I thought standby for ECM was a warm up mode, RCV is the jam when tracked mode, and RPT is continuous jamming All only work with the external ECM pod
@RedKiteRender7 жыл бұрын
Yes, that would be correct, got myself mixed up with the 'Smart standby' as it's called in the manual. Not actually used the ecm yet.

Have you any more tutorials on the harrier for us noobs? Starting up, taking off, manoeuvring, altitude, trimming and turning? Feel like I'm fighting the aircraft to fly straight, watch other videos of people flying really good and turning sharply
@GrahamMilkdrop10 ай бұрын
You missed out the Engine RPM switch which is one that I can't seem to find any information on other than seeing it listed in manual checks set to Lo after entering the aircraft. While it seems to be either unimportant or not modelled it is really bugging me that I can't find out what it does! Any idea?

Very precise and thorough . I was surprised at the way you pronounced 'annunciator panel' - as if you'd swapped the 'i' and 'c' . I'm not a simmer or pilot so forgive me if I'm being thick.

Probably does, but it's heavier than air, so it will fall eventually, just over a wide area.

Hi, wanted to say thank you for teaching me the harrier. Your videos have been greatly appreciated. I wonder if you could let me know the file location for your kneeboard for 2.5? I've tried installing it in the stated user save location, but it's just showing the generic kneeboard. Thanks again.

That's a shame, re-check you put them in the correct location, you don't need to delete the original kneepads, i can't test it myself at the moment sadly, my pc has died.

Any info what Q-Feel & RPS/YAW is? Great video :)
@RedKiteRender7 жыл бұрын
Q-feel effects how the joystick 'feels' it's basically a form of force feedback. RPS/yaw is the Rudder pedal shaker, which is a warning system to tell the pilot when the aircraft has too much lateral movement when in vtol i believe, neither are practical to model in the simulation given the wide range of controls we have.

I'm new to the game and I can't figure out how to look around the cockpit using the mouse. I can look around with the default plane but not with this harrier I just bought. I see a yellow cross hair to use to select some buttons but not all are accessible this way
@RedKiteRender6 жыл бұрын
All clickable cockpits use the yellow pointer to select switches. To move the camera, toggle mouse look with left alt C. You can also use the pov hat or numpad to control the view.
@glockman40536 жыл бұрын
Thanks man it worked. I'm waiting for the rift. Hopefully by that time I can assign keys to my Saitek x52. That seems challenging already.
@exnihilodub6 жыл бұрын
left alt+C or doubleclick the mouse middle button (might require one additional click because sometimes the mouse gets stuck in lateral axis mode). Though I don't reccomend you use mouse for looking around. An update eons ago made the mouselook jittery. Either use pov hat controls or the numpad.

it's probably a very stiff button in reality, im impressed you're managing to press it by mistake on the a-10c given how far away from everything else it is.

Is this tutorial series outdated for someone who wants to learn the Harrier in 2022 or not?
@RedKiteRender2 жыл бұрын
Largely it should still be valid, with the exception of the ILS and targeting pod which has changed a lot since the module released, some things will be different like the NAVFLIR rendering in green, rather than greyscale in video, and some new features won't be covered (like VREST), but should hold true otherwise. Unfortunately I've not had the time to revisit the harrier and the quality of my videos has also greatly improved since these, being my very first series. I don't have any recommendations other than Chuck's guide off the top of my head, but take a look at smaller channels rather than large ones for quality more recent tutorials.
@HAL-mg4wy2 жыл бұрын
@@RedKiteRender I see, thanks! Also your F1 tutorial helped me immensely to learn the module very efficiently and in a relatively short time. Keep up the good work.

I want to get into this game, I have just downloaded it, do I need to buy a flightsim joystick and throttle for this ? I guess then the mouse is used to press buttons in the cockpit?
@RedKiteRender7 жыл бұрын
Yes, You can technically play with a keyboard, but honestly it's not worth it. Precision flying is very difficult that way. Buy yourself a joystick, i recommend starting with a thrustmaster t1600m hotas, or a thrustmaster t-flight hotas if you're on a tight budget.
@hevermiranda98717 жыл бұрын
I have a 12 button joystick, but no TrackIR. Do you think it's still worth trying the Harrier? I've been flying the SU-25T that's included in the base game and I haven't had trouble, but I don't know if a clickable cockpit would be too much to manage without TrackIR.
@RedKiteRender7 жыл бұрын
The Harrier does use more buttons, ideally you'l want to use modifiers to double up the use of what im assuming is your single hat switch. i think you'l be able to get by, if not it's a great excuse to save up for something like the T1600m :) Once in the air the cockpit clicking generally isn't needed in a hurry, you can toggle between mouse look and click modes with Lalt-C. The TF-51 is available for free in dcsw (trainer version of the ww2 p-51) if you want to see how a clickable cockpit feels.
@hevermiranda98717 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice, I think I'll try out the TF-51 a bit and see how I like it.

what does the H20 on hte plane do. cool the engine?
@exnihilodub6 жыл бұрын
yes. that's H2O and it's used to bring the JPT (jet pipe temperature) down. when the aircraft systems detect the water is being injected, it will allow you more headroom for more thrust.
