DCS | F-16 gets even closer to space! Can you beat this?

Haven't flown in a while. Did some training and thought... why not? lets see if I can go any higher!

USAF F-16 Avionics specialist here. The amount to work that the maintenance guys would have to go through after a flight like this would probably have us trying to hogtie you once you got back down to earth! This aircraft would have to be immediately impounded due to "departure from controlled flight" and a ton of diagnostics and inspections would have to be conducted on the aircraft. Not to mention the possible over-G conditions it probably experienced during the stall recovery would be a completely different set of inspections. There would also be every kind of FLCS error the jet could produce which would mean that we'd probably have to review the HUD tapes and even download the "black box" flight data recorder. Also, maybe you know, but there's a "manual pitch override" switch that can help you recover from those stall conditions if needed. With that said, cool video!

Try a zoom climb: take some drop tanks, head up to whatever altitude at which the F-16 gets maximum speed, accelerate in full burner until the tanks are empty, drop the tanks, continue to accelerate until you hit bingo or Vmax then pull up in to a zoom climb. I've taken the DCS Su-27 to 128K with a similar method.

Why, thank you. First attempt I tried to gently climb my way up. This time I gradually brought the nose up to a much steeper climb. Never thought i would get that high!

I would think, if a country decided to fully sacrifice one of their F-16’s to set an altitude record, stripping it for weight, sacrificing it’s ability to serve in the future (kind of like the Soviets did with their Mig-25’s), you could probably get the F-16 above 100,000 ft. No? Say you could remotely pilot it, even. The Soviets sacrificed quite a few Mig-25’s to set records.

I've been able to reach 99800ft once, if I'm not mistaken, so hopefully you can get to 100k sometime!

@@cptmrcalm Hey, great news! Wasn't really able to check if I ever really got to that height or not, couldn't find any photos or track files where I did that. BUT! I tried it again and got to 98900ft! As you said I posted the video on my channel, hopefully it helps you or somebody else to go higher! Let's go to 100k ft!

The highest I ever got was 80k ft with the F16
