@@mustang8206 And I love The Doobie Brothers as well!

Doobies never wrote it. The original writers were a Gospel act and that was their lyrics. So DC Talk didn't do anything more spiritual or 'better' than the original by saying "still" - The Art Reynolds Singers - look it up.
@woofelator2 жыл бұрын
The doobie brothers didn’t write it, but it is supposed to be slang, it doesn’t really mean “ONLY all right”.

Man, the memories...This song is what opened my eyes to Contemporary Christian...I always assumed it was just hymns and organs...boy was I wrong. Hearing this for the first time was the seed that grew into me becoming a Christian. I owe alot to Toby, Michael, and Kevin. Hope to one day get to thank them for literally changing my life.

The backing band at the time for dc Talk would later become Zilch, and release an album titled Platinum in 1997. They didn't take themselves seriously. The band name came from the Monkees song, "Zilch" (having the famous line, "Mister Dobalena, Mister Bob Dobalena") one of the songs on the album is a remake of the schoolhouse rock song, "My Hero, Zero", and they named the album Platinum because they thought it was the only way they were going to get a platinum album. The lineup for the band was: lead singer and guitarist Mark Lee Townsend keyboardist Jason Halbert bassist Otto "Sugar Bear" Price drummer Rick May Mark Lee Townsend stepped away from the band during their first tour and Jeff Deyo took his place. The band would end their performance with a praise and worship song, and were encouraged by their label to release a full album with those songs while they were in the middle of recording songs for their second album, "Millennium". They did, changing their name to "Sonicflood".

Jeez. I just randomly came across this. This may be the best live performance I've seen from DC Talk...not that I've seen a bunch. I realize there were some backing tracks, but pretty much everything was tighter and better than I've seen from the band...and Kevin's a better singer than I gave him credit for. Great vid.
