i absolutely loved new 52 Kara especially when she became a red lantern,plus it's easy to see why she would appear emo.she just got to earth and shit was literally happening to her left and right nonstop.But i always loved Kara no matter which version but then again she's my favorite fictional character

Exactly. She was more real. She had to deal with the loss of basically an entire planet. For her it was sleeping while she still had a planet and a family, to waking up on a strange planet, with strange powers. And her cousin that supposedly should be a baby was already older than her. And he had to break the news that Krypton was gone. So of course she needed time to grieve properly. People were simply used to the more fake versions where she simply came to terms with what had happened and acted like nothing had happened. She was never shown actually truly grieving over her loss. In the New52 they tried that approach. To show the grieving process. And how it should be, that it takes time. More towards the end she had already come to terms with what happened, her loss. But by that time people didn't gave her a chance Maybe because most people read comics to escape reality and not be reminded of it. Her comics now in Rebirth are in my opinion x10 times worst. The artwork... Terrible. The stories... Painful to read. In fact comparing selling numbers and DC titles. Any Super-anything title (with the exception of the very first title) aren't even in the top 10. Last time I checked Action Comics was below the top 20.

I really hate Rebirth Supergirl even more. The artwork... Terrible. Seems like I'm reading the Powerpuff Girls. And the stories... Equally terrible. Also the part where the Regeneration Matrix wasn't available to New52 Superman but was suddenly and out of nowhere available to Kara, was also a DC total screw up. The kryptonite cloud being responsible for New52 Superman being healed of his Doomsday genetic condition, plus the it was responsible for Kara loss of power, is totally fake. It's 100% incorrect information.

So here's my problem, I love that they are readjusting her personality it's not make her emo, but not at the cost of breaking five volumes of continuity. The new 52 Supergirl had actually been on Earth for a couple of years now, moreover, she actually made a couple of human friends and gained the love interest. so for them to basically retcon all that and said she's only been on there for the couple of months really irritated me. on top of that, giving her human handlers and telling her that she needs to go to high school was ridiculous.

This may sound a little strange but I've always related to Clark Kent, Believe me I'm no superman; but I've always had a gift for bringing out the best in people( that I think is Clarks true power). It became a little game of mine pointing out parallels between the lives of the big blue and I and it became especially helpful when my father was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago. Recently in October he passed, and I can truly say I'm humbled by the kindness shown to me and my family, I'm thankful for every gift that people have given me. So I'd like to thank you, you may not realize this but your video on earth two Superman specifically the one on one Clark had with his father truly helped me to work out my pain. Hot damn... I was introduced to the DC multiverse in 2006 with Infinity Crisis, which introduce me to Superman's history also. I was really into it, following the rebirth and this Supergirl run along with the Power Girl one. Loved it! Enjoyed discovering someone else about The dc heros other than Batman. ... But man... I spent so much time to learn and invest into lots of comics post 1985 Crisis that the new 52 reboot made me lose track and interest into the dc universe. I learned about Rebirth and only thought "Good god, again?" I really wish dc editors could compromise and establish a strong linear timeline, but again! They already tried and did and probably will do it again. I'm just bumped Power Girl seemed to have disapeared from DC's existence and Supergirl changed again. Two of my favorite characters. Oh well... let us see what the future has up it's Sleeve. I love your channel Rob, keep it up, from Golden Age to Modern age. Very informative.

He loves it so much he gave total incorrect information about how Superman was really healed from his Doomsday infection, and how he lost most of his powers. It wasn't the kryptonite cloud that took away Supergirl powers. It was because of a shitty total BS excuse DC made up. Also what fixed Supergirl powers was the kryptonian Regeneration Matrix that ship was equipped with. Which funny enough wasn't available for New52 Superman to heal himself, because his Fortress, which was referred many times as being the greatest repository of kryptonian knowledge, had no knowledge of said technology. But out of nowhere to fix Supergirl powers and not simply kill her off and replace her with her Convergence doppelganger, they decided to make that technology available to her. Simply out of nowhere. Although the New52 version had been a little rough initially, towards the end Supergirl was starting to become more and more like her pre-Flashpoint version, mainly because she had grieved and came to terms with her loss. In that regard I admired the New52 take on Supergirl, she was angry and had difficulty not being angry, because she had lost an entire planet of people she knew about plus both her parents. In that regard all pre-New52 versions felt unreal because we never really saw them grieving. They simply came to terms with their loss, like it had been no severe loss. And in that regard New52 felt more real. How many times do we see people killing themselves over grief of losing someone very dear to them. And people were complaining about Supergirl not being cheerful enough. New52 was getting there, if people had only shown patience.

