You know, I'm really sorry this video has ticks, but I'm a lot more sorry yall feel that this one video defines all the work we did this season. For whatever reason--the drums, the mics, etc--the dirt really cuts through on this one! Sorry!! There are multiple videos from the same day that sound nothing like this! Watch them! Watch the run! Consult a friend who was in attendance! I promise if you guys do you can rest easy and know this is not representative of what we did

Why are you apologizing? Regardless of their many accomplishments, the Concord Blue Devils aren't a professional performing organization. It's an educational music ensemble. The members pay several thousand dollars for the privilege of touring and working with elite educators and designers. You have an obligation to perform well for the people who purchase tickets to DCI shows. However, you don't owe the assholes talking shit about free youtube videos anything. You're an indisputable musical prodigy and maybe the youngest DCI individual snare drum champion ever. I realize that reading the criticism must suck,,, but you obviously don't need validation from these morons to be a great drummer. And you definitely don't owe them an apology.

Brandon Olander, Brother, don’t feel the need to apologize. You don’t owe anyone an apology. You guys played your butts off this season. Yes, there was a little fuzz here and there in this particular video, but only very little. Honestly, I think it’s the drums; they just sound strange to me. It’s almost like while the batter heads were cranked to high heavens, the guts were loose as heck. It gave even the clearest roll an interesting rattling quality, and I don’t think the mics liked it. Either way, don’t worry about “KZbin scholars.” You guys played the crap out of this book, and it is one of the hardest books I’ve seen in a while. Don’t ever apologize for what you guys accomplished this season. Taylor Madison Scouts, ‘09-10

Dude no reason to apologize. The judge on the field was 5ft away the entire night - if he heard dirt it would be reflected in the score. So yeah, the mics, the drums, how about nerves!! For whatever reason this video didn’t translate. No big deal.

Brandon, please don't apologize. Y'all were AMAZING this year. That snare break was borderline impossible. Besides, this video isn't even that dirty; several Crown 2013 videos are WAY dirtier than this, with a much easier book to boot. Be glad you're part of one of the elite percussion programs in DCI (ScoJo, Rennick, McNutt, Rarick/Carter, Aungst, Shriver/Mapes, Jackson, etc.)

It’s insane how many rhythms were utilized from last year. Not saying it’s a bad thing, but truly astounding the similarities.

Ya.. they like to do that, little things in the quad and snare have been reused from 17-19 :/ it always gives me a bit of a lazy vibe

Scojo is getting old, I don’t blame him for reusing things it must be boring at this point for him

From an audio engineering perspective it is interesting that the dirt cuts though on this video compared to others - could be really useful to help find trouble spots

Anyone know what happened to the 9th snare? There’s only 8 in this video and during finals.

Excellent snare solo, how can you play that stuff while moonwalking?? There are some dramatic differences in audio quality between recording devices. Some of us have seen enough drumlines to know that the real deal is in person, and way harder to criticize when the difficulty is blowing up our eardrums. I dislike the snare tuning in this video, but I could probably love it in person. Ymmv

Wait. Did they bring those bleachers or were they already there? I didn't see anyone else with bleachers behind them.
@DrumlineArchives5 жыл бұрын
It was part of the Pro-Mark/D'addario lot experience from the day before. They had a small exhibition area set up where people could watch Pro-Mark and Evans-sponsored groups warm up. They left the bleachers set up but took down the tents and kiosks that were set up earlier.

Best arranging in DCI this year. Unique interplay between snare, tenor and bass lines - most demanding book: it is in the overall sound canvas that the intricacies are to found/heard. SCVs arranging is great, it's also comp;etely different. This drumline (BD) is to be commended for its progressive approach and for staying the course. Super, Blue Devils. Superb innovation.

Another, lame, miltary-esque, typical DCI sort of reply to a comment that hints at questioning the politics involved in DCI scoring. You probably think that 95-96 Madison had some of the best drumlines in history.

Oh damn it........the tall guy with facial hair that was centre snare defintely in clips in 2017 has clearly aged out. I love watching Drumlines and Marching bands, but he was a very fine specimen that made for really good watching!. Anyone know what his name was?

If aliens ever come to Earth and we’re trying to show them who we are and what we’re all about, I definitely think we need to have them watch some really tight drum and bugle corps stuff like this. It will probably take a while for us to figure out how to talk to each other, but in the meantime they’ll be able to tell that we’re pretty intelligent and pretty cool after seeing this.

This feels kinda bland I know I’m not a tech or a judge but the intensity is there but they make the same cold stone face looking mean the whole time and it gets boring to look at. I’m basically saying performance quality or lack there of is making me want to go watch some other group
