Checkered Past Is Amazing But Needs To Be Expanded Upon | Adult Swim

Checkered Past is amazing! Ever since Checkered Past aired 2 weeks ago on August 28th I’ve been watching it every day from 5-7pm. The Checkered Past bumps are amazing they make me feel like a kid again and they take me back to the CN City Era! I would expand the Checkered Past Block from 5-10pm and also expand Checkered Past to Saturday’s and Sundays. I would also like to see bumps of characters of different shows interacting with each other. The shows that I would like to see added to the Checkered Past block are Codename Kids Next Door, Teen Titans 2003 series, Samurai Jack, Grim & Evil, Evil Con Carne, The Powerpuff Girls, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Megas XLR, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYami, The Life and Times of Juniper Lee, Johnny Bravo, Camp Lazlo, My Gym Partner’s A Monkey, Ben 10 original series, Ben 10 Alien Force, Ben 10 Ultimate Ailen, Generator Rex, Sym-Bionic Titan, Secret Saturdays, Total Drama Island and 6Teen.

But what’s going to ever happened to Toonami on Saturdays, if Checkered Past airs during the weekends and ends at 10pm while KOTH and American Dad will air repeatedly for 2 hours????

Well at the moment it seems like they're only airing shows that were produced in house, meaning nothing that was picked up from other studios. They're definitely sticking with a 90s to early 2000s theme, so anything after that is out. Also Megas XLR was a tax write off, so that's definitely out of the question.

I want Checkered Past to expand but I think they can keep the two-hour format but rotate what they show Mon-Fri , Mondays can be what shows are currently airing then you switch it up Tues-Fri with other Cartoon Network classics like for instance the shows you mentioned.

What needs to be fixed on Checkered Past is that the shows they have on are originally aired on a 4;3 display, but unfortunately they're badly displayed in Wide-screen ratio aspect. I thought Cartoon Network Stopped doing that.

When I use Roku 3910X switching 4:3 to 16:9 display on my CRT TV, it stretches and it shows 4:3 shows but stretched adult swim logo screen bug, except for TV rating bug, on live tvs like KZbin TV. Good thing I still have my CRT TV and looks retro.

In my opinion if Checkered Past needs to be on Adult Swim they should start it later before Adult Swim becomes a channel. Maybe start Checkered Past at the normal time in the Winter and start Checkered Past at 7pm Eastern 6pm Central and give those two hours back to Cartoon Network in the summer. The block is not completely bad as there are older shows on and the bumpers are good.

I was thinking 6 or 7 PM too, but have another hour. From 5 to 6 or 7 PM, they could show Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Chowder, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Camp Lazlo, and any other shows not old enough for Checkered Past. I am so glad Cartoon Network is not showing anywhere as much of Teen Titans Go as they use to.

Checkered Past is great. After they cycle each show every Friday, they should either extend the block or introduce other shows. Ex: They can air Evil con Carne on Tuesdays and Thursdays while Billy and Mandy have Mondays and Wednesdays) They said that Saturdays will air Unicorn and Superman and so far it was neither. For the meantime they can air action shows on Saturdays like Samurai Jack, Sym Bionic Titan, etc. since they used to air on Adult Swim before.

I like this block so far, I'm not really use to seeing these shows on the air because ofc cn never aired them. But now I actually get to experience these shows from the late 90's-early 2000's. I love it. I could name a whole list of shows that could be on this block powerpuff girls, foster's home, Johnny bravo, Cow and Chicken, I am Weasel, Time Squad, Samurai Jack, Evil Con Carne, Mike Lu and Og, Robot Jones, Codename Kids Next Door, Ben 10, Chowder, Flapjack, Squirrel Boy, My Gym Partner's A Monkey, Juniper Lee, Camp Lazlo, Puffy AmiYumi and maybe some acquired shows like Teen Titans, Duck Dodgers, Star Wars The Clone Wars (2003), Justice League, Hamtaro, Zoids, He-Man, The classic Pokemon series, Naruto, other toonami shows from the late 90's and early 2000's. I have so many ideas in mind for this block.

