Its a sequential box operated by paddles on the steering wheel, you can also push or pull the gear lever to shift up or down. The display changes to red when you hit the red line,.

Totally agreed mate. In the historic GP Boavista at Porto (the same circuit as WTCC) the Escort MK1's were running right along the 70's-80's Porsche's (in both cases really worked up cars).

It's a manual with sequential shifting. The shifter itself has an actuator that's controlled by the paddle on the steering column.

Check out the paddle on the wheel just by his right hand, that's what you shift with, the stick is just a backup, and for putting the car into reverse.

@ClawedDave If you look closely there is a paddle shifter on the steering wheel. If you watch 1:32 - 1:35 you'll see the down shift. The paddle and the stick in the middle are tied together. So you can either use the paddle or the stick.

@Tj1056 i cannot explain the entire system here but what you did not notice is the shifts are being done with the finger tips by using the paddle behind the steering wheel it is on the right side of the steering column look at other videos of rally cars (modern) and onboards to get an idea...it is like a sequential shift transmission reverse is selected using the stick also if the driver want to have better control gearing through turns or corners go to a rally show and get a closer look at cars

I believe they using Rally Pedal shifter... means there is a pedal shifter on the right which you pull for upshifts and push for downshifts

I can't see if anyones posted it yet, but there is a rumour going round that Ken Block is forming a two car team in Ford Focuses for next years WRC, then driving the Fiesta for 2 yrs after that. The rumour also states that Atkinson will be the other driver

I wouldn't say he's nothing special. Ken does have great car control and a natural talent for controlling the slide. I've come to notice that he seems to get flustered when things go awry, which is quiet often in rally lol. When shit hits the fan he doesn't have that amazingly fast correction skill like the rally greats. None the less, still a great driver!

the transmision is a 6 speed sequential made by a company called tractive all alloy components are made from aircraft grade cnc machined billet aluminium and i think the gearboxes for the escorts are about £13,000 plus what ever kit he has fitted for the paddle shit mechanism , which will either be an electronic solenoid or a gas solenoid like on alot of current wrc cars

@Kurisuchianu89 Guys it's not pedals. It's paddles.Paddle Shifters that works the same way with the gear stick. The drivers can opt to use the paddles or the stick... I prefer using the sequential gear stick than the paddles.
