Thank you so much! I was starting to worry that I wasted money on an ebay purchase of a cartridge. There were no instructions with the cartridge. The instructions for the button reset didn't work but I followed your easy instructions for a manual reset and it worked! I'm going to offer a Holy Mass for you, sir.

Thank you! The button reset would not work, so I had to use the manual method. I am using a OEM Brother cartridge I purchased from BestBuy. I used it sparingly over the past 4 months and it was saying I was out of toner and eventually got to the point where it would not print anymore copies. Print quality was still perfect, so I knew it was a counter my printer was using to force me to purchase more ink. I took my toner cartridge apart following the steps in your video and reseting the spring. It was easy and took less than 5 minutes. After putting it all back together and placing the cartridge back inside of my printer, I was printing again. The yellow icon next to the printer icon on my computer was gone after I printed a page. I hope this allows me to print for quite a while. Thanks again.

Thanks for easy video. As previous poster said, I had to press the clear and stop button together many times, maybe 25 time to get the reset and then I had to press OK to get the reset to come up, pressed plus key and it reset. Great job Robie

I google and found a few videos, tried several and it does not work so I found your video. I tried the 1st method on your video and it work. My original toner was low so obviously, I bought a compatible toner which is way much cheaper, Original toner = US$85 vs Compatible toner =US$19 and the quality is 99% almost original. This works, it takes some time to put the sides back on as you have to Aline the gears before the side panels can fit back into place. When pressing the two buttons, Clear and Stop, you have to press and release several times before the printer accepts this command it’s a bit tricky but if you keep pressing and release while watching the small display screen it will after several press and releases go onto the reset mode (K. TNR) Make sure you disable the firmware that will automatically download unless you disable it on your printer settings. You do not want the updated firmware as it will stop you from hacking the printer. Make sure you do not receive the firmware updates. As the update is only useful to brother stoping you from reusing you toner cartridges.😭😭😭

I've tried both of these methods, and neither seems to work. I think that the newer models of the 2550DW are set up to disallow any reset once a toner has been used. And I honestly have no idea how, given that the second method is mechanical rather than electronic.

Mine is the newer model and it still works on the 1st method. You must press 2 or more times on the clear and stop button till you get the reset message, scroll to HC as in the video shown and it's done.

@@zepp3lin Okay, I just tried it, and got it to work! It's very finicky though. First, you have to press the Clear just slightly before the Stop, and you have to do it like that twice or more before it will work.
