DCAMU vs. The Tomorrowverse | How Well Is The 'Tomorrowverse' Doing

The Tomorrowverse is the name given to an American media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of superhero films, produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment and distributed by Warner Home Video. The films are part of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line, based on the comic books published by DC Comics, and the successor of the DC Animated Movie Universe (2013-2020; 2022).
The Tomorrowverse began with the film Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020) and followed by Justice Society: World War II (2021), the two-part Batman: The Long Halloween (2021), and Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022). Future films include Legion of Super-Heroes in 2023, and Justice League: Warworld. Jim Krieg, Kimberly S. Moreau, and Sam Register serve as primary producers of the films.

The DC Animated Movie Universe (DCAMU) is an American media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of superhero films, produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment and distributed by Warner Home Video. The films are part of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line, based on the comic books published by DC Comics, and feature plot elements inspired by The New 52 continuity. The continuity, established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters, was introduced in Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, which was released in 2013. Sequels to The Flashpoint Paradox, Son of Batman, and Justice League Dark co-exist with this continuity. The franchise has received positive reviews for its themes and creative direction, and has obtained high sales. As of 2020, sixteen films have been distributed. Justice League Dark: Apokolips War marks the final film of this specific line. DC Showcase short Constantine: The House of Mystery was released in May 2022 which is a narrative sequel to Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.

DCAMU should have had more solo movies. They introduced a lot of leaguers with no movies in between. They focused too much on batman.

Unfortunately these companies have to make a profit which means they have to think carefully about which characters are profitable enough to get a solo movie. But they still have major characters that they just refuse to make solo movies about..

Well I think so far the release order is the chronological order to be honest. I mean in Justice Society *person* travels back in the past to 1940something and in Legion of Super-Heroes *person* gets sent to the 31st century:) Hope it helps a littlez even if the reply was a little late

I don't know for many of you but for me the DCAMU is not over. Seriously, I don't want to get into any kind of popular debate, but this universe left a lot of things that didn't end up being resolved. And, honestly, a certain ending they gave it was more clearly seen as a kind of purge unfairly set up with the intention of using it as an excuse to reassemble a new universe that would give them more money and bigger profits from, what we could call: fan interest. An interest that would drive the fans crazy; those who were completely unaware of DC animation, and would guarantee them more fans who didn't bother to see a single installment of this universe, and after seeing a new movie (Superman man of tomorrow) would open up a new wave of fanboy madness that would bring them more hype and less numbers in low sales and interest. Especially, the kids. Well, I don't think it's working. Because the new universe is NOT bringing much hype at all, and truth be told, eliminating this universe was the worst decision they made in the entire history of superhero animated entertainment. There may be those who like the new DC Animation installments, but you have to see the reality of things to bring awareness and understanding to the terrible thing that is happening with these movies. Phil Bourassa should not have been fired. His proposals and his designs are unique, and enriched all of DC Animation. They need to bring him back. There's a reason Kevin Feige has always said, "Don't fix what's done right."

I think youre right! The DCAMU ended because DC wanted to make project cheaper, therefore the cheap animation style. And they tried to use the most popular stories, but that doesnt really work out with them only wanting to grow their character list quickly to become a full on MCU

Technically yes, from my understanding. After Apokolips war Barry creates another Flashpoint which leads into the tomorrowverse. So yes and no

Tomorrowverse movies are much much much more complex in its storytelling than DCAMU which are brainless MCU like flicks. At least the first three movies in Tomorrowverse are very character driven and written very well, while most of DCAMU was mostly a spectacle, which is sadly why I think DCAMU did better with the general public.
