Hello everyone, I wanted to leave this comment here because I'm not proud of my phrasing with this moment at 17:33 Any way how you look at it, this comment was ignorant and stupid, but it was not my intention to say every single country in the Middle East has streets in poor conditions. I know there are paved roads and it's not streets made of gravel. It was a stupid thing to say, as I was thinking only of Middle Eastern countries that are or were in military conflicts similar to how Kahndaq is under Intergang's control. Secondly, as a kid I used to skate, and my arch-nemesis was always some tiny pebble, stone, or grain of sand that would send me flying off that board. This is no excuse for my poor phrasing, but just another reason as to why I left this in as well as the comment about the skateboard wheels. I'm not American, but I do know that the UAE has some of the most technologically advanced and clean cities in the world, and using the term "Middle East" lumping that in with all the other countries is unfair and offensive. I sincerely apologize to those of you who took offense at the comment, it was not my intent, and going forward I will not be as thickheaded as I was here. Thank you.

The “no losing” clause in contracts is wild. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil loses 80% of his fights unless it’s against normal thugs, and even then he receives injuries. Losing, coming back with more of a plan and fighting smarter is what makes a hero. Those adjustments is what builds the character up. Dwayne is just so terrified of looking weak, even in a fictional universe.
@partypete25424 ай бұрын
It's such an egotistical thing. No famous all-time great actor or actress has ever such a wild clause. Jackie-Chan, Arnold Sch or Denzel Washington don't have such things, and he thinks such a clause will make him what? More of a star?
@Malidictus4 ай бұрын
That sounds a lot like a pro wrestling thing. That is to say, failure to separate "character" from "actor". Wrestlers like Hulk Hogan and Sean Michaels were famous for either refusing to lose or adding stipulations, trying to protect "their character". That's at least a little understandable, because "The Rock" is Dwane Johnson's OC, not something Vince McMahon owns, so it makes sense that he'd be protective of that. Black Adam is not his character.
@CrabKFP4 ай бұрын
The worst part is that, a lot of characters in Superhero movies do get their shit beaten. If we talk about DC, the Batman was beaten, not to a pulp, but intelectually so, when Riddler's actual plan was put through. If we say an anti-hero being beaten, Deadpool took a beaten a lot. Being beaten doesn't make a character weak, what makes them weak id that if they don't get up. Hell, Adam could've taken a beaten when he had no power, but had to power through to save the female character or the child, and get beaten up because he doesn't have his strength, that would've been interesting

He actually has SOME of the powers that MIMIC Superman; only the source is magical. He's also not an evil Superman - he's an Evil SHAZAM. Wherein Superman's powers are a natural biological function of his alien heritage, SHAZAM and Black Adam had to be vested with theirs. So I'd argue that by and large, while they may be similar in some respects (and since they're powers are magical in nature, they do get an advantage in battles against a Kyrptonian) Superman as it stands in the longrun is going to be superior. [They have the powers that were stolen from Gods & Champions = Clark is literally descended from a Kryptonian God; and an actual God himself in all but canon acknowledgement, so long as he's under the yellow sun] * It has been at least semi acknowledged that he's factually immortal...

@petercottantail78503 ай бұрын
you rewrite everything or most of something when your writing gets to the part that would logically result with him losing. not ideal but only way I can think of to have creative freedom and not compromise at the same time. when you change stuff it can work but retconned so it feels off and unbelievable. but if you think about it, with a meta understanding of said clause, you could have some pretty intense setups for other characters by developing them a bit, and then with the audience knowing that if they ever run into theRock they would just die, it creates a twisted tension for sub characters from the main character 😅 i think this has been done before a lot so its not new but for the writers trying to not make something terrible its the best option most likely the point of the clause is ego related, but the loop hole is to make characters people actually care about instead and the risk of loss makes them more interesting. of course this is still a terrible scenario but a bit of creativity can make it work, the real issue is this kind of concept existing in a super hero universe, and one that already has been established and on a 'villian?' so this kind of invincibility would just stagnate any future of the series which is the real issue imo, not a movie but the cinematic universe it's trying to build. especially when you can't just send said invincible character to another world to be absent from everything so there's actual potential for growth like they did with the hulk

