DC4818's first Mainline Excursion! (4K)

On Tuesday 5th November 2024. DC4818 led it's first mainline excursion along side DBR1254 as part of the Glenbrook Vintage Railway's East & West Railtour.
We chased it on it's first day of the tour which it ran from Glenbrook to Papakura, and then Papakura to Ohakune. From Glenbrook the two locomotives ran both long hood leading and once the train ran around at Papakura they were running elephant style all the way down the trunk!
Unfortunately for two of the clips I was unable to turn my external microphone on in time before the train came so I've reused some audio from two other clips in the video and added them to the video. It's better than completely removing the clips.

Running long hood ex Glenbrook to Papakura? Thought that was a big no no

I’ve heard it’s only KiwiRail that don’t run long hood anymore but might be wrong.