I believe it can be expanded. Cartoon Network and Adult Swim are becoming into one in a good way but still the same without sign on/sign offs. Cartoon Network is becoming an animation network.

I don’t watch KOTH but I agree and same thing with American Dad which is also have 2 hours, [Adult Swim] has a problem going on with their schedule, there weren’t any of other [AS] shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Squidbillies to be air on TV and not even Toonami airs on Sundays and on the weekdays but it only airs on Saturdays but it didn’t air the rest of the anime shows like One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, The Boondocks and Bleach. [AS] needed to fix their programming on the schedule along with CN and Toonami.

I think rather than replacing shows whenever they add more, is just add them to the lineup but play them on different days. So on Monday we have the current lineup of Dexter, Ed, Grim, and Courage. Then on Tuesday we'd have the 4 new shows. Then on Wednesday mix it up, have Dexter, Ed, 2 of the newly added shows, and then so on and so fourth. This way we get new content but don't lose anything in the process.

Before you start listing shows they need to add, keep in mind Checkered Past is aimed towards *late 90's* kids who are now adults. So airing anything from 2005-present day is unlikely. As for shows I'd really like to see, Cow and Chicken would be cool to watch again.

They should reconsider and launch an independent channel that broadcasts 24/7 like Cartoonito and Adult Swim completely with a revival of tickle-u & miugzi as a good alternative to them, but on the condition that it separates from WBD and stays with Turner temporarily until a new animation and general children's content company is formed A huge world that may come to light in the future is just a matter of time and it will inevitably happen. Nothing is impossible in this life, everything is possible and what is happening in the world of games is better for that.

Checkered Past is really amazing I remember saying this before that this is what I most certainly love to see watching old hit classics that helped carried cartoon network’s renaissance and I’m ok with having it airing on a weekly basis at 5pm, if they keep this up maybe we’ll also see other shows added like samurai Jack, KND, OG fosters home, Johnny bravo even the PPG. Maybe they’ll expand newer shows like Flapjack and Chowder in the lineup as well. This is something I wished CN would have done YEARS ago while the mid 2010 shows could gain the spotlight in the daytime and not having to end until 5pm but in 7pm.

[Adult Swim] has a problem with its schedule not just Cartoon Network & Boomerang. It keeps repeating airing KOTH and American Dad for 2 hours after Checkered Past, especially during the weekend and then it did it again later in the early morning before CN there are at least 3 [AS] shows airing while the rest are not and Toonami only airs 1 or 2 anime shows on Saturdays but it airs the same thing instead of airing differently. So what they needed is to cut 2 hours of KOTH and American Dad, so they can make more room for Bob’s Burgers and Futurama at 9 & 10pm during the weekdays and on Sundays while on Saturdays, they will be on at 7 & 8pm for 1 hour. [AS] should bring back its very own shows to air like ATHF and Squidbillies while Toonami should be airing from 1am-3am for Attack on Titan and FLCL: Alternate and bringing back One Piece or Cowboy Bebop and Dragon Ball Z or Bleach as well instead of repeating the same thing.

On Saturday, because Checkered Past doesn't air on weekends, they just straight up went to Adult Swim at 5 pm. Checkered Past does need to be extended to 9 pm. But it also needs to air on weekends too. Edit: Also how come Flapjack wasn't on your list? That fits the block the most.

Checkered Past is not even that bad but I really don’t want Cartoon Network to lose more airtime again before it will disappear from airing on the channel while [Adult Swim] will become a full channel (which is going to be true, if is happening) without CN and getting its very own 24/7 channel like in other countries although CN owns [AS] since back in 2001 when it launches. Checkered Past may not going to end by in the Winter or the following year but in my opinion, it should expanded from 5-9pm to add more classic CN shows like PPG, Johnny Bravo, KND and Fosters instead of airing too much of KOTH and American Dad for 2 hours of each which is a waste of time just like when CN airs too much of TTG and Gumball during the day but both of them needed to fix their schedule as well as Toonami, Cartoonito and Boomerang.
