I travel a ton as well and spent a couple of weeks with my new Steam Deck. I never even CONSIDERED loading DCS onto it. I'm so stoked as I leave for 6 weeks on a trip. Thanks a ton for figuring all this out.

You're very welcome! I have a part 2 up with more of a deep dive including the installation and various settings. It really is such an incredible little device, I barely game on my main rig now (other than for DCS VR)

Absolutely this! Travel quite a bit for work as well and never thought of having DCS on the deck due to controls. This is awesome!!

You are a mad men XD i mean my dcs folder 300gb+ no way i had the nerve to install that on my steam deck. Thanks for the video!
@NJ-Tech2 жыл бұрын
haha, yes well i have 500GB DCS install folder on my desktop PC, but for the deck i just want what i 'need' so i installed a few planes and just a few maps. With the 1TB internal M.2 drive its no problem on there at all. Without the storage upgrade it would be impossible to install anything else for sure :)

Great to see this on the Steam Deck, a lot less messing around an lugging a gaming laptop when on the move but need to do sometime DSC, def would like to see more, graphic / control setup, also how does it handle the mission editor
@NJ-Tech2 жыл бұрын
thanks! The missions i set up were done in the mission editor on the deck, it wasnt a problem at all. A little more loading stutter when you zoom in sometimes but it does that even on a higher end PC sometimes too. The trick was setting the right joystick vertical to mouse wheel scroll forward and backward, then ticking the 'turbo' option at a 50 rate, so when you hold the stick forward it zooms into the map at a nice rate and same for zoom out. Then right track pad as mouse for all the usual stuff. So far so good really. Ill get thinking about this second video deep dive!

@njtech Hello. Can you please tell me if a 64GB steam deck with a 1TB external card will work just as fine. Thank you
@NJ-Tech5 ай бұрын
@Nomad-wg6dj I don't see why not, but you'll have to point the install to the sd which shouldn't be too tricky.
@Nomad-wg6dj5 ай бұрын
@@NJ-Tech oh, that's great news! And your response came in so fast! Thank you. Also, will changing the location require more tweaking or will I be able to use the same settings as you have made in the DCS on Steam Deck videos of yours
@NJ-Tech5 ай бұрын
@Nomad-wg6dj the same tweaks as my video should all work fine. I think it'd just loading times will take a little longer off the sd card. It's all a bit of a faff to set up but worth it once it's working.

Great video! I got it running in my deck but am having a lot of freezes / crashes. I suspect it has something to do with the GPU being overloaded (all my freezes show 99% GPU usage). Would love to see a video on your installation process and graphics settings!

i have just the standard xbox controller profile but with triggers as buttons, and use my desktop config (which is also controller). the dpad is a modifier for me, say dpad left controls throttle functions (its on the left) and up controls stick functions and so on, you can try something similar

@NJ-Tech Жыл бұрын
@@NikoBellicisback u did upload them but they don't show up for some reason. Might be because I'm running the standalone beta of dcs. If you follow my steps you will get the idea. Even will normal hotas setup dcs jus5 has so much to map plane to plane. So really you need to set up for each. Somethings you can keep the same across all though. You have to find what works for you but start with whatever you fly the most.

How DCS fits on the ssd?
@NJ-Tech2 жыл бұрын
How big DCS is depends on how many modules you chose to install. I would suggest at least 130GB of space, it's not small. I have a 1TB SSD installed so I don't have to worry about space.
