Absolutely not! I agree with you that this was more than a missed opportunity it was a half assed attempt by a clueless writer.

The transition of a substitute for the Justice League needs something big, The Justice League is a name so big that it can't be ok, it can't be good, it needs to be at least great, and more importantly, it needs to feel like it matters (and Titans felt skippable as f*ck)
@RoliverQueenReviews6 ай бұрын
You nailed it. Hell, even the transition from Dark Crisis to Titans #1 felt lazy/lifeless. If I'm not mistaken it was just a conversation with the Trinity and Nightwing? That doesn't scream important. That doesn't scream big. It screams "hey just keep our seats warm till we figure shit out."

Sorry for the late reply, but we really need a writer coming in who’s not afraid to go nuts with Titans in a good way. See, in the 70’s/80’s, Claremont shook up the X-men title and brought in new life, and Wolfman/Perez did the same with Titans. But then both books eventually started going through the motions, but X-men got a major boost when Grant Morrison came in and shook things up (not surprising considering they had already done so prior with Doom Patrol), and once again many years later Jonathan Hickman did the same for X-men. But Titans never got that past the 80’s, sure I enjoyed the Geoff Johns run (it was the run that introduced me to and got me reading comics) and a few others to a degree but they weren’t doing a ton new. As great as Tom Taylor can be, I don’t think he was the right pick to go in a bold new direction. We need Titans to truly explore some new territory rather than “let’s deal with Deathstroke, Brother Blood, and Trigon yet again”.

You’re right, it sucks cause the titans are one of my faves. My main problems with titans throughout the years is the lack of plot lines that didn’t focus on raven. Raven has gotten so much undeserved focus that just amounted to the only 2 plots she’s had for 40 years. Like the titans don’t need a big bad like that. If we actually got arcs that gave really good moments for Donna and beast boy, we would have so many great storylines. Like how you gonna have someone in Donna and no WW or other Demigods adversaries at all in the entire publishing. Then you have beast boy and no doom patrol or THE RED type of plots at all. At this point just do a rotating team and when a character leaves put them somewhere else for development. Dick and wall can go back to there books, Roy goes back the his arrow family, starfire can go on jl odyssey, raven can go to jl dark, cyborg goes to the jl, beast boy can either go back or make his own doom patrol and even make a team full of red users or a parliament team.

@@RoliverQueenReviews I also got to put the titans fandom on blast. Like on twitter they for some reason believe that dick and starfire no longer being a couple, and beast boy/raven being a couple is trashing ravens character😂. Like you think beast boy/raven is the problem of ravens character and not the plot they always give her. There’s way more credible problems with the titans than either a relationship in dick and Kory that hasn’t been a thing since the 90’s. And raven and beast boy having a more adult romance which actually progresses the characters. Starfire fans are a joke how you gonna shit on Taylor’s run just because starfire wasn’t the focus. These people never supported starfire when she was part of JL odyssey or when she had her solo in 2018. They only care about her relationship with dick or want her in a gay relationship with raven. The titans fandom is so stuck in the wolfman era it is crazy. Like Dan Abnett’s run with Donna as the leader was probably the best modern raven, Donna, and beast boy we ever had prior to Taylor of all people. Personally I think Raven and beast boy as a couple was the best thing Taylor was doing and would be better if people weren’t so obsessed with wolfman era and gave that relationship a chance.

I blame the writers and executives, all the Titans characters have been left out and forgotten for SO LONG If you don't understand the characters beyond the classic, how do you write them?? Almost all the JL members has their own Books that add to them as characters and individuals, but the Titans member has been so put aside that there is barely much to do, which is sad. The Titans could Totally be at JL level, if the writer actually cared about adding more depth to them. Like you said, Again Triggon? Again Corrupted Raven?? Give them new villains, new stories to develop them more as characters, and then you can try and make them the Main Squad, but nope. Is Tragic I guess we can only hope the new writers do them justice

I don't know if this makes sense but when they're writing a new titans comics they should take inspiration from young justice.

I agree. The titans are my favorite team and I was excited when they marketed that they were going to be the main superhero team. And while I am enjoying Tom Taylor run, I have to admit that this is honestly disappointing that his team are not trying anything new with this. There were a lot of concepts that I thought of that I felt like they could have made. For instance, like you said how they could have branched things out after Beast World but they didn’t, but I actually think it would have been better if Brother Eternity was a very loyal follower of Blackfire and grew up during the time of her rule, and wanted to use magic and the starros to conquer the universe. Another good idea, would have either the return of the Brotherhood of Evil, or a new Secret Society of Villains who want to take the Titans and all the other superheroes down. And it could honestly be a good idea to have them be connected with Amanda Waller and Absolute Power. I think those ideas would have been great and would if executed properly would give a new and different stories for the Titans instead of doing another Trigon/evil Raven story arc, or another story arc where one of the characters is a traitor.

Why do you have a better pitch than what DC has been attempting for years??? And thanks for commenting dawg!

@@RoliverQueenReviews I’m going to be honest, I’m not really sure lol. I just happen to see some concepts that have potential but are just wasted bc the writers and the editors don’t want to change the status quo. I also had another idea that would make the titans a good replacement for the league is by also expanding the roster. While I love we’ve got a titans book with the 80s roster that we haven’t seen in over a decade (comic book wise), I think they should expand the roster similar to how the original run of JLA started out with the original seven, and then add characters on the team as time went on like Green Arrow, Elongated Man, Zatanna, and Shazam. And these were characters I was hoping they would add later on, even some that are honorary members: Tempest, Arsenal, Oracle, Swamp Thing (Levi Kamei), Bumblebee, The Herald, Omen, Jericho, Gnarrk, Hawk (Hank Hall), Dove (Dawn Grager), Green Lantern (Kyle Rayner), Argent, and Steel (Natasha Irons) But honestly, I think titans worked better when they are not trying to be the next JL or trying to live up to their level, and instead doing their own thing

I am not really surprised because honestly let’s be honest a lot of people myself included like justice league was more than the titans being the justice league which failed badly.

That and they clearly just wanted a team on paper who could "replace" the league, while they sort out ALL IN. Half ass effort.

@@RoliverQueenReviewswhich failed badly really badly and proved my point that dc should’ve just say I don’t know have justice league return and bring back the teen titans and make a new team, and also a bonus stop having Jon be superman which also failed badly and deage Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy back to his 10 year old self or have teenage Jon be a imposter who's now a cyborg and real Jon could be saved by his father superman and after that we get a new team, called the super kids with Jonathan Samuel Kent superboy as his 10 year old self Damian Wayne robin Lian harper Roy's daughter and Wally's kids irey and jai west and boom problem solved everybody wins in my opinion.
