Here's another tip. Save yourself some money and DON'T' buy the fastest Micro SD card, just make sure whatever you get has XC1, V30, a 3 (in a U shape) and A2 on it, forget everything else.

I hate when "tips ans tricks" videos turns out to be a bunch of ads for different devices, half of which is not even for steam deck specifically. Like cmon, "use my code so i can do more videos" - more ad videos? And i say it being a youtuber with sponsors myself.
@nophacetech4 ай бұрын
Congrats on getting sponsors! I haven’t had any sponsored videos on this channel yet, but hopefully, I can start getting some soon. I have no issue using a code to earn a small commission on products I use and love-it greatly helps my ability to work on more videos. I apologize if my title was misleading; I couldn’t figure out a way to make it shorter, but I’m open to changing it if someone has a better, clearer idea of what this video is about. I don’t see how suggesting an upgrade to storage isn’t a tip, but I do understand that it’s a lot of products and accessories. I regularly search for accessories and how people use them, and this is my 1 out of 10 video, so it seems others do too. Having a moral high ground about where the line is for others in terms of compensation is an odd stance to take and not helpful for the community at large. If you have a personal moral issue with using a code to get a kickback on products you use and like when sharing them with others, that’s wonderful-stick to your principles and remain neutral on the subject. However, I’m looking to ramp up my ability to make more videos, and I’m not in a position to do that without making money. Since no companies are currently willing to sponsor my small channel, I’ll use affiliate links for products I genuinely use and love until I can get sponsors to support the videos I want to create. A lot of people don’t get the difference between a sponsored video and earning a commission on a product. Sponsored videos involve contracts and specific rules about what you can say because a company is paying you to promote something. On the other hand, earning a commission through affiliate links gives you way more freedom-you can say whatever you want because you’re not tied to the company. It’s just you recommending something you genuinely like. I hope this doesn’t come across as pointed at you-I’m just trying to build a bridge of empathy and understanding between us as fellow KZbinrs. I’m new to the game, and you’re ahead of me, so I have a lot to learn from someone like you. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. I just want us to be able to call each other out on issues, if they arise, in a way that’s helpful and considers the full picture and nuances of this wild west of media. Thanks for reading, and great work on your channel-it looks amazing! Keep up the epic work!

@Erdrick-c9bWhile what you say is true, the critique in this case is warranted. When you title you video as "Tips and tricks" and over half of it is accessories (with affiliate links if I understood correctly), it is misleading at best. More proper way would be making two videos, one titled this and another something like "Best accessories for Steam Deck" like the creator is clearly capable of doing. To be fair, the critique could be worded more nicely, but sadly rudeness is nothing new on the internet. If I am looking for ice cream, I would be annoyed, if most of the ice cream aisle was filled with bread. I might be looking for both, but I would still prefer them not being mixed. As popular as Steam Deck is, this kind of content is rather niche still. And misleading videos, for me personally, ensure I won't be watching any more from the said creator. Just to clarify, I'm talking in general and just trying to be constructive. World needs good Steam Deck heroes with solid content.

Also, when I'm at home I have a bunch of magnetic charging tips that I use for my phone, SD, and other odds and ends ... there are some real good ones out there that do 100W+ charging and it's nice that if you forget you are connected to a charger, it just disconnects off like Magsafe for Apple.

@4:58, i modded my jsaux modcase to include, #0 Modcase Cover-part is been covered with 2 strips of glow-in-the-dark stickers, to increase its visibility in the dark, in case steamdeck gets placed on the ground and later stepped on #1 Glued on small rubber strip that secures a small Key Ring on the Cover Part AND a Keyring on a Loop secured through/around bottom part itself. This allows me to secure it on a larger keychord, around my neck and along the right shoulder, which if let go would hang besides me, and have (de-)attach the Front-Cover. Same glued-on rubber strip is also used to keep a small OTG Usb adapter & USB-C Male to Female adapter on 90° Angle, for emergancy redunancy Optionally, i have a small bench/couch, next to my desk, with the room having a low wooden ceiling of 2.5m-ish, and secured the Modulair Strap onto a small rope with elastisty Using the (still) attached larger Keychord with another elastic cord, making a triangle, allowing to 'hover' the steamdeck abit away from my face/head.

using windows on a external ssd will recognize the game games i have on my internal ssd?
@nophacetechАй бұрын
When you run Windows from an external drive on the Steam Deck, the internal drive becomes inaccessible because it’s formatted with a Linux file system (ext4) for SteamOS. Windows can only read its own file systems, like NTFS, and doesn’t natively support Linux file systems. This means that while using Windows, you won’t be able to access or play games stored on the internal drive without using additional third-party software to read Linux formats, which can be tricky and isn’t ideal for gaming performance. Reformatting the internal drive would remove SteamOS entirely.

