The book literally sounds like a mix of 2017 and 2018 With the fivelets, low triplets, and then the flam accents into those partials Like they even have the beginning sections of the shout from 2017 with open triplets down the drums but only on bass
@raymondgarcia29275 жыл бұрын
Michael Doudan exactly. In my opinion their content isn’t up to par with Crown or Boston.
@DisDatK95 жыл бұрын
Plus the snare feature. It really seems like a mix of 2017 and 2018, like to a worrying degree. Especially the tag on the end, it's like as if they took the ending of 2018's feature and added on 2017's last measure.

If they can clean the snares and tenors this line would win Perc. Those basses are playing some of the best stuff I ever heard. The bass line is what gives them trophies. look at 2015

But remember pit is half the battle
@commenttroll30005 жыл бұрын
Even if their pit and drumline is best it can be, SCV’s writing is harder and so much more musical
So glad the tenors aren't tuned disgustingly low this season

Y'all can complain about them reusing licks all you want, but you can't act like just about every other corps doesn't reuse licks as well. Listen to cadets 2013/2015 or scv 2014/2015/2016. These shows all have a lot of recycled material but they're praised as great percussion books. They are great books and so is this one, so don't hate because its recycled. Hate it cuz its dirty.

Don’t understand how THIS writing keeps beating other groups. No shade on the performers.
@JohnJohn-ir5hw5 жыл бұрын
Might you be specific? As with what I've seen/heard from last year, THIS writing is completely unique. The bass line is deceptively complex, and there is layering of sounds and phrases occurring within itself. The snare line's sticking approach combined with WHAT it is playing are what result in the desired "swing" of many of the phrases - it's STILL rare to find a DCI drumline that SWINGS or grooves. BD have been doing it since long before Scott Johnson took over (and hail to Scott Johnson for continuing and further developing that swing). Long ago, in "my day", SCV had the BEST bass lines (the players were taught how to shape WAY above any others), Crossmen had the most "groovin" drumlines (the writing and high-velocity arm motions made this happen), and BD - even when they teetered on playing it straight (see 1995) - could swing, always focused on making music. Presently, Blue Devil's drumline is the composite representative of those 3 difficult-to-achieve merits. SCV's drumline is GREAT. SCV's pit is GREAT. SCV is great. It doesn't take away from SCV's present day greatness to acknowledge (to even DISCOVER) what I've typed about Blue Devil's. Heck, Blue Devils aren't even my favorite corps. Moreover, I can accept that SCV tends to be "cleaner" in a more easily understandable manner. But, "clean" is thankfully a bit more subjective these days than it was in a simpler system of ticks (if it wasnt, then there would be not any MUSICAL progress). I've a DCI championship ring, been in around or observing DCI for decades. I'm here to help you come to understand that which you state that you do not understand. Keep paying attention. Keep listening. Turn of the sound and watch - gain a new perspective. (btw, I appreciate that your comment isn't disrespectful.)

@@sycomantz Hehe... I just had time to view the some full shows. ROFL... now, I know that I'm correct without question. Boring? Sure, I've always thought that roughly 90% of any drum corps show is boring. But, make not any error in judgement about it, Blue Devils are the BEST. Heck, once they're on the move, SCV's line isn't HALF as clean as they are standing still. It's not only BD's line, it's the entire package/concept (still...after so many years): it's so far ahead of what anyone is is willing to bother attempting, that it's like watching a more advanced league.
