This was a very useful piece of information. I am in N scale and I have been putting doing the head lights for my C415 switcher that needs LEDs for lights. Thanks for sharing.

As a fellow n scaler, I use 603 for headlights. 402s for everything else.I get them with 36/38 wire presoldered.

@@attackeagle You do. I have 603s I could use them then. Where do you get yours from?

Nicely done and important step for anyone wanting to improve their models and electronics skills. I use a caboose as a shoving platform and use LEDs inside along with sound decoder for special whistle. Your adherence to DCC wire color coding is laudable and a great practice to follow. Thanks for another excellent video! Kennedy

I have no experience with LED's, so this was very informative. Very nice Dan and I like the fact that you mentioned what you would use for N Scale as well. Looking forward to part 2. Thanks again for a great video. Cheers!!

Very useful video Dan. Especially for people who have tons of Athearn locomotives with those horrible little bulbs that need to go and they intend to replace them....eventually...someday. Thanks for this.

Nice refresher Dan!! Here lately I have been getting my resistors and LEDS from All Electronics, they sent me a catalog that is chock full of anything electronics!! In case some of your fellow viewers didn't know look up Dan's 25 you tube video's on detailing a SD 40-2 and he has a lot of great footage installing LEDS in an Athearn Locomotive!! See you in the next episode Dan!!

Thanks for sharing. I’m looking at LED installs into some older locos I have but my plan is to use a Decoder Buddy to make wiring and taking the shell off a breeze. It comes with built in resistors

Great video! Would you use a different resistor value for DC?
@DanielCortopassi4 жыл бұрын
If you're using a 12 volt DC power supply then the same values should work. If you have one of the large scale throttles those can sometimes go higher, like 18-20 volts, so I'd probably use a bigger resistor. Thanks for watching!

I was wondering about those interior lighting kits for coaches. Will that be covered in another episode?

I could maybe talk about that in another program sometime. I'll add it to the list. Thanks for the suggestion!