Question, for the 8bitdo controller for steam deck. Is there a way to use it without connecting it via Bluetooth? I saw that the 8bitdo ultimate comes with the receiver to plug in via regular usb cable. But I’m not sure if it will work with the steam deck dock
@evshrug3 ай бұрын
Hmm good point. I got a GuliKit KK3 Max, it has Bluetooth too but the 2.4 GHz wireless dongle option would need a USB-A port, and of course the Steam Deck has one USB-C. I suppose A to C adapters come in many flavors, and I bet there are 180° U-shaped adapters like shown in the video here, except they adapt with an USB-A female outlet. Personally, if I’m going to use accessories I will probably also want power, and if I’m using an external controller I might want a stand or external monitor to bring the game visuals to eye level… in that case, the Docks are the more expensive but more versatile solutions. I really liked that folding dock that the video showed here; it looks expensive, but buy once, cry once, and then portable and home needs are met. And I bet the 2.4 GHz controller dongle could just stay connected to the dock, so there’s one less thing to connect. Oh, and of course, just using the controller wired via USB cable is an option.

I was obessed with the idea of upgrading the m.2 i thought gaming would suffer on the SD card. I just got a decent gaming sd card 1 tb and its barely noticeable. an i have so many games installed. and I love it
@nophacetech3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I felt like a lot of people made it seem like it’s terrible to game off the SD card, but I used the 64GB Steam Deck with a 1TB SD card for over a year, so all my games ran off it, and I didn’t have any issues. The only annoying part was that the 64GB would fill up with random stuff.

@nophacetech Thank you for the nice video! I was going to buy the external VITURE BAttery with adapter, but your link does not work, and on their website I can still find the battery, but not the adapter for STEAMDECK…what was the reason why they discontinued that?
@nophacetech3 ай бұрын
Interesting-the link works for me. Are you perhaps in a country they don’t sell to? They also have the attachment on their website; it’s called the ‘Mobile Dock Mount for Steam Deck.
@Drjacques3 ай бұрын
@@nophacetechI live in Spain/Italy. Your link does not work for me, and I cannot see the “mobile dock mount for steam deck” in their website. They advertise the viture battery only for Switch.

recomiendan la LCD?
@nophacetech25 күн бұрын
Si quieres obtener la opción más económica en dispositivos portátiles, la LCD es una buena opción, sin duda. Pero también vale la pena echar un vistazo al ROG Ally, que a veces está en oferta, por lo que la diferencia de precio no es mucha.

Enough with everything being a solution. Not everything is a problem
@nophacetech4 ай бұрын
I hear you! It’s true that not every feature or accessory is a solution to a problem, but sometimes they’re just cool additions or enhancements. It’s all about finding what fits your needs and preferences. The steam deck all alone with not one extra thing is absolutely good enough!

I’m getting a lcd one soon. Do you think it’s worth it to download windows 11 on it? I know I should get a rog ally but I can find a lcp steam deck for like 250 which is in my budget right now. I just wanna be able to play cod, rainbow six siege, ect
@nophacetech4 ай бұрын
Hey man, getting the LCD is a great idea-by far the best handheld for the price! Dual booting Windows and SteamOS is an awesome option. I’ve been running Windows off an external drive for a long time, but if you want portability with Windows, definitely go ahead and set it up to dual boot.

If you ONLY want CoD and such I say go for a Rog AllyX. I don’t want Windows anywhere near my SD but if you’re not into Linux just go with the Rog so everything runs natively.
@evshrug3 ай бұрын
I don’t know Rainbow 6’s system requirements, but CoD has scalable graphics options and a well-optimized engine. The Steam Deck, despite being portable, is about as powerful as a PS4 Pro. I don’t think the base-level SSD has enough storage space for CoD to install though, CoD needs 150 GB in addition to the system software (Windows 11 is about 27GB, and you always need some free space for the system to run). And yes, saving up for a ROG Ally would start you with Windows, and the Z1 Extreme chip in the Ally X and original Ally (skip the slower Z1, it’s worse than the cheap LCD Steam Deck) technically is more powerful than the Steam Deck. However, that processor chews through battery faster than the Steam Deck, the Ally (X) is unlikely to ever hit 120FPS on CoD or 🌈 6, and at 11 or lower TDP settings the Z1Extreme doesn’t perform as well as the Steam Deck. Windows causes an additional hit against performance and battery life compared to Steam OS. But for other FPS games and other shooters, SteamOS will run them better. The LCD screen is fine, not as good as the OLED but you always have an option to use an external monitor, like the one used here for a “laptop” screen or later on you can get OLED glasses like the Viture One (I also use a pair of these!). You can always upgrade the SSD too.

What black magic type battery are they using in those Bose headphones… that you use them a ton and recharge them presumably a lot as well… and the battery life is not degraded… I’m not kidding… when you get rid of those please open them up and check the brand and spec of those batteries.

Steam deck read speed for SD cards max out at 100mb/s so get cheaper SD cards with more storage
@nophacetech3 ай бұрын
That’s a great point. Do you think there’s any merit in buying a card that like double its limit for longevity, quality, and the ability to handle fast read and write speeds simultaneously, to avoid bottlenecking with the SD card?

Showing different accessories and items for the Steam Deck can be classified as “tricks and tips” because it enhances the user’s experience, offering new ways to make the most of their device. Accessories can solve common problems (like battery life, storage, or display quality), introduce new functionality, or simply make gaming more enjoyable and versatile. Each accessory serves as a “tip” for optimizing the Steam Deck, while “tricks” often refer to creative or unconventional ways to use these items to maximize gaming or productivity potential.
