Just another video myself working with one of my patrons to get him better and better at BFM! This time my Patron wanted to work with the F/A-18C Hornet.
BFM in the Hornet feels easy, but it is deceptively hard, the FCS can cover many mistakes you make while flying BFM, but this simply brings you low and slow.
As in the F-14 Tomcat, and any other fighter, speed is life, and altitude is life insurance, and the Hornet's FCS can take both of these away from you very quickly so you MUST be on top of you game when flying the F/A-18C against a skilled opponent!

Crash and burn Spuds. You should make 10,000 ft the hard deck. Anything below 10,000 ft is knock it off time and fly again.

You can tell this guy comes from props, he doesn't really need any training, all he needs is the buildup of some muscle memory and he's good to go!
@Spudknocker

He is very good right out of the gate, just needed to get used to the jet and how it flies and it peculiarities as well as the tactics of how to fly in a faster, more powerful aircraft

Couldn't you simply use the SIM mode with Master Mode on safe? That way you could simulate actual gun dmg?

Can you do a video on how to transition from engaging BVR, to engaging within visual range?

Regarding the issue you brought up in regard to DCS pilots dogfighting against each other in the same type of plane and being able to pull an indefinite number of high G-s without getting tired and with no effect on the pilot’s reflexes and flying performance. What if DCS were to implement an optional new feature that could be turned on or off in the settings or in the mission editor that built in some type of degradation of the flying performance of the pilot based on the length of the flight and the cumulative effects of high G-s on the pilot. I’m not sure exactly how it would work because obviously the pilots are sitting in the comfort of their homes are not being impacted with fatigue and degradation of reflexes due long dogfights with G’s, but the simulator could have some type of factor that gets applied to the pilot’s flight control inputs that simulates fatigue and degradation of reflexes. So early in a dogfight when a pilot is refreshed, not fatigued, and not effected by lots of high G’s, the factor with be a 1.0 which has no impact the pilots performance. But the more high G’s maneuvers that a pilot pulls and the longer the dog fight goes on, the degradation factor would decline. So for example, a factor of 0.9 would degrade the responsiveness of the aircraft relative to the inputs of the pilot at home which in essence would simulate a pilot fatigue factor. In a dog fight, this would put a price on pulling lots of high G maneuvers early in a fight. Pilots would have to balance trying to win the dogfight vs. burning themselves out too early vs. pacing themselves and trying to let the other pilot burn himself out. I’m just brainstorming. Obviously this type of gesture would need to be tested extensively and it would require a lot of experimenting. I think it’s something that could be figured out by DCS and of course it should be an optional feature that single player and multiple player pilots could decide to turn on or off when flying in DCS. Similar to how we have a Game Flight Mode and a Sim Flight Mode, as well as other settings that simulate varying levels of realism. This new setting could be added that would simulate real-world pilot fatigue based on the number of high G maneuvers, the cumulative effects of high G’s, the overall length of the flight.

Hi there, I'm a new subscriber and also new to DCS. I notice every time I log in to DCS and I move my cursor over a selection, whether it be the menu on the right or the selections of planes/maps below, I can't select anything and nothing highlights. If I open and close task manager then go back to the DCS home screen everything now works fine. Any ideas on what could be happening?

I would take a look at and double check your resolution settings and make sure it matches your monitor, same for the aspect ratio. Also make sure that the game opens up to full screen rather than windowed as that can induce some menu type issues as well! Good Luck!

Someone needs to develop an inflatable neck donut that inflates more and more as you pull G's in DCS. If you keep on pulling you'll cut off the blood supply to your head and pass out like in real life 😂. You know some idiot is gonna try this too and end up accidently killing himself on a youtube steam of DCS

I found BFM with the center fuel tank attached quite hard... energy bleeds away much faster and it takes hours to get back on speed... so the first thing in 2.5.6 is dropping the fuel tank... is this just me or is this a 2.5.6-problem?

Invalid 1C Guns Kill 10:50. Invalid 2C Offensive Guns Kill 16:18. Modulating the throttle in the Hornet is necessary, especially 1C. Idle and high alpha is a must. What about closure? Down range travel? 25:19 why not continue NH... OCF on the deck when carrying 400 knots prior? There's no running away in dogfights, unless the adversary is Winchester. Hardly taught the guy nor do you understand yourself how to defend. 10/10 would revisit.

yes because I'm sure no american pilot ever used the word "gas" to refer to their fuel before irl either right? They never talk casually like normal humans at all at any point right? Grow the fuck up. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYeXmImDnLSspNk
