Why is everybody always asking the same questions? There is so much more to know: Have you always drawn without construction lines or is this a later development? When you draw do you scan the whole paper to visualize the entire perspective or do you just build it up from one point out? Is there any specific order you like to draw faces in and why?
@basumo_6 жыл бұрын
a lot of questions that you just asked have also been asked in a lot of interviews, I recall he said that he always scan the entire canvas and always planned a rough construction while also improvise when he makes mistake along the way, he said he barely looks at the tip of his brushpen when he draw, he tried to always see the whole picture rather than focusing on one point

At the last few comic cons, I've seen Jim Lee go to Master Kim's booth to discuss art and watch his work in progress. Other famous artists also comes to him to watch his work. His artistry is leaps and bounds beyond any artists on the show floor. Not only for the details, the speed, but the overall composition of the work. If you ever wanted to watch a living Legend of art perform their skills, please stop by his booth, pick up one of his books (which Master Kim would draw a random sketch for you), and watch his work in progress.

@@shayon1174 thing is I never watched this guy so whenever I drew something I'd have no construction lines I'd start sketching everything right away. But dont rush cause this guys much older than you are. Use your construction lines and understand everything to the foundation until you are comfortable.
@gtrrohit50784 жыл бұрын
1. Let ur imagination flow get a sketchbook and just draw anything without construction lines. Visualise the planning and image in ur head like Kim does. Mr Gi has the horizon line in his head not on paper. 2. Break down this guys work. Its very hard to. Break his work down into 3d blocks and see where the vanishing points are in his work by tracing the lines back to their origin. Doing this again and again you may realize the diff ways in which perspectives are used to show diff things. We see in this drawing of his if you break down batman's head into a square the vanishing point is coming from the left side and the horizon line is above batman since we are looking up at him
@shayon11744 жыл бұрын
@@gtrrohit5078 thats what ive been doing for a year now. Ive improved a lot. Also, diversity in drawing is also necessary. I used to draw only front faces and side profiles years ago but now I have improved my art so i can draw most pf the things without reference.

@@shayon1174 you should use reference as much as u can though that's what I think cause they are observation sources. I never studied art in depth till now but I did have a habit or studying films like the godfather and their compositions.

He is definitely something else. But I don't think he is a standard that should be incorporated by everyone. He is one of a kind. I see people comparing him to others and saying he is better than people at DC which may be true, but people have to realize you not only have to have great talent to begin with, but also almost inhuman memory to pull this kind of thing off, it's not easy even though he makes it look like it is. Also side note, there is nothing wrong with using reference as a tool, and even though some people don't need it, doesn't make you any less of an artist if you use it. Memory and observation can be considered a tool as well.

My whole life I thought that the real professionals can draw ANYTHING off the their dome from any angle. I was wrong... But THIS MASTER makes me right. I'm really good at observation, drawing people, buildings objects etc. I never tried to challenge myself to record these things into my head. I'm mentally to lazy. Although i could probabaly easily do it with human drawing, I've been into the human anatomy, brachial, latissimus dorsi, gastrocnemius etc, as I was into bodybuilding.... What would be a bigger challenge for me would be to rotate the angle little by little from page to page. I would consider myself a master if I can get every angle of degree in my head, and simply start drawing. Think of batman, and draw him from angle that comic book artist don't normally draw.