Humdrum​ And funny enough Rebirth is already losing in terms of sales. I mean they complained about New52 loss of sales, but before Rebirth, when New52 was being brushed under the carpet, in May, Marvel was ahead by about 6% in sales. Then came June, the month of Rebirth and Marvel was still ahead by 5%. Then came July and DC gained the lead and was beating Marvel by basically 5% in sales. Immediately in the following months although still in the 5% range the sales started to drop, this when Marvel was and still is going through some messed up times. The most recent numbers made available, of the month of October show Marvel once again in the lead by almost 6%. So Rebirth gave DC a reprieve for about 3 months and it's already showing signs of loss of breath. And Marvel hasn't even put their house in order. When and if they do, something tells me that it's gonna happen to Rebirth what happened to New52, only a lot more sooner. They're already mentioning another Crisis, that's coming to reshape the whole DC verse once again. I know one month losing to Marvel doesn't mean anything, yet. But if this month and the following months keep this up, I guess DC will have no other choice but to do the smartest move. Reset the whole thing. Honestly. DC can't keep playing shuffle the deck everytime the numbers are down. The problem doesn't lie with the comics, the same way that the New52 wasn't the problem. In fact the idea was good, it was only when the old school hardcore writers came into play, those known for disliking New52 from the start like Geoff Johns, that comics like Superman began their decent to comic book hell. Tomasi (Superman/Wonderwoman) Yang (Superman) and Johns (Justice League) simply delivered the final blow. Then they came with this idea of Rebirth and how amazing it was gonna be, and already in the 5th month of Rebirth they're already losing in the sales department. And seeing the state Marvel's in right now, that's like losing in a race against someone that's drunk.

I read all of the Supergirl comics in New 52 and she had some great character develop until near the end of the run where they started trying to end most New 52 titles and it was painfully apparent in the writing that there was a deadline. She was never unjustly upset and she was a little more mature than some other depictions. I don't like that they are constantly changing the direction of their heroes in order to try to please their older fan base because some characters really did need to become more relatable. For example, they're going back to campy with Red Hood and Arsenal and it just does not fit the characters at all.

Because she didn't de-age nothing. She was the same age she's now. This video is filled with misinformation and simply 100% incorrect information. It wasn't the kryptonite cloud that took away her powers. The kryptonite cloud wasn't even in the picture anymore seeing that to stop Brainiac from basically killing off every living being on Earth they sent the kryptonite particles that made up the cloud to the Phantom Zone. She lost her powers, apparently because of the Truth and Savage Dawn events that in no way directly connected to her. In fact it also affected Convergence Superman powers also. Making them more unstable, more weak. And the trip to the sun was not to burn off any kryptonite whatsoever. Her ship was equipped with the equivalent to a kryptonian Regeneration Matrix, and the trip to the sun was to help her powers jump start after the Regeneration Matrix healed whatever was wrong with her. A technology not so funny enough that wasn't available to New52 Superman, in order to heal his kryptonite disease and stop prevent him from dying. His Fortress referred to many times as the greatest repository of kryptonian knowledge, had no knowledge of such technology. Kara had destroyed her own personal Fortress called Sanctuary, that also possessed kryptonian tech and knowledge. And out of nowhere the technology became available to her. Also the Rebirth title, the story sucked big time, with kryptonian werewolves and that BS stuff. But it had great artwork. Now both stories and artwork suck. It's like reading the Powerpuff Girls. Also if you see the sales numbers. And how Super-related comics are going, Superman, Action Comics, Supergirl, Superwoman and New-Superman (the Chinese one) aren't even in the top 10.

