Open Office 4 Writer Tutorial

Pretty good tutorial, fairly easy to follow step-by-step. He goes pretty fast but you can pause, and/or go back as needed. What I really liked is that he didn't take too much for granted--explained every step (mostly) clearly. It helps if you have at least some basic knowledge of how to use a word processing program. I had to make a letterhead template for a friend and this tutorial got me through it. Once you have the template made up, making similar additional letterhead templates from this is easy--plus, going through the tutorial helps you to learn how to navigate around Open Office. Also, I like that he helps you to establish good organizational skills so you can be organized in how you file and retrieve items, and how to label your files efficiently and succinctly.

@@dcpwebdesigners Well you did a great job and it's obvious you really know your way around the program. I do have a question--if you go into Styles and Formatting>>Character Styles and scroll down and click "default," will that set to the default page, any attribute you then want to set up to the default pages? Like for example, if I click on the default setting in Character Styles, and then change the font, will that change it on all subsequent default pages?

Very good tutorial indeed, I picked up loads of tips and I thought I was clever, 🙂 and a Mr Knowitall. Nice to hear a London accent I'm stuck in Thailand, 35C every day - cooked my brain cell. Thanks and kop kun kup as they say over here! (I never knew about Gimp so goodbye p'shop)

My "BOLD" is stuck on ! I want the first line BOLD but it wants to do the entire page. Help ?

Press Ctrl+A to select all, press Ctrl+B to unbold, try to select only text you want bolded. Or install libre office it's way better and also free!

I didn't save my last corrected version of my manuscript and the undo and restore is locked. I found some of the pages but it's mixed up. How do I recover? Is there a recovery setup so that this will never happen again.
