Agreed. 185 helps Chandler. Have a regular training camp and then just not cut for the weigh in. Whereas, Connor gasses even faster, and the extra weight slows down his striking, and reduces his power.

And not only does it call into question his off-season activities but also how seriously he is approaching the fight if he can't even be bothered making a weight cut AND has to load the dice like that against Chandler. It would just be a Catchweight to lure a reluctant Conor back. There's no way that either he or Chandler are competitive in the MW division.

Conner has to called for a 185 lb bout because he can't effectively lose the PED-inspired muscle bulk he intentionally put on. I hope Michael Chandler moves on and just fight in his own division (there's still a couple of fights that make him relevant). But, Chandler won't move on from Conner because UFC overall pay sucks and everyone is looking for the huge cash chunk a Conner fight would most likely bring. An aging fighter like Chandler, with only a couple - at best a few - years left in the lime light, would fight Conner at 205 lb if Conner wanted it - that's how pathetic and low ball the UFC is. If this is true and a date materializes, look for some publicity stunt - like a chair thrown at a bus with kids on it or something, or Conner talking negatively about a dead relative of Chandler's. These fit the schema and genre of what the UFC has become. The question is...how long will ESPN/Disney put up with this a CEO slapping his wife but faced no consequences, fighters like Colby wearing the MAGA hat of man who talked about cancelling the Constitution, and again a CEO's full support of a man under 90+ indictments. I can see the bricks edging out towards a potential total collapse.
