Loving the multi threading update so far. It doesn’t solve all my performance issues but that’s just my own system limitations I think. I’ll be happy to take what I can get from further fixes and updates for MT though! It’s crazy to me that I’ve been playing this sim for almost 20 years now. I was there in 2004 for LOMAC, then Flaming Cliffs and the transition to DCS World. I remember when the Ka-50 and A-10 were their own individual .exe’s! Through the good and the bad this game has been a part of my life for a long time! The fact the game is still getting updates and reworks is impressive in a time where publishers are quick to drop titles for their latest scam, aka loot boxes or NFT’s. Take a bow ED!🎉

oooh, adjustable cockpit mirrors? That's one i was bitching about on the forums a few weeks ago. Nice to see that make it in. It's a pain in VR not being able to set the mirrors to aim correctly for where my head ends up when i have my position adjusted here i like it.

ED is a hell of a company. I've been gaming for a long, LONG time........and this is the first time I've EVER seen a company go so far to LOWER system requirements for their customers. Astute business, and damned good of them too. Usually game companies pile patch upon patch, notching up system requirements, until somebody who was an original customer has to spend thousands to upgrade their system to keep playing a game they paid for months, or years ago. No so ED. KUDOS AND WELL DONE!

I'm not in the same hype train as you. I think they are trash developer who forgot to think about optimization for 20 years. A good developer thinks of the optimization and easy modular updates from the get go.

@@simtaylor61 wrong, we spent thousands on unfinished modules, yet pre order the game which technology is at least a decade behind. The testing procedure is horrible, every single update just introduce new bugs and break existing codes, and WE, THE customer, are the testers. No cloud technology involved, the MP is running by the players, not a single update for some modules and terrain. Sorry, what did you call them? Hell of a company! Yeah, sure People call ED as Excessive Delay !

Your 12600k does not have more than 32 threads so this particular bug doesn't apply to you. In theory it should work with that cpu

Disabling the E-cores in the BIOS causes DCS to instantly crash, regardless of how many P-Cores you have or if you have SMT enabled/disabled. Maybe this is what's causing your problem as well? (tested on a newly formatted and debloated Win10 system, installed onto an Intel Optane P5800X with a direct-die watercooled 13900KS @ 6.3GHz, having only 8 P-Cores and 8 Threads enabled and with all power saving, virtualization and most 'security' features disabled; including TPM, Secure Boot, Fast Boot and all faster memory training tweaks.) Unfortunately, this same behaviour apparently also occurs on all of the 2 CCD Ryzen CPUs, but I've only tested it with a 7950x3D, so I don't know about the rest for sure.

Thanks for the updates Andrei, while I was excited for the MT update, I don't know yet, if it is really helping me. However, I am operating around 60 FPS, but I can't tell if when I flip to MT, it changes much. I was happy to see some more Skins for the JF-17 and I did get in the A-10 to see the radio, all very nice. I have yet to give Petrovich a try with his new voices, but I'm sure they will be great as we search for targets.

Basically, only the 2 'heaviest' threads (excluding the already seperate 'audio' thread) are run on the "Preferred" CCD, while most of the CPU work gets done on the other, slow CCD, the results of which then has to be sent back over the slow infinity fabric, through the IOD, back to the main game thread. If you try to force it onto the P-Cores in software using core parking, thread affinity masks, or even Process Lasso, it does work (kind of) but doesn't give any performance benefit, especially in the most stuttery and unoptimized areas. Disabling CCD1 in the BIOS (thus only leaving the 8 cores with V-Cache) also causes DCS to instantly crash, just like what happens on the Intel setup. This end result of this is basically no improvement in gameplay smoothness, even when using a 4090, over the standard 7950x (according to the 7950x + 4090 frametime graphs on the DCS forums, where people benchmarked the same replay track on different systems and post their results). Regarding my personal 24/7 OC settings, the 13900 @6.3GHz unfortunately still provides a noticeably better experience in DCS than the 7950x3D @5.25GHz (both CPUs are direct-die watercooled, but AMD's clock speed limit of 5.25GHz on CCD0 has severely limited the possible performance improvemant one can get over a good 13900k(f/s)) Especially concerning is the significant decrease in frametime consistency in both the new MT *and* *non-MT* OB builds of the game; both 1% and 0.1% lows have degraded by 0.5~1ms and 2-3ms respectively, but the total number of frames with frametimes > 20ms have increased multiple times over. Although the worst of these stutters can be allieved by disabling mirrors and TacView, the game still 'feels' similar or slightly more stuttery even when comparing the new non--MT build with the previous OB version. It's definitely a big uplift for low-midrange PCs, while apparently also providing more resolution and quality headroom for those VR players that have been able to 'train' themselves to get used to 72Hz (some can apparently even handle 30 fps reprojected to 60Hz!). As for those (like me) who struggle with motion sickness and are sensitive to frametime variance; well, I tried VR again on an Index at 144Hz refresh, but even with the resolution scale down at 50% and all of DCS' ingame quality settings turned down to the lowest options, I still get horribly sick within half an hour. While I am able to last a bit longer in 2D with trackIR, I do still have to tap out within 60-100 minutes because of the same pre-migraine foggy headache and 'tired' eyes, even while achieving an in-game reported average around 120~140fps. The constant jittering between fast and slow frames, together with the less frequent 50-100ms 'hitches', still makes it very difficult for my eyes to smoothly follow anything moving with significant relative motion. Hopefully the frame pacing improves in the future, but we probably have to accept that some extra delay or frametime variance is likely to always remain with multi-threading, similar to how AFR ended up dominating multi-GPU rendering.

MT is amazing in 2D. Maybe if ED would open all the P Cores for VR it will be amazing also. Right now VR is only using one P Core and the rest E Cores. So everything will load faster, but the FPS will be the same as one core.
