As someone who flies a lot in DCS and MSFS it will be nice to have a plane which kind of blends the two together in a weird sort of way

It'd be quite neat to see this and the chinook be capable of working in conjunction to create farps and the likes. Have the chinook act as the farp itself and the c-130 drop extra supplies for it, or even vehicles onto the battlefield. Imagine dropping some sort of SPAA wherever you like in a MP server.

C-130 module is going to be a milestone for DCS. It has so many potential. Tanker, EW (in fact I think/hope one day we will finally able to use EW aircrafts), Transport, Troop Transport and even bombing. It is definitely in my "to buy list"

I can 100% see why ED is working on the Chinook right now. With all of the co-development they’re said to be doing with APC on getting DCS’s engine to work with this module’s capabilities, it’s a golden opportunity to make an aircraft that can utilize it themselves. Looking forward to both.

@@mustang8258 for strat air- it can’t compete with the C5. For tac air- it can’t compete with a herc. It’s a great Jack of all trades/hybrid airlifter. But it’s not the best.

Trust me. The C-130J and a world map is going to be a game changer. As of the Navigraph 2022 survey in December there are currently 10 million MSFS players. While DCS has less than a million. If we could even capture 5-10% of that player group (myself included) imagine the potential for growth in our community. 2023-2024 will see this growth and the planned core upgrades will certainly help. Very excited for the future. More players more resources, hopefully a better game.

I was kind of skeptical on the place of the C130J in dcs but with Ed campaign engine in oven cooking, yeah I can see myself taking a tasking order with escorts jets by my side to carry some needed ammo, military personal and equipment to a strategic location in a bid to advance the war on my side. This sandbox of military aviation aircraft is becoming robust with the C130J in the horizon. Looking forward to all these fantastic stuffs. Cheers Andrei.

I had the opportunity to ride in a C-130 (dunno if it was an H though) in the late 90s. I was unfortunate enough to be directly below the air conditioning vent, and it kept dripping condensation on me for the 2 hour flight duration. I cant move because the plane was full to the brim with soldiers being transported, and it being a cargo plane, some were sitting on the floor, and others standing up. It was my first time flying, so I never minded it. Glad to see the Herc in DCS, its a first time purchase for me definitely.

I have had many a flight in a C-130. The longest was from Anchorage, AK to Hong Kong. Man, that was a long day in a bird listening to them engines drone on and on. But very good times.

It will be incredibly hard for ACS, the AC-130 is a highly complex aircraft. I would say it’s highly unlikely. The harvest hawk has a better chance of being created.

Maybe, but the targeting would need to be special in some way. Instead of controlling individual weapons, maybe have a sight of a Weapon Commander that selects targets for the gunners to fire at? I don't know how it works in real life...

@@totalnerd5674 There are multi steps for firing. Most of the crew in the back are there to reload the guns are not otherwise involved in firing or target selection. Then there is a pair of sensor operators that train the targeting pods and guns onto the target. The pilot in command then has the final say so as to when to engage and presses and holds a button on the yoke that allows the sensor operators to fire the weapons, if he releases this button it stops the guns from firing in the need of maneuvering or evasive action. So the pilot always has the final authority for when to fire and when not to.

As for the C130, it's nothing I was waiting for, but depending on the price tag I might check it out. Nothing wrong with cargo/logistics in general. It's an important part of warfare. An MH-53 would be more interesting to me though. Maybe one day...