I met comicbook artist Al Plastino (Supergirl's co-creator a few years back at the New York Comic-Con) and he signed a few vintage Golden Age comics that he had worked on back in the 1940's for me. Interestingly enough he would sign anything that you would present to him EXCEPT Action Comics #252 (the first comic that introduced Supergirl in which she made her first appearance) and Adventure Comics #247 (The first comic that featured The Legion of Super-Heroes) No idea why he had that policy but that was his business. He was an interesting man who left us too soon. R.I.P. Al Plastino.

I found savage supergirl much more interesting. This supergirl is the reason i stopped caring about her in the first place and found Power Girl more interesting. I'm starting to like Superman for the first time in my life because for the first time, to me, he doesn't represent everything a super hero is supposed to be. When i read Super Man comics now, i don't just see that symbol on his chest, i see a character that i can actually feel something for. A character that doesn't bore me as a representation of "justice." The internal problems that New 52 Supergirl faced, in my opinion, gave her something more i could identify her by and a much different drive than the "because i'm a super hero" that we are used to seeing all the time.

I like how the regeneration matrix was mentioned in the comic but when the Pre-New 52 Superman couldn't find it in the Fortress of Solitude he just assumed it didn't exist in the New 52 universe and gave up on reviving the New 52 Superman but it's actrually on a ship with Supergirl in it.

I think of Red Kryptonite as Green Kryptonite (poisoned) Kryptionian crystal technology. It's effects seem random because the crystals were engineered with different purposes. Once irradiated long enough to become radioactive, the crystal technology becomes red and has an effect on Kryptonians based upon the original design of the technology while being altered by the damage. So... so many unknown factors... seemingly random effects from Red Kryptonite on Kryptonians. That's ripe for the picking for Lex Luthor or even Batman to design custom-made Red Kryptonite devices.

I'm sorry, but New 52 Supergirl was a beautiful character with deep psychological trauma. Fans need to step out of this fucking fantasy world where superheroes and vigilantes dont deal with their own personal demons. And the supergirl tv show is horrible... Overtly corny. And now they've readopted that same obnoxious rhetoric of pre-52. I also actually liked New 52 Supes-- it as well was establishing a "modern" superman whom will kill you if necessary..... but he prefers to speak with you. That's both realistic and logical.

i really have to agree, with you on that Not to mention in my opinion new 52 super girl was relatively prettier. She was like a nice fusion of Both Super and power girl in one package . and making her 24 feeling her home gone and her life completely get turned up side down, who wouldn't lash out. that why her getting a red lantern ring was pretty appropriate. Lots of things about New 52 super girl was pretty on the ball, her English was bad, she was stuck on a alien planet with a cousin who she barely knows and is relatively older then, and everyone is either scared of her or wants to turn her in to a weapon. Old post crisis super girl was just a run of the mill little sister archetype. New 52 was her own woman, thats why i wish she interacted with Power Girl more often in the run.

Not how a warp drive works, Rob. Just a heads up. Actually from your description, the Phantom Drive is more synonymous with how Hyperdrives keep being described. Either in StarGate or Star Wars. Think of a Warp Drive working like a mag-lev train through space, using space-time itself to recreate the push/pull effect on the track, shrinking SpaceTime in front of you to draw your destination closer while expanding it behind you to push you closer. There's a bit more to it than that, but the key thing is, you stay in normal real space. You don't have to enter another dimension or a slip space or another realm or or the Phantom Zone or any of that. Plain old warp drive is in real space. You can see the stars growing older and younger relative to your position moving past them. You don't get that with a hyperdrive, or apparently a Phantom Drive, since it uses the Phantom zone as a short cut. That being said: both are probably faster than Warp Drive.

i think a better way to explain the usage of the phantom drive is to relate it to the mutants "portal" & "nightcrawler" combined ... nightcrawler goes to and from another dimension when he teleports but his limitation is he most of the time has to have been or has to see where he is teleporting to Portal is just as her name implies she makes portals but her power is limited to the Earth itself. now the phantom drive basically (in my head as hes describing it) uses (PORTAL)s to go to and from the phantom zone to reappear where ever you want (NIGHTCRAWLER) well its the easiest way for me to get that concept
