Since filming this I've discovered that you can maddog the sidearm without tone and it can obtain a lock after launch. Just thought I'd note that here. Results of course may vary.

Yep that works, fire towards previous radar lock gone silent and it will lock if it goes active,4 out of 4 so far

Hey mate, very nice and informative video. I would like to give a little tip in regards to the side arm. If you press the "gun" button on the RWR mfd twice it will select the sidearm :) Hunting Sams is really a lot of fun, wel the whole plane is a lot of fun :P

Very good tutorial series! One hint: if you select AIM-9M for AA task, put the DMT on one of your HDD. When you get the lock, the DMT will be slaved to the Sidewinder, so you will able to see the target on the screen. You have no radar and active IFF option in this bird, so you better to identify visually as far as possible. DMT is huge help in this.

excellent video on the AV8B understood everything clearly as the systems were described very well in a well spoken calm way.. well up until the the SA8 locks up lol... but entering the danger zone does that to all of us.
