Signing Eranio was a coup for us at the time. He could’ve gone to another club like Chelsea for example who had his Italian counterparts Zola, Vialli and Di Matteo playing for them at the time. But Derby County made him feel at home especially with Baiano joining at the same time too and boy he was a beast of player as well too. Ever since Jim Smith signed him, he’s placed his heart with our football club as he will continue to do so for the rest of his life.

My favourite Derby player and I've been supporting for coming up 50 years.. his first touch was excellent and he was comfortable in possession with several opposition players around him, you can't say that about any of the current squad. If he wanted it, I'd have him coaching at the club in a heartbeat.

Agreed only snag is you have got to have some quality at the right standard to start with. Fitness levels are one thing but skill at this level not so sure. Perhaps coaching the youth a better idea?

Cannot forget Igor,Asanovic or Wanchope but Eranio right up there no question. Wenger rated Asa as one of the top three midfielders in Europe back in 1998, you cannot fault his opinion.

Doubt you can include Solis, Con Blatsis, Albentosa or Borbokis in that selection. Then again we hardly ever saw any of them on the pitch long enough to give an opinion.

Great memories. Jim put a great side together for peanuts compared to today's crazy spending in the Prem. Wanchope running rings around Adams and Bould back in 1997 and beating Chelsea in the last minute in 1999 two stand out moments for me. One day we will be back where we belong.

In those seasons we had a few players that I thought were probably too good for us. I enjoyed every minute. Great player, great guy.

The good old days I really miss those exciting times. Eranio bianio stomach wanchope etc my heart drops thinking back. Also pride park is awesome but can't hold a candle to the Baseball ground.
