Are there any disadvantages to carrying 105s over 97s ? I.e. Weight, drag, etc.
@MrTurbine7776 жыл бұрын
There shouldn't be any in the sim. In real life it would be the higher cost and unlikely an A-10 squadron would have them in time of war since they'd most likely be spread thin amongst high altitude bomber groups.
@redtailpilot6 жыл бұрын
Makes sense. I'm going to play with 105s next time and see if I have a greater kill rate. Thanks

Bit sad that you didn't continue these types of videos, but, I can understand with time and 'internet gratitude', sometimes it is simply not worth it. This one will forever be a gem.
@MrTurbine7776 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the understanding. It's hard for me, but I'm sure just like you we share several interests. Now I'm working far too much and although I still do put out videos that take me 200 hours for a single minute of video, it's for my piano music and laughs of that nature. I think of these videos though often and am always instantly blasted in the face with what I had. I actually had a few hundred hours of video editing done to do a couple of other videos just like this. One that was much more detailed in using the various systems and spotlighting the mavericks. I lost the footage. Not only the millions of minutes that I gave to the edits, but even the raw footage. That was a tough hurdle to get over, especially from someone that always has backup. My backup had a completely different ending, which I did have - yet all was lost. Sort of made it like if one was to go on a diet and go to the gym for a couple of years and then eat a couple of weeks of pizza and not have the uhg to get back into it, haha. Ok, not really like that, but in losing what I did and having to take the time off that I did, I just never was able to recover. Luckily, I'm getting older every day and eventually I will be able to retire and will most likely do these sort of things to keep myself from hanging myself in boredom! :)

I've watched a boatload of DCS A-10 videos over the last few weeks, and this is without question the best one I've seen. Your embedding the weapons details video in the left MFD is brilliant. Very well done sir! I had *no idea* the simulation fidelity of the GBUs was at this level, and I shall have to drop a few in anger this weekend.

Cant wait to watch more of your videos now! Thanks for your service also. I can't imagine what kind of impression the hog gave you after receiving CAS not to mention from your distance, i bet it's quite a story. Keep up the videos and i will keep watching even if i already understand the subject. THAT GOOD

Thank you very much, Connor! Really appreciate the kind words. I've been out of the DCS loop for years now but have just got back into MSFS 2020. I had hundreds of hour of footage for several other DCS videos go down in flames and coupled with the incredible amount of time that got wasted I simply got "burnt" out. A few months ago I bought several DCS addons and preordered the carrier and still haven't launched it to check it out, haha. So little time these days but do hope to get back to it soon. Thanks again, and yes, it was something watching the ground literally shake and ripple like little waves as the hum-gun strafed the area. Makes me do the Tim Allen grunt just thinking about it, haha. :)

This was the best DCS video I've ever seen! You deserve way more subs!
@MrTurbine7777 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud, I'm glad people like you enjoy it. I actually do my best to block youtube from tossing its ads up and don't do anything at all that one must to earn money on videos (mostly allow ads). My piano channels constantly get forced ads because even though I'm doing the playing it says it violates copyright. Funny that instead of removing the video in that case they simply add their ads and that somehow makes it ok, haha. In any case, I rarely use youtube anymore, only for sim stuff. I pay $200 a year for Vimeo for my piano stuff just to make sure no one is forcing ads on my videos. Subs, likes, etc, don't matter to me. Genuinely nice comments like yours is what makes my day. Thanks again!

Dude, your presentation is by far the best I've seen. I was kind of mesmerized by your spacey robot voice while watching your put together video inside the MFCD bezel. Thanks Fish, glad you liked it. I think humor is essential here and there in tutorials and love to ham it up whenever possible. I like to make each of my tuts a learning experience also, so try to learn new techniques as I go. This one there were many challenges that took days. Like the reflections on the sides of the MFCDs during the video, but more in the canopy closing in flight. That was all frame by frame masks but probably not noticed (12:51) Looking forward to checking out your many tuts!

Man, that must have given you a ton of work to do. It is nicely edited, shows really "in-depth" explanation and actual visualization of the weapon in action, how it works - and oh my goodness, the warheads showing off from their case (that alone made me give Eagle Dynamics a 10/10 for the perfectionism in details) - and demonstrating it deploying in various situations. And also: Ejecting, flying away on the seat, farting, and flying back to the cockpit! Hahahahahha o/ I gotta do it myself anytime! =D

It's really tough to grasp the idea that it's not the explosive potential of the skeet....... but the kinetic energy of the warhead, which is molten copper at impact. KInd of like mini-RPG with extremely fast brains, and 16 henchmen it deploys for dealing with spectators. If you're above ground, inside armor, you may as well be roaming around the grounds around the tanks...... how the copper becomes molten is the mystery. Excellent production, sir.

Wow that visual explanation is just what I needed!!! also, whats the difference between the PROFILE and INV page ? In the tutorial about guided munitions, the instructor shows how to change settings in the PROF page of the weapon selected and there you have all those "min alt" for release and etc. settings, but for the CBU 97 on the 104th today I didn't see settings there and just released it over a checkpoint with a T72 and some personnel, but none was hurt, in fact, nothing happened (chutes, explosions)

Thank you, Rus. Glad you liked it and yes the date is correct ;) Sadly I had made an all comedy A10 video shortly after this. It wasn't 100% finished but at least 80% complete. It was very complex and took months. Around the time I "unplugged", I backed it all up only to later see all my video footage got corrupt. The raw footage was nearly 300gb and I was truly heart broken. Killed my interest and still stings, haha.

Thank you :) I really wish I had the time. A few months ago, haven't touched DCS in years (since around 2013), I bought hundreds of dollars in DCS products. Pre-ordered the aircraft carrier even and now it's released and still haven't touched a single thing that I bought. Just no time and the little free time I have had has been to another passion of mine which is making piano videos. I'd at least like to find backups of a project that I invested hundreds of hours into after making this video but lost all my main efforts due to disaster. I'm glad people are still enjoying this and still do hope to get back into it as well as put out more videos. I even pre-ordered the soon to be released Microsoft Flight Sim 2020. Looks incredible!

Nice vid, is there a rule of thumb for the release altitude of CBU-97s? I noticed you released them at 9000 and 6000 ft near the end of the video, which to me seems pretty high for unguided ammunition in CCRP mode (i.e. for mk82's this would reduce accuracy greatly). Although this issue is probably less prominent for cluster bombs? Also, as the CM-97s are unguided, might high release altitudes during strong winds cause the CM-97 to miss the intended "deployment area"? Thx for vid again!

Regarding hitting destroyed targets, The way I understand the bomblets to work is that they scan for a recognised IR signature, so I wouldn't have thought they would recognise a previously destroyed target and re-attack it as the IR signature would be different/wrong, i.e. massive and spread out!

Can't watch the whole vid at the moment. I am a novice with the A-10. In the missions that my group puts up, there are always AAA defenses with the tanks and convoys. Usually ZSU-xxx. How high can these CBU-97's be dropped from? I would like to fly above the range of dem pesky guns. Too often a couple of taps from them and you're out an engine or the targeting pod. Thx
@MrTurbine7777 жыл бұрын
Look around 11:35 where I show the 105 & 97. The 97 with the tail kit equals the 105. It helps accuracy and they can be better dropped from 40,000 feet but chances are your squadron will have completed the mission and be returning to base by the time you can get the tank up that high ;)
