I'm looking forward to seeing this movie! And to answer your question: Yes, Supergirl is often very angry in the more modern comics. The CW version of Supergirl (or at least the one ive seen crossover with The Flash and Green Arrow, so far) is much closer to her Silver Age characterization (comics from 1959 to 1985)

Supergirl in the universe of the Flash movie is not the usual Supergirl. She is more modeled on the Superman from a series of comics called Flashpoint, in which the Flash saves his mom and causes the world to change--Bruce Wayne is dead and his dad is Batman and his mom is the Joker, for example. One of the changes is that Superman landed somewhere else and his landing caused destruction and the government stuck him in a bunker (like Supergirl in the movie), although even that Superman was not particularly angry. There's actually a good DC animated adaptation of Flashpoint. With as long a history as Supergirl has, there are various versions of the character and some more modern ones have portrayed her as being more angry. People who complain about the movie are people who just like to find fault and complain about movies. I went in having seen all of the other movies it references and being pretty familiar with the material and I had a blast. In the comics, Barry Allen's personality is not the same as Ezra Miller's in the films, but I'm not a purist. DC has a diverse fan base, which includes a lot of hate-filled contentious people who dislike anything that isn't exactly what they want and they are very vocal on the internet and will review bomb things because they are awful people, so I ignore other people's opinions about things and experience them for myself. I was hesitant with all the offscreen issues with Ezra but it was actually a really good movie. Very much a fan service for the Batman scenes.
