I finished MGS1 like 5 times but recently finished Twin Snakes which is MGS1 true remaster and totally recommend it. It actually still holds up today pretty good emulated and runs nicely. I played upscaled to 8K easily on my RX6700XT and the GPU was basically sleeping. Also used the 4 upscale texture pack and it really brings the game to a much better modern state.

I’d really want to see Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake be remade due to its importance to MGSV to know what happens after ending. It’s also important to MGS1 to understand Solid Snakes backstory a little bit more.

@@chewy99. also they could put the whole david hayter/keifer sutherland debate to bed by having both of them play their respective snakes simultaneously. solid snake being voiced by hayter as he goes against venom snake who could still be voiced by kiefer sutherland. heck, they could even go a step further for metal gear 2 and have the voice actor for big boss from mgs4 (richard doyle) voice the real big boss in that game, so all three actors together for these two games.

Which is cool, but some things will lose weight, like learning Ocelot is The Boss’ son right out of the gate. Those kinda things lose their weight in chronological order. It’s like watching Anakin transform into Darth Vader in the first movie instead of much later… wouldn’t be as cool to see!

Totally agree with this. I watched my dad play MGS1&2 when I was young, he never bought 3, and I had an Xbox 360 when MGS4 came out. I replayed MGS1 and 2 myself later on in life before MGSV came out, played and beat MGSV, but still never played MGS3 so I'm particularly excited for this one. Still also never played 4 but I don't feel like I'm missing out on that one as much. Lol

MGS3 was the first Metal Gear game I've played on my 3DS after seeing my dad playing MGS4 and I have so much fun playing it. I didn't know so much about the game's lore because I was still a ignorant child that time and I thought we play as the same Snake

I had it quite differently. I was playing MGS1 on mom's PC on an emulator and my dad just took out his Xbox 360 and said something like: "Son when you finish that, We will play these straight after." Meaning the MGS HD Collection with MGS2, MGS3, MG1, MG2 and Peace Walker. I remember him playing MGS3 twice while I played MGS1. Fun memories.

I agree with nearly everything you said in this video- it's all so true. Gameplay-wise, MGS3 has been remade before with Peace Walker Aiming and Crouching on the 3DS and it didn't break the game- so logically its going to be Konami's first choice. MGS1 on the other hand gets really cheesy and strange with First Person Aiming as seen in Twin Snakes, i.e. the Revolver Ocelot fight. If Konami were going to grant all of the modern mechanics that gamers expect from MGSV, they'd have to tweak the gameplay of MGS1 exponentially in order to make it not ridiculously broken in the player's favor- this drastic change would affect the sight of guards, possibly the number of guards, how the boss battles are fought, stealth in general, etc. which may upset veteran fans even if it is for the better. Overall, there are just way too many variables to consider- so restarting a franchise would need a much safer pick than MGS1 as the first in a line of remakes- even though according to some leakers an MGS1 remake is also on the way soon. Remaking MGS2 first obviously made no sense at all as well, so there's really only one answer. My prediction is we'll see a very different MGS1 after MGS3, MGS2 will come later and be relatively the same with modern aiming, then maybe if everything goes well (big IF), we'll see MGS6 aka the long-awaited MG1and2 Remakes. Sorry Peace Walkers, I doubt it's high on the Konami priority list.

@@KahosSaint I disagree, everything after MGS1 has just been about lining up a Tranq Shot. Crouch-walking is just a slightly (not game breaking) more mobile way of getting that Tranq Shot. The "stealthy" effect of crouch-walking in MGS3DS was kinda negligible if you aren't 60% or higher in Camo (most of the time you're at 35% while crouch-walking in the open), so it just made the game move a little faster for paranoid noobs and people who were sick of the 20 FPS. I'm guessing you perceive MGS3ds as being way too easy due to being conditioned to play with the stiff OG MGS3 camera, or perhaps the somewhat-less stiff Substance camera.

