Love that you guys understood that Thor being in the state he was were a coping mechanism of the trauma and how everyone cope differently, most reactors it goes over their heads and think the joke is that he's fat now, not the underlying trauma being dealt with, since in Thor's mind he had the chance to stop it all and he didn't succeed, that is why he in a state of PTSD "I went for the head" after killing Thanos.

3:02 Mark! Howdy! 🤠 Hmm. I used to wonder why a family member would need to ask what another family member's condiment preference is because at a certain point ot should be memorized! However, Dad's exposure to Agent Orange has slowly caught up with him over the decades, and in his late seventies up to his current age of 83, it really seems to be dumping on him all at once as if catching up. 😳 He's very forgetful, especially since his brain stroke. 🧠 So he is somebody that asks questions that he used to know the answers to. But with young and healthy people, like this family, what's their excuse? 🤔

Brie Larson shot her scenes for Endgame before her scenes in Captain Marvel, so... Also, all the quantum realm stuff with time travel and whatnot, is based off of real, current, quantum theory. Quantum theory is literally INSANE. The laws of the universe as we know them simply do not apply. They aren't actually changing the past. It's better to think of them as different dimensions, than the literal past. Like Banner said, when you travel to the past, that's your future, and it's impossible for your future to change your past. Them going back, creates a branching universe from their past where they changed things, leaving their timeline unaffected.

I will assume someone else mentioned in comments but there are diff thoughts on time travel. Marvel is using the idea that changing the past doesn’t change the future, it just changes that point in the past, then that decision point would then create a new timeline, NOT change your current timeline. Which is why hulk explained that killing baby thanos wouldn’t work.

One of the best things about the Black Widow movie is seeing Endgame again; Natasha's grief and motivations are made even more apparent because you know she's also thinking a lot about Yelena and her parents being dusted, especially after just being reunited after so long 😢 It's hard to know if the other Avengers like Steve even know what Natasha lost on a personal level thanks to Thanos.

So they only snapped back those who disappeared. So that means for example the helicopter crash that Fury saw at the end of infinity war, if anyone else was abroad that wasn't snapped away, they are still dead. When you think about it, it is kind of messed up. You only bring back those who were dusted, but leave gone those who died because of the dusting...
@Stogie2112
@Stogie2112 Жыл бұрын
It's unavoidable collateral damage, so to speak. People died indirectly from Thanos's snap. In warfare, people die, and you can only do your best and save as many people as you can. You can't save everyone.
@cliveklg7739
@cliveklg7739 Жыл бұрын
@@Stogie2112 except with the infinity stones, they could have been restored as well. It isn't collateral damage, it is a HUUUGE oversight in the decision. "and save as many people as you can." Except the could have literally saved more with the infinity stones. The stones could have restored the collateral damage as you call it, just as easily as those who were snapped. There is no death restriction. The only restriction was the mindstone victims which are basically absorbed by the stone (in a ridiculous side rule and lazy writing to put a 'sacrifice' to it, but oh well).
@Stogie2112
@Stogie2112 Жыл бұрын
I suppose that they could have built another Gauntlet and tried to bring back all those who were killed indirectly. However, Banner almost died from using the Gauntlet to bring back everyone from the Snap. Stark definitely died from using it. I don't think that Banner or anyone else would want to risk using it again. The Soul Stone (not the Mind Stone) demanded a sacrifice. It's not lazy writing. In the Marvel comics, it does have a special wisdom and purpose. An entire universe exists inside the Soul Stone, with billions of souls in it.

The culmination of years of buildup ,finally paid off. In 2008, as a 13 year old, I saw a trailer for this little indy film called Iron Man and throught it looked interesting. A dacade later I was in line in the cinema for this one. My only gripe was I thought they wasted what could have been a great subplot with Thor's trauma. Its prettly clear in the film that Thor has PTSD but they just use him as the butt of fat jokes. Its almost sadistic how much pleasure the script takes in shitting on a character who is in mental pain and anguish. I mean, he literally has half the intelligent life in the universe getting dusted on his conscience, since he was only one who could have stopped Thanos. The two characters who could have recognised the symptoms were Cap and Rhodes since they were veterans, but no. I mean, in the scene where the team is having the meeting and Thor is clearly struggling, just have a shot of Cap and Rhody glancing at each other. And after the meeting, have like a minute long scene where they both quietly approach him together and ask if he's okay and needs to talk. Thor can unconvincingly shurg them off like "I'm fine, no really gentlemen, I'm ready" and walks off leaving Cap and Rhody facing each other. Cap doesn't have to say anything here, he looks worried at Rhody, who says "Cap, we need him, we can't afford him on the bench for this one". Cap clearly still worried about Thor concedes "Ok" and end scene. Thematically it works cause it helps illustrate the stakes. The Avengers are going into the most important battle they've ever faced, and the situation is soo serious, they can't afford to have, argueably, their heaviest hitter sit this one out. It can still dovetail nicely with the scene where Thor meets his mother in the past. The direction they took was disappointing, it wasted the great performance Chris Hemsworth put in.

I really feel like a lot of people don't understand Thanos. He is a very morally upstanding person but he suffers from post-traumatic psychopathy. He genuinely thought that what he was doing was for the good of the universe and that he was the hero for being willing to make the tough decision to do it. Once it was done, he didn't want anybody to have the Temptation or the power that came with those stones including himself which is why he destroyed them. He wasn't trying to become all-powerful or to rule anybody or anything, he simply wanted to make the universe a better place after what happened to his people.
@Stogie2112
@Stogie2112 Жыл бұрын
There is nothing "moral" about Thanos, his plan or his actions. A "moral" person doesn't slaughter trillions of people. He was a sociopath who only cared about getting what he wanted. He killed people on a massive scale, all because his people on Titan rejected his ideas. They called him "MAD" and rejected his idea of killing half the population, so he became obsessed with proving them Wrong and himself Right. If Thanos had really been on a moral quest, he would have used the Gauntlet in a benevolent way. With an infinitely powerful Gauntlet, he could have reformed all sentient beings' minds so that they would not destroy themselves. He had many other options. He chose genocide instead. All he wanted to do was KILL. He tried to play God. He had the ultimate God/Messiah delusion. He wanted to control/save the Universe and have everyone be grateful to him (his own words). He didn't do anything for anyone else's good. He did it for his own good, for his own self-righteous ego.
