It looks like you have a good head on your shoulder for scratch building I would have never figured that out 👍👍

Looks like the little 2-6-0 project is coming together nicely. Can't wait to see the next video on the tender build. Also looking forward to additional work on the Siren Creek layout itself. It's been a while since i've seen any work on it. Last I saw you'd finished up laying the track. Can't wait for more!

The Siren Creek has been on hold until I can make some kind of cover to keep the cats off of it. I think I finally figured out what I want to do, but I still have to build it. Once I get that done I'll get back to the 2-6-0 and the layout itself. Thanks for watching!

@@DanielCortopassi Need an easily deployable and retractable cover for the layout? Or.... sentry turrets.

Whatever happened to the completed model overview? Part 6? Come on, man!!
@DanielCortopassi2 ай бұрын
Well, the model hasn't been completed yet, so Part 6 will be in the future. Life and cats kind of forced the N scale layout (and also the engine) onto the back burner for a while, but I'm looking to get back to it soon. Thanks for watching!

nice work dan. when are we going to see a part 6?
@DanielCortopassi6 ай бұрын
I'm hoping to get back to this soon. No firm date, but I do want to finish it. I am working on a cover for the Siren Creek layout where this engine will run, and I want to get that done before I start making stuff that our cats can destroy. Thanks for watching!

You could drop the keep alive unit by using a 1215 gearhead Faulhaber coreless motor for app $45. My Nn3 engines run superb with those
@DanielCortopassi2 жыл бұрын
I have a Rivarossi N 0-4-0 (same type of model I used to kitbash the boiler on this one) that I fitted with a coreless motor. It runs really well and is super quiet, though it still stalls sometimes. Is there a good source for these motors? There used to be a seller on eBay but they seem to have gone away. Thanks for watching!

Hi Dan! So question again. So I have Union Pacific style number boards I want to install on my n scale mikado. How should I drill the holes in all die cast metal smoke box. Do I use a normal pin vice? And what tips and tricks can you pass on! Fan from Ohio!
@DanielCortopassi2 жыл бұрын
You could use a pin vise for die cast metal. It may be slow going, depending on how hard the metal is. Make sure the drill bits are sharp. I've found that some die-cast is tougher than others. I would suggest maybe putting together some kind of drilling template that will hold the bit in place. I'm thinking that trying to drill a hole straight down on the side of a round boiler would be difficult because the drill bit will tend to want to go down the side of the boiler. Maybe you could make a kind of saddle from some scrap plastic that would fit over the boiler with holes in it to guide the drill bit. Thanks for watching!
