Black Panther says "I don't care".

Cap had made numerous sacrifices, starting with his life - going down in the plane with the bomb. Now, at the end of Endgame, he became just that little bit selfish, by staying back in time and getting his 'happily ever after' with Peggy. Meanwhile, Tony, who Cap had accused in the first Avengers movie of never being the guy to make the ultimate sacrifice by laying down on that wire, did so by putting on the gauntlet and snapping Thanos and Co., out of existence.

Fun Fact: In the line-up at Tony's funeral, you'll notice a mysterious kid - that kid is actually the kid from Iron Man 3. In the comics Hulk does become "Smart Hulk" also known as "Professor Hulk" In the comics, Sam does actually inherit the mantle of being Captain America. I love the moment when all the ladies have their moment - it honestly felt like a pin-up page in the center of the comic with a big two-page spread more like one piece of art rather than your usual comic book panels.
