It will remain on PS3 and emulation. Many of you seem to forget it was so different that it came as a package with MGS online. They ain't doing that all over again..

@12:25 i know konami probably only wanted to make the games for PlayStation consoles because making them for one console brand is so much easier than trying to make the games for all consoles & pc which is extremely difficult. this is proof why hundreds of Japanese games want to skip xbox not just because xbox is not popular for Japanese/asian games but also because developing for that american console is difficult such as Wonderful 101 for an example

Why do younger gamers settle for updated versions of old games? You don't want new experiences in video games? I was in my 20's when MGS4 was released. I'm now 45. It was a great experience, but Metal Gear isn't a lifepath...let alone what would be the goal if you already played it? Most of the joy of a Kojima game is the unpredictability of the story. So what? Do you guys want the story remade too? I don't get it.

I’m optimistic. In the Master Collection, the timeline goes to 2014 and it’s grayed out iirc. So I think we’ll get 4, we just need to be a bit more patient

I'm a long time fan of the series but due to various reasons I never owned a PS3 and was unable to play MGS 4. Playing the Master Collection Vol.1 on PC was a blessing and playing MGS4 the same way would be a like a dream coming true. I hope that one day it can happen.

They could be releasing the remakes in order of lore starting with mgs 3. Unlikely but a nice idea, it could be a new remake every couple of years like resident evil. Who knows.

I've been playing the Metal Gear series since 1998 and only just decided to go for top ranks this summer to platinum the games in the Master Collection. This guide and the one for Snake Eater have both been enormously helpful in getting me past some trouble areas, and I just got Big Boss rank in SoL today. Thanks for the help, brother.

Did Konami ever address/maybe 'prove' why they shifted back to actual video games? Why are the people who made the pachinko-decision in different positions now? Like, did they lose out on money from pachinko machines due to the pandemic, and were like, "well, even though the upfront investment is higher, the longer term would be better" or something? I'm just surprised they didn't shift to like, online gambling or something instead (especially when they didn't upscale the MGS Master Collection to HD Collection levels in the first place, etc)

One thing you forgot to mention is that Metal Gear Solid 4's engine and assets have already been ported to PC once before in the form of Metal Gear Arcade, which I think is pretty important in dispelling the "MGS4 cannot be ported to modern platforms" conjecture.

While you’re spot on with all of this, there is one thing I disagree with. I don’t think Konami as a company can fulfill developing a Port of MGS4. I think they need to give the job to a different company that knows how to port games (like a Bluepoint). With how Vol 1 released and how there are still some issues that need to be addressed, I can’t imagine MGS4 getting re-released and there not being problems because of how complicated development for that game was on the Cell Processor. Also, look back in between 2006-2008, what games that were exclusive on PS3 have been re-released on modern hardware? I could be wrong and I hope I am, but there’s no indication that I’m not. If you’re asking me, I think it would be easier to remake the game at this point.

Actually despite being developed with the cell processor in mind as marketed by sony and kojima, the game doesn't really utilize it to its full potential, the actual problem with the game is optimization, those huge chunks of data occupying disk space have a lot to do with compression, games like rage could be 1TB if id never optimized its megatextures and mgs 4 faces a similar problem, aswell as having some spaghetti code and old rendering techniques.

In my opinion this is how they should redo games no complete remakes just redo the games we already love with better graphics on newer consoles so we don't have to play on Old consoles

When MGS4 launched I hated it, nothing clicked with me, I played it one time and did not touch it for minimum 6 years, despite being a gigantic MGS fanboi. Then for no particular reason I played it again for the second time and got completely hooked in it. Maybe I wasnt ready for it.

i'm currently trying to convince my friends to borrow me their ps3, i'm new to the series and i can't wait to experience this game. let's hope the master collection volume 2 comes out with this and peace walker.
