This album heals like no other. Love how it’s called “Plans”, but constantly sings about events that no one can control, and how to use those events to make yourself stronger. Thanks Death Cab, for me top 5 in the last 25 years. ❤️

Burn it down, till the embers smoke on the ground And start new when your heart is an empty room With walls of the deepest blue Home's face: how it ages when you're away Spring blooms and you find the love that's true But you don't know what now to do Cause the chase is all you know And she stopped running months ago And all you see is where else you could be When you're at home Out on the street are so many possibilities To not be alone The flames and smoke climbed out of every window And disappeared with everything that you held dear And you shed not a single tear for the things that you didn't need Cause you knew you were finally free Cause all you see is where else you could be When you're at home out on the street Are so many possibilities to not be alone And all you see is where else you could be When you're at home there on the street Are so many possibilities to not be alone

The message I get is we need to be satisfied and content with who and what's around us. It's important to strive for more as well, but also do not let your heart be an empty room that can never be filled. Also, it's a brilliant and beautiful song in and of itself as well!

Love it. Been trying to find meaning to this since high school. Used to think it was about person A chasing after person B who's already for person A and its just person A not knowing where to go next so they stop chasing after person B for other people repeating the same crap.

Couldn’t agree more. The fact that the album is called “plans” just shows that you can’t control anything. Better to lean into adversity, embrace it, and learn from it.

As someone who suffers from borderline the lyrics hit hard. It describes how I feel when it comes to relationships. Burn everything down, knowing only the chase, not being happy when you have your loved one on the couch, only knowing the chase. It's sad but hard to overcome.

When I first listened to this song, I was 10 and it was my favorite, I would sit on the floor and stare at the album cover while I listened, I’m 17 now and I forgot about this band entirely, when my dad played death cab in the car, I felt a pit in my stomach, I had almost completely forgotten, but I remember that album cover, and I managed to find my way back.

I think i posted this yeaes ago when i was sad but I'm sad again. The thing about this video that people need to see is that sometimes you have a relationship with someone based on cdrtain things but if you dont grow together you lose what you originally had in common. And as a relationship grows the original stuff isnt enough to keep things going. Take an interest in your partners interests and do things to enhance eachother or you will be old and alone . Cause no one has the same interests as you.

I'm gonna tell you now. Is that time flies by when you get to like 21. Take advantage of all opportunities you feel you should. Your body is telling you things. You see a girl you likeĺ say something. Wanna do something? Do it. You don't want to look back wondering what could've happened. I was watching this video when I was 25 and yet here I am at 41 thinking of past regrets. Take advantage of all opportunities.

it's a very beautiful but somewhat baroque video it seems to be about the process of having someone in your life who gives you peace and purpose, and not having them near you or part of your life any more. it's all very subjective seeming, more so than most straightforward art that says "this is subjective" so what you think can probably be correctly interpreted. what do you think?
@fictionalparasite42493 жыл бұрын
So… at the begging before she gets mad at him he was drawing frames, wich is like all that’s established such as relationships and it’s rules or what’s expected of it, also when he’s playing videogames he seems happy with the original purpose wich is fighting, although that confrontation don’t seem to make him happy when it happens in reality, even when he tried to play with the same figures the original purpose didn’t seem to happen since there where not supposed to fight or find happiness in it, so it doesn’t fit with what he was expecting, and as the song says, So many possibilities to not be alone, in the rest of the scenes even when he has a sad looking face, at the end, when hes alone with it’s toy he looks happy with his part of the game, wich is just him finding out that some thing will only fit when you’re by yourself, since they will only belong to you And I think that was the message, but as the other fella up here says, you make your own story, the point is making it yours.

@Fictional Parasite oh yeh I never really noticed how she gets mad at him. The just time they were on the couch together they were playing with the puppets. He was wearing pyjamas. I guess he found them at a yard sale or something. I always like going to yard sales on my own. Or thrift shopping. I just drank my fourth can for the morning. I need to go find some weed. I don't want to be alone anymore. Everyone I ever loved is gone. U never get it again. Youth is fleeting.
