Cool new way to increase the range of your IRMAV's and increase your survivability in non-permissive airspace!

Spudknocker I know it’s a little off topic but I would love for them to implement the Raytheon Aim-120 AMRAAM to the Harrier give it a BVR capability
@Spudknocker5 жыл бұрын
Lucas Woods for sure me too! But that would require that RAZBAM add the AV-8B+ as that is the jet with the APG-65 radar in it. There is no radar in the NA variant we have here

The best feature of the TPOD is how it saves your lock even while flying away from the target. Saves a lot of time not having to area designate again.
@alphalobster80215 жыл бұрын
I believe it is the DMT saving the lock not the TPOD. Even without a TPOD, the DMT will guide you back to the target with the HUD arrow.
@RelaxSimmer5 жыл бұрын
I watched the full video and honestly I'm confused ... Did you make a 22 minute video just to say that Maverick screen follows the TGP screen as it should? I thought you meant something like Force correlate or something
@hizokuto5 жыл бұрын
Yea, I usually do this with the DMT, so I thought I was about to see some special ability with the TGP, but its just the same thing. We're just slaving the Maverick's sensor to the DMT or TGP to take advantage of their superior camera and stabilization until the very moment the IR sensor can track the target on its own. What's a little funny is that we're actually slaving the maverick to the DMT to the TGP. On the HUD its visible that the DMT diamond and IRMV screen only updates its position to the TGP circle when it stops moving. This is also why the DMT doesn't follow the moving TGP tracking a moving target - there's never a chance to update. That just goes to show how the TGP was slapped on to squeeze more use out of the Harrier and its good enough. There's no point refining something that might get retired soon....ish?

I found that you can use IR Mavericks using a JTAC Lazer to designate the target. Then just fire off the IR Mavrick and let it's seeker do its thing. You can just use the on board optics for that, don't even need the Tpod. I made a mission that has a Tor waking up after the first pass so needed a stand off weapon to kill the Tor. Cheers

Try this with tanks in forest or city environment, where MAV locking every pole or tree but not the actual tank :D Laser for the win... Frankly I never used mavericks without TPOD since it was implemented. I wonder where did you find info about TPOD not being fully integrated by USMC? I would read that. Since you are trying to insert some IRL info, as far as I know 47 Litening II pods were obtained for these Harriers, so imagine that not each bird was flying with TPOD on it. It depends on deployment task. In Bagram in 2002 6 AV-8B NAs were allocated with 6 TPODs on them primarily for Night missions. There are a lot more aircraft than actual amount of TPODs available, but in DCS this is not a factor, unless players want it to be. I think an actual flight plan and SA regarding AO can pretty much almost negate additional factors from TPOD. Its just people got used to fly aimlessly on DCS MP servers, but in past two years this situation slowly improving.

I saw a changelog to the Harrier on Dec 20th 2018 that fixes some stuff on the plane, but theses changes are not in my game. Am I missing something? I have tried other areas to figure this out and could find nothing, since I'm sub'd and you post very recent videos I figured I would hit you up, I have tried unistalling and installing, manual deleting>install, nothing works. Was wondering if you could help.

Dear DCS please fix the bugs with the replay tracks.... I just finished a sussessful AA refueling attempt with the AV-8B (no easy task even w/ VR headset) and all I wanted to do was watch my skills from the chase camera view in replay. All I got was me half a mile away from the tanker trying to refuel from thin air.... What a bummer.....

when you say TDC depress, do you mean the down position of the sensor select switch, or the TDC action button?
@bellc095 жыл бұрын
Good video, I'm surprised more people didn't know you could do this. Hope it helps. On another note, I noticed you're not using HTS mode on the TPOD, personal preference there? Doing so will allow you to change the TPOD FOV which helps you zoom a little faster. Only downside is needing to SSS depress to leave the mode before going into IRMAV mode. Small potatoes though in the long run, you get more out of the TPOD with HTS mode.
@thespartanmk15 жыл бұрын
If you have a T-POD, why not just use a laser maverick? Standoff should, in theory, be even farther with the T-PODs sensor doing all the work. It should also only take slight adjustments to the TDC of the T-POD if there are any ajustments needed at all. I've grown to really like using Laser Mavs instead of the IR mavs. Once you have your target area, they just seem quicker to employ. Only advantage of the IR mav I can see is rippling off on more than one target.
@Spudknocker5 жыл бұрын
Kernel_Kraut true but IRMAV’s are fire and forget allowing you to avoid threats without worrying about masking the laser

@@Spudknocker As long as you know where the ball is in relation to the plane, you should be able to break off and keep it painted during the break. I know it isn't perfect, but it seems to work for me.

SD sc0rch one is an AGM-122 Sidearm the other is an AIM-9M. The AGM-122 looks like an old ‘winder because they are rebuilt AIM-9C’s from from mid 60’s. The AIM-9C is actually a SARH version of the sidewinder that was purpose built for the F-8 Crusader, to give the jet an all weather missile capability. The AIM-9C was an abysmal failure and with the retirement of the Crusader, the guys at China Lake figured out a way to repurpose these stocks as Anti-Radiation missiles
