I am not a dancer. I am not a lover of classical music. I can't sing. I can't draw. I am probably one of the least artistic people in the world. I only saw this because my wife asked me to watch it one night. What I am though is a person who appreciates beauty. Who appreciates excellence. Who appreciates perfection. I remember being overwhelmed with emotion when I saw this the first time even though I had never lost anyone close to me because of cancer. I realized that the emotion I felt wasn't from sharing a familiar experience, but from the combination of the choreography and the dancers' performance being able to project those emotions onto me.I still come here to watch this video from time to time, and it always affects me the same way. I'm not ashamed to say that I cry like a baby, especially when seeing the face of the choreographer when Mia is talking. Seeing her struggle to get through her critique because of how close to home this subject was, and to see Tyce Diorio struggle to keep it together while watching her is so heart-wrenching.This will always be something that I'm drawn to, because of how beautiful it is on so many levels.

So my name is Nichole and Rocco is my husband, that was me using his KZbin account because I don't have one if my own. But your words were perfectly stated, and beautiful. I loved this show and like you said you know beauty when you see it. I'm not a dancer/singer/poet either... But this show gave me such an appreciate for not only how music can touch us, but paired with the chorography and how hard these dancers work to look so effortless is amazing. I'm not sure if you've seen it.. but check out "Gravity" it's another powerful piece. ❤😊

I remember watching this moment with my mom (who’s mom died of breast cancer when my mom was 13) when it aired. My mom and dad died suddenly in 2021, when this pops up my soul leaves my body because while it’s absolutely beautiful to watch, beautifully choreographed and the genuinely emotional reactions of the judges, but it’s painful to feel the pain of loss and grief and trying to save someone you care for but ultimately, lose them.

This routine will be forever my favorite. I used to watch this tv show with my mom, and I remember the first time we've seen this together. Both of us were in tears. Years later a cancer took her ill, and unfortunately she passed away. Seeing this piece of art reminds me how close we were, and even through a dark and tough time, she always cared for her children. I only wished to be able to say to her that I am fine, that my brother are fine. I hope everyone who is struggling with this disease (and their closed ones) can overcome this huge challenge.

Sh*t - all these years later and I STILL fall apart watching this. I think couples like Melissa and Ade (maybe slightly more Ade than the two of them) make a good argument that it's as much the artists dancing the piece as the piece itself that makes choreography so powerful. Could another couple (on any season) have made this as heart-wrenching as these two did? Theoretically, you should be able to say yes. Practically? 'Nother story.

I always record sytycd. After I watched this I had my Mom come over and watch it. My Mom beat pancreatic cancer for 12yrs because of things like this. When we lost her one of the things my family and friends that are dancers put together a piece for her. The first time we performed it was at her house after the funeral. It was Beautiful!! Since then we perform it every year on International Pancreatic Cancer Day! #wagehope 💜💜💜

Jennifer, I think costuming means a lot in dance. The scarf did narrow the problem to cancer, for me. However, I could tell from the opening that something was wrong. Ade's helpless angst moves, Melissa looking to the Heaven's and about to give up, then Ade turning around, forgetting his own feelings to help her up and encourage her. Just a brilliant portrayal of one partner hurting and the other being their to support. It really doesn't matter if you see cancer or not but you should see the pain and love.
@markbib2810 жыл бұрын
There's something about the angel of death archetype that is always has a kind of haunting beauty, a harrowing path to relief. With subjects such as terminal cancer, I think everybody can understand what it means to want to know that everything is going to be okay on the other side. In this piece, Ade pulled it off perfectly. Its impossible to not have confidence in his movement, in his general soft hearted nature. Great work.

It's June 26, 2022 now. THIS is what the 'So You Think You Can Dance' show, that I began watching years ago, was like. There were judges that were educated about dance, were also dancers, & they knew what they were talking about. The dancers put their heart & soul into every piece, & the judges did not sit there screaming, or blabbing throughout the performances. Mia Michaels was my favourite choreographer as well. What I am watching today, does NOT meet the standards of yesterdays brilliant show.

I remember this episode. These two were partners for the first the live performances until they decided to randomize everyone's partner by having them pick out of a hat. Ade just so happened to pick Melissa. Because Melissa was comfortable with Ade(since they were dance partners), it was easy for her to be confident in and comfortable with Ade, enough so that she can throw herself and do the stunts with him and not fearing being dropped.
