The video next week will be another episode from our Ace Files series where I invite three players to comment on a dogfight. It is set in the DCS Cold War and is a Mig-19 sortie. Will sprinkle in some IL-2 videos soon after. If you found this helpful or interesting please consider subscribing, thanks!

I respect that you saved your aircraft, which I constantly trying to do, and if your aircraft is lost it is unacceptable. And I also find it very weird when others don't follow that idea. .

A video that would be helpful is maybe just a video of "what you actually need to dogfight in dcs" ideally with the f18 =P. I see so many videos about all the bells and whistles of the plane and it seems overwhelming. I think we would just need to know - beginner loadout to bring - how to identify enemies/friendlies - how to lock on and fire. Just a thought, enjoying the content as always - see you on finnish!

You may find these two videos useful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHqmf6SOjNyGmM0 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHWbh5t9nKlriac I try not to retrace the steps from other content creators so some things are missing to satisfy your complete ask but most of it is there. I do not fly the F-18 as I do not enjoy flying the modern BLUFOR aircraft. Thx for commenting.

Nice sortie and interesting to listen to the communication and tactics between you two as well as the narration after. Well done! Friendly fire happens and it sucks but it's nice to have it in the sim.

Glad you like the format. I try to make sure the videos aren't all theory in a sterile environment and not just pure MP gameplay but to mix both. Please consider subscribing If you liked it.

Two questions from a relatively new DCS player. I previously played a lot of War Thunder but have started branching out due to the crappy economy changes they have been making to their sim mode. My first question maybe is maybe a question of mindset. In WT you play a 3 hour match (unless you can win sooner) but at the end you know if your team won and where you stood on the scoreboard and how you contributed. The GS server seems like one big never ending deathmatch and other more themed servers like Buddyspike and DDCS also seem to go on forever despite there being win conditions (they never seem to be met). So my question is what do you consider victory in this game, is it basically just meeting personal goals or am I missing something somewhere where I can actually point to a win? I ask this question because sometimes it is hard to see if I am having any impact on the battle. Second question and this is probably a dumb one: What is the hotkey to change the player you are spectating?

Each server has their own rules. Growling Sidewinder is a death match. It's nice that it's always populated but it's just the usual stuff going on and there is no overarching goal which sucks. Other servers have objectives and different win conditions. DDCS is a dynamic campaign. Cold War has scenario based objectives. Each server is their own. You may like the Cold War server if you came from War Thunder. It's F2 for external and then ctrl-f2 to change planes or you just continue to press F2 to cycle through them, I forget off the top of my head. Shift/Ctrl/Alt + F keys are all the view buttons. Tricker has a good video that explains some of the camera options kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6Slm62nn6eYfKs

amazing showcase here! just wondering, at the first engagement, did u had to hold lock button to get the vertical scan to lock up the f16? or is it a mod that you use?
@Enigma893 жыл бұрын
I held down the lock button in vertical scan mode

I tried to explain a lot more so IL-2 pilots who were curious could follow along. If you are IL-2 and are not into DCS then check out this 20+ Level Bomber sortie kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4W7i42loa6UoqM

How much bigger than the green circle is the lock zone when using the helmet sight? Because I’ve been switching to vertical scan in situations similar to the lead up to that gun kill, because I assumed it was literally just the tiny circle getting scanned. This has got me thinking it’d be much better to stick with the helmet sight. Also, does holding the lock key make it behave like NATO ACM modes where it auto locks the first thing it detects? Because that’s handy info to know as well, I’m sure I must’ve missed no end of contacts because I forget I need to hit the lock key to get it to work.

I think the green circle is the target area for helmet and that is it. Vertical Scan definitely has a much larger area than what is shown in the HUD. When I used helmet scan, I was spamming/holding lock as I moved it around and caught that guy. For off angles the helmet sight is really your only option. I was really fast there and I could not move my nose around easily and I knew that F-18 dipped low so I was moving the helmet around until you catch him. I frequently do the same thing with the bore sight (It does move) when I do have nose position. I think I am in the minority with that, it seems most people do not like the bore sight. Yes holding lock will make it pick up the first thing it sees. Which is how I was able to catch those guys so quickly.

Do you prefer the mig-29, SU-27/SU-33 or the J-11 for these kinds of encounters?
@Enigma893 жыл бұрын
Su-27/J-11 > Su-33 > Mig-29. The flankers over the Mig-29 because of the datalink. The Su-27/J-11 over the Su-33 because the ET missiles are the most useful ones. They do not give a radar warning to the enemy. The Su-33's extra pylons are meh and it carries less chaff and chaff is nice to have on Growling because you are getting dumped on by Fox-3 missiles constantly. I haven't experimented too much with the extra after burner on the Su-33, that *may* be useful but not sure... Something to experiment with maybe down the road.

Got to be ware of them Viper's they are more likly to kill you as the enemy l0l. I love the SU-27 it's my daily flyer. I love to do a lot of low level flying. I like to use the EOS to look up shoot down fokes...
@rainzyr42752 жыл бұрын
is adjusting the datalink range like that only on the j-11? i usually prefer the su-27 for the less annoying warnings but it can only go between 10km and 2km

I *think* it's the same? I don't know offhand.

Me encanta ver a jugadores con módulos FC3 derribando "súper módulos" como el F-16 y el F-18......... Realmente es posible jugar así? Siempre he creído que los módulos FC3 estaban degradados en favor de los USAF

I did not flew DCS since 2013 or so, back than only SU-25. A lot has changed as I noticed. What is the difference between J-11 and SU-27 ? Just the chinese voice over? Good videos by the way, coming from IL-2 GB :)
@Enigma893 жыл бұрын
The J-11 is basically a Su-27 but it is Chinse and it can carry the R-77 Fox-3 missile. Thank you!

@@Enigma89 Ah, ok. So, as I understand - the R-77 missile is exclusivly for the J-11 and its a long range one?

at 16:00 couldnt you have run it at ~~87% rpm for RTB , should have gotten you a lot of extra range, i think above 90% rpm is way too much for fuel efficiency, especially when empty
