I think this makes a lot of sense too just because DC's heroes are so often inspirational figures you're meant to aspire to, so for a lot of characters like Batman they make it a huge deal that he's a normal human who beats the odds. Whereas with Cap, they don't really commit to that angle (with creators not even all agreeing with whether he's superhuman or not) because we as readers don't have access to super soldier serums and indestructible shields. And this goes for most of the other examples, too; Nightwing's just good at doing flips, Daredevil has his impossible radar sense. Bronze Tiger is just well-trained, Black Panther has magical fruit powers and an indestructible suit made of fictional alien metals.

As a longtime Marvel fanboy, I attest that what you have said is 100% true. The difference between Marvel and DC, boils down to how each world handles their lore. Marvels martial arts/Hand-to-Hand are more rooted in realism (as much as a comic can provide), whereas DC operates in the martial fantasy side of things. Marvel heroes are weighed against comparable beings, while DC martial artists function along the lines of movies like Hero or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, anime like Fist of the North Star or Dragonball Z, or games like Tekken or Mortal Kombat. There are outliers to be sure, but hands-down DC takes the hand-to-hand ratio!!

As a fan of both Marvel & DC myself, I agree with this video. Indeed, DC has more reverence for martial arts & cqc/h2h combat and its intricacies... It shows even more with their fight scenes too, most especially in films

I’ve always said this about DC their artist are the vast majority guys and gals who are just humans who train constantly and also most of their best fighters are 360 degrees from Batman in someway

If a had a dollar for every time someone *immediately* brought up Lady Shiva as the bestest most powerful h2h fighter ever when discussing martial artists id be able to get a trip across the globe

I agree DC has more focus on the peak human martial artist and arguably more profound on no enhancements alone but I disagree with almost everything else you’ve said Batman uses many gadgets in fights as do others in DC like nightwing. captain America has one gadget and that’s his shield which he doesn’t have in every single fight. He’s also lost his SSS and best multiple super soldiers without his shield. Just because marvel has superhuman martial artist doesn’t mean you can take away or devalue their learned skill set. Vibranium suits, a shield, chi enhanced fist etc don’t mean They excel in skill or fights because of the enhancement. Black panther has trained in every known and unknown martial art. Captain America has trained with the best fighters, gymnast and tacticians available. Electra is the most dangerous women in marvel based on skill alone. Iron fist trained in K’un-lun. Wolverine is actually very skilled and experienced in combat from being centuries old Point is non of these characters are good just because of their enhancements. Spider-Man on the other hand I would agree with because he became what he is after his enhancement.

Does DC have better martial artists? It really depends on how you consider it. DC has more notable ones than marvel. How many people know of colleen wigg from marvel comics? I think it might be more of a character recognition thing than anything else.

I do agree with you on this one. Most of marvel's best h2h fighters are amped/use high tech equipment/enhanced superhuman drugs on top of their skills/regeneration/adamantium skeleton/superhuman senses(daredevil/wolverine) while Dc's is peak base humans doing absurd feats based on skills/feats/statements alone. Spiritual chi Amps(Iron Fist) and etc. The only one who can compete is Shang Chi just based off straight skill and H2H feats/statements. Everyone else in Marvel is super powered on top of their skills to back up. I agree with your whole take on this one. Dc has better base peak skilled H2H fighters than Marvel. But Marvel>>>Dc still tho.

Well thats just it isnt it, DC is all about the mythos legends gods who can do anything, and Marvel has always been about Science Tech and interpatation of legends to fit the real world, sort of science experiment gone right or wrong depending on the character. IMO I always thought that Batman was on the same level as cap and black panther physically not because he was gifted his abilities but because he trained for them the peak man, hence hes a legend for it. However cap is a legend for what he did after he got enhanced ya feel. Mythical Gods and legends and Marvelous Heroes and monsters, its what makes it so compelling

It called a hook, titles are important to attract people to the discussion. If people who have different opinions than me know, that is a simple opinionated video they will most likely avoid having a discussion. I don’t want echo chambers.