At that point does difficulty even matter? Also the 3ds camera has a smaller resolution than subsistence making camera movement faster. Plus there's peace walker third person aiming which makes the camera feel much different. It's true.

It's not nearly as drastic as adding first person aiming in Twin Snakes. Look at fan reception. There are plenty of devout MGS fans, including myself, who would love to play as Big Boss in the PO chapter of his life, plus with Kojima gone, I don't think Konami is in any position to be writing their own new stories for MGS. A much safer option would be to continue remaking the games for now, which they have already started doing. I agree with you that there are parts of the PO story that don't align with the rest of the lore, but if they were to make a full fledge remake like MGS DELTA, then they could easily consult someone who knows their MGS, and revise any inconsistencies. Plus there are some references to PO in other MGS games already, which proves that Kojima considered it cannon at one point. He said it himself before changing his statement on it. At the end of the day, I'm just as passionate about MGS as you and I want to see the series treated with respect. With that said, as MGS fans, of course we want to play more games as Snake, but within the right context.@@KahosSaint

I did get into the series through MGSV. And I FREAKING LOVED IT! The characters, Boss, Quiet, Ocelot, and Miller. I was really bummed hearing Kojima left after I played it for the first time on Steam. But with the Delta remake, as long as the Lord permits it, I plan on buying it on Steam too, as well as future MG games if they make more of them.

I would like to see a remake of MGSV. People might say it's unnecessary and I can agree to a certain extent. But just imagine having real guns (and vehicles/mounted weapons etc) and more extensive weapon, emblem and character customization! Sure mods can do that to a limited extent, but only on PC. Same for the engine. An upgrade could see the environments be better. Perhaps more animals and foliage as well as longer draw/render distances (for everything, including shadows) and more enemies on screen at one time (Fox Engine can only handle like a dozen before enemies start to despawn/turn into green smoke).

My biggest thing is the controls need to be updated. Just beat mgs1 for the first time since it’s now on Xbox and the controls hold it back so much and we’re the source of much of my frustration. Mgs2 and 3 were archaic when I first played them 7 years ago and were really hindered by bad controls It’s sucks that not only such a great series but such an important piece of video game history is locked behind a lack of accessibility due to their age. Remaking and updating them, at least the controls would help keep metal gear relevant in the current space of video games and in culture. I would hate to see them fade into obscurity. Right now they really resemble a pillar of a bygone era. Most younger players know who snake is and about the cardboard box, maybe raiden and that’s it

I would like to point out that the delta symbol, in math, literally means change. The delta of X means the change of X. So it stands to reason they might change aspects of the story rather than simply controls. A lot like FF7 remake did.

I want to like The Twin Snakes, but it wasn't good enough. I like The Twin Snakes, I like the Remake having MGS2 Gameplay, but I have personal issues with the game: My BIGGEST GRIPE is that the visual looks dark compared to the Original and MGS2 that I can barely see, it doesn't look good. 😩 Some of the glitches kill the game: The camera near the stairs in the tank hangar always spot you no matter what you do, except if you use Chaff and if you get spotted even once you always get Alert 3 times, even if you Reset the game or die and exit. And some of the cutscenes are ruined: the Original cutscene with the tower bridge was dramatic. After the bridge gets destroyed the Hind appears and Snake runs toward the handrail where you're supposed to use the Rope, but in Twin Snakes after the bridged is destroyed a metal debris flies towards Snake, Snake chucks a Grenade at it, WALK TOWARDS the handrail where you're supposed to use the Rope, the Hind appears and there's NO MORE DRAMATIC RUNNING! And in the cutscene where Gray Fox dies, why does Snake scream his name before he gets crush? Apparently the reason for the rerecording was not only for better recording quality because when the original MGS1 voice recording was imported to Gamecube, cars passing by could be heard in the background, but Kojima demanded that the dialogue be redone to be more close to his original work due to Jeremy Blaustein's fault for changing it. Especially Psycho Mantis's last words during his death. He intended to be "This is the first time I've ever used my power to help someone... It's strange... Such a nostalgic feeling..." due to the nostalgia of his mother giving birth to him. I remember that previous Video, I just haven't watched it yet.

