This is by far the best and most comprehensive speed matching how to video out there to date. Awesome job man, and thanks so much for this.

Hi from the UK. Found your upload via a link in the latest Model Railroad Hobbyist newsletter. Just what I wanted as I'm about to start speed matching. Thanks Lee

Intermountain now installs LOCSOUND Decoders. Not sure what they've been running in the past but from the looks of things, ALOT of other DCC locomotives are all switching to the LOCSOUND decoder. I wish the ALL manufactures would switch to LOCSOUND... What a wonderful world it would be!!!

Can we still acquire the spreadsheet?

I figured is formula out just I don't know how to set up an entire spreadsheet like he did but I think you don't need to spreadsheet and just a piece of paper and a calculator. Basically its top speed desired divided by models actual top speed (50/55=90.9%), take that result and divide it by 255 (90.9% or .909/255=231.8) so you'd set it at CV5 max at 232. I hope that helps. Unfortunately the drop box link is dead but this should help you within reason.

@@SPSD458853 hoping this finds its way to you. I am going over your math to try and recreate the spreadsheet. I get the first part , 50/55=90.9% but 0.909/255 = .00356471 not 231.8. What am I missing?
@484Northern8 ай бұрын
DUH!!! Never Mind. It actually is Multiply by not divided by!!!

Hi. Great video. Would you hapen to know the max speed out of the box, of the Scale Trains GEVO Tier 4 with sound? I think you and I got them about the same time, August 2017... I'm wondering if I accidentally changed a decoder setting, as it tops out at 82km/h (about 48mph) but people seem to have toem going faster... My speed matching on Locs is to 100km/h (60mph)... -Chris
@DBRXCustomRailroadModels5 жыл бұрын
About 68-69 scale mph if I recall correctly.
@chrislef50455 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I need to figure out where in the decoder it has been reduced. Like perhaps a 'locked in' shunting speed... not sure. -Chris

Great video! I was going to use the speed table method but will try this first. I did not buy a speedometer, I built one that Joe G shared on his channel. It's Arduino based with a few sensors and a display - very simple to build and use/modify to fit your needs. If interested in the code, send me an email - address is viewable on my channel page - Smokin Big Dave BBQ and Trains

I just purchased an Accutrack II Speedometer...has not arrived yet... but definitely bookmarking this video in my Playlist. I will have to take all my other locomotives off my main though or buy some ez-track oval to setup a speed match. Thanks for this... Are you still model railroading? Do not see many recent videos.

Any ideas on speed matching with the throttler going to 126 for 128 speed table?
@DBRXCustomRailroadModels5 жыл бұрын
As in 126 scale mph? Most HO scale models are not capable of going that fast. You can speed match each step for half a mile for a top speed of 63.
@ryry173545 жыл бұрын
@@DBRXCustomRailroadModelsSorry. Talking about the throttle % going up to 126% instead of 100%. On your chart. You have it going from 100,90,80 and so on. Any idea how to convert your chart for an 126% throttle?
@DBRXCustomRailroadModels5 жыл бұрын
Because my throttle is set to display percentage. If you want it to display speed steps then change it in the settings.
@ryry173545 жыл бұрын
@@DBRXCustomRailroadModels ah ok, well I have an Iphone and it looks like I can't change the throttle from speed step to percentage. Using WiThrottle. But thank you.
