I was lucky to be able to walk among Knossos ruins on Create before they were closed of and only allowed guided tours. It was amazing.

What documentaries were like in the 1990's. The decade that felt "normal".

Oh yes...back when making a documentary meant doing true research and investing into the story telling and making sure your facts are good. Today, schlockumentaries are little more than momentary Google searches and homemade videos.

Bronze Age Collapse. Perhaps due to the explosion of Santorini. Perhaps due to an earthquake storm throughout the area. The rising of the Sea Peoples, displaced from their homes due to these disasters...who raided the Mediterranean and were recorded by the Egyptians. Such an enigma. Who were they. Some say they were the Myceneaens, themselves. Some say the tribe of Dan. Did all this happen at the same time as the Exodus? Did Dan break off and become the Mycenaeans? Or were they the Phoenicians? Think of Homer's Odyssey. Was he recounting the travels and raidings of the Sea Peoples?

Oh, Mycenaeans were barbarians in comparison to the sofisticated and fine Minoan culture!

But then, it was proven that the Minoans were, in fact, Greek, as shown by the Linear B tablets. If their language was Greek, then they were Greek. It was the Mycenaeans who ruled the Aegean.