I am sort of cautiously optimistic for a remake but at the same time I can picture it being pointless. The fact the original voice recordings are being used doesn't inspire much hope. But the the thing is, despite my many issues with MGS3's story, there could be some gameplay improvements from this and no, adding a dedicated crouch button and third person aiming won't simpily be enough. You need to add detection arrows from MGS5, overhaul the stamina, damage and health systems, make CQC especially the slam less OP, make guards less stupid, fix the camo system where you don't need to go into menus every few meters, make the continue system less of a way to cheese the game and so on. There's just too many issues with MGS3's gameplay a remake could fix, MGS1 was a less ambitious game but it had more design consistency by comparison to 3. People can bash modern 1st party Sony games all they want but MGS2, 3 and 4 are more brainless from a gameplay standpoint than they are.

Mgs3 cut senes were remade for the pachinko game Konami made. Now they are remaking the game play

For me if they do MSG1 in the same format as MSG5 would be amazing. If you look at the timeline to MSG3 makes sense to start there.

I'm perfectly fine with Delta even being pushed to next year because all I want for this year is for Master Collection Vol.2 to be announced so we can finally get MGS4 off the PS3

Mgs 1 and 2 aren’t backstories to 3, 3 is literally the backstory to every other game…

Respect for MGS from Metal Gear died with Survive for me. With Delta I’m thorn apart I am intrigued but cautious

As if i ever get Delta even when it comes for purchase I never gotten the original ones I got only MGSurvive, MGSV TPP and GZ, and Rising

What Metal Gear needs is the master collection to be fixed. Delta isn't the answer.

I love the remaster train that companies are on, but I hate some of the people around them, when a game gets remastered it should only be graphically enhanced with improvements to controls and maybe some cut content that was out because of hardware limitations, a good example of this and the negative people around it is the MediEvil remaster it was done perfectly in my opinion but other gamers were saying not enough was done and they could have added stuff to it that wasn’t originally in it. Then an example of a remaster being ruined by unnecessary content is Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, it was perfectly remastered in graphics and had extra campaign content that was cut on 360 due to limitations but the online was ruined by having Gears 3 type lobbies instead of true host, 25 minute match limits and Gears 3 characters and weapon skins.

Games are a visual medium. I wouldn’t mind if every 20 years they remake popular titles or any series or games. I loved the original RE4 still d but the remake is easily better and a welcome upgrade.

3:49 gotta say, I disagree here. The reach of stuff like Fortnite and Smash Bros have really made Solid the most popular Snake to general audiences. Not to mention, Metal Gear Solid 1 has this huge legacy of being such an important game in video game history for its cinematics, and Solid Snake is at the front and center. Hell, gaming news outlets mistake Big Boss for Solid Snake so much, that the "No, that is NOT Solid Snake!" thing became a huge meme.

As long as its better than RE 3 remake. Generally their remakes have been very good, and 3 is okay, just very short in length

i think it's cool that konami is making a remake of mgs3 and hope they'll make more remakes for mgs games but a whole new mgs game? no. kojima is what made mgs good in the way that it was. a whole new game made without him couldn't be like that, just look at mgr, while good in it's gameplay, it's not like it has any of the good story themes like games written by kojima. it's just "what if politician wanted to kill guys a bunch and start a bunch of wars. wouldn't that be fucked up?".

Honestly they need to pay more attention to MG and MG2SS. They are the gap between MGSV and MGS1, why not remake those games which are well over 30 years old compared to a game made in the mid 2000's?

I still don't trust Konami because they remade mgs3 cutscenes for pachinko machines. Hell, they spent more time on pachinko machines than games I don't trust them.