The problem with Black Adam is the same with Harley Quinn. These characters don’t really make a lot of sense outside of the reasons behind their creation. Black Adam is the antithesis of Shazam, Harley Quinn was manipulated and groomed by the Joker. Having the first films featuring these characters without that being established leaves out a great part of their characterization. @campaingsosa3002 ай бұрын
why was he fired?? serious question
@NicBrandon2 ай бұрын
@@campaingsosa300He technically was never fired. His contract expired after Justice League and the negotiations to renew it broke down in 2018, with the relationship between him and the studio apparently being so bad that WB refused to let his version of the character return (the plan being to use the Flash film to replace him with Supergirl). After Discovery bought WB and the old leadership was gone, the Rock was able to get Cavil for the film. The interim heads in charge of DC films as a division of Warner Bros (before Gunn and Safran were given control of DC Studios as a separate division), paid Henry I believe $500k in total for cameos in both Black Adam and the Flash (the latter of which was cut; it would’ve been an alternate ending that showed that both he and Supergirl now coexisted in the DCEU) and verbally promised to develop Man of Steel 2 (even though there were two Superman movies in very early development, including Gunn’s), but they never gave him a new contract. When Gunn and Safran took over, they decided it was best to reboot the vast majority of the DCEU, which included Superman (which, in my opinion, was definitely the right call). So, Henry was never fired because he was never rehired for the job after his contract expired in 2017. His inclusion in Black Adam was a result of the Rock’s ego and the studio’s attempt to goose the box office revenue (hence why they were actively leaking his appearance).

Also, green lantern gets his shit pushed in regularly, but powers through it. That's the "willpower" in action. He could fucking never. Any story fails when the main character doesn't lose. 5:00 Nothing that Zachary Levi says here is wrong. A Snyder cut didn't exist. Snyder's original movie was never filmed. He planned reshoots that never happened. That's why when they decided to go forward with releasing his cut, they had to spend tens of millions on reshoots. Also, the cut he released isn't anything similar to what he had originally planned. The movie was never going to be 4+ hours. He added all that extra filler to make it seem more grand than it really was.

@@julianseguin2748 Ah, so they just gave him $70 for the right to release the finished movie? to make your post factually accurate, you should say "the movie, KIND of existed. SOME of it was filmed." I don't get why Snyder fans cry such angry tears. They wanted an edgy Superhero movie, they got one that was a little more colorful, they screamed online until the company decided to spend the time and money to create the product they imagined (that did not physically exist before said time and money was spent) and then it came out. And it was alright. Nothing groundbreaking and nothing that would save the DCEU. Zachary Levi probably does not have a time machine or the ability to see the future, so he could factually say "no, that product does not currently exist." And then time proved that the product would eventually be created
@julianseguin27484 ай бұрын
@@Alkeeros He had a workable cut. That one was 214 minutes long. The new deal that WB made with allowed for more scenes that weren't finished. That extended the runtime to 242 minutes, almost 30 more minutes of footage. On top of that, Snyder had to cover residuals for all the actors who didn't show up in the theatrical cut. I'm not crying over anything, but I am frustrated, and I have good reason to be. FYI, the new JL was not "more colourful". It was a fucking travesty that upended the entire DCEU. It was filled with Whedon's cringe humour and sexist depiction of female characters. It had a hideous CGI moustache. A pointless Russian family. And it completely erased Cyborg's story. ZSJL might not have been some masterpiece but it was easily on par with Avengers and it could have done just as well if it had been theatres. What you twits conveniently ignore, or just forgot, is that WB and Snyder initially had two movies for Justice League. WB got cold feet and demanded he make them into one, but he had already started filming by that point. ZSJL was never promoted by WB. It was not shared on their social media. HBO Max was the only service involved. All the focus was centred around WW 1984 and The Suicide Squad, and both movies were stupidly released on that same service. As a result both films flopped and probably chipped away at the Snyder Cut's runtime, along with all the other major releases. Even then, it did all right. Despite that, WB chose to pull the plug all the same.

I don't really think Black Adam needed his own movie, but seeing as we got one, if Dwayne Johnson played this role more villainous it could've been the breath of fresh air he kept promising. It may have even been a good companion-piece to the Shazam sequel. But unfortunately he put ego over quality. Dwayne, much as I've always liked him, self-sabotaged this movie. Having the movie built around his image rather than having it built around the character showed just how little respect or understanding of Black Adam he had. He just wanted to play the character because he was powerful. He couldn't bear the idea of playing a villain or anti-hero with questionable ethics or actions. He sabotaged Shazam 2 because he didn't want to share the screen, and decided to distance himself as far away from the character as he could (the idea of losing to Zachary Levi was probably too much for him). He just wanted to eventually fight Superman in a battle he wouldn't have lost per his contract. He couldn't even be bothered to have Black Adam's hairdo or pointy ears. Getting Cavill back in his powerplay to take over was sneaky too. Dwayne never cared about what the fans wanted. Dwayne wasn't thinking about anyone but Dwayne. I'm kinda happy The Rock took this particular L. He was so sure he'd change the "hierarchy of power" in the DC Universe, only for the movie to tank, him getting fired, and the universe rebooted under James Gunn. I like the dude, but maybe if he was willing to respect the character and be part of an ensemble, and wasn't so focused on taking over everything and always being seen as the badass, indestructible top-dog who never loses and faces no challenges, this may have ended differently for him. But as it stands, the biggest villain of this movie turned out to be that massive ego of his. I usually don't actively root for someone's failure, but he kinda needed this big serving of humble pie.
